The building instructions and parts list to build my version of the Ecto-1
About this creation

Complete step-by-step

building instructions for

My Ghostbusters' Ecto-1

Parts list at the end.

Note: This doesn't include the lighting!!

These instructions would not have been done, if I had not used the CAD tools to design my MOC of the Ecto-1 in the first place!! Also they would not have been done if they had not been so easy to do with the latest version of Lpub (vers. 4.0.0.3), Thanks Kevin!

Alright!, you all that wanted these instructions better put some very nice comments on this page!!

Note: That in step 28 I used a number of turns of narrow scotch tape to thicken the control lever so that the technic pin would stay on.

For step 29:
At the time I did this I couldn't find the x123.dat (now 71183) file for this part

add:
2 Chrome-Silver x123 Bar 1L with 1 x 1 x 2/3 Light Holder
2 Black 751 Hose, Flexible 8.5L, Tube 7L

Thank you for making your Ecto build available to us. Excellent instructions btw. I had to change a few things, as I didn't have all the parts. But wow does it look great on my shelf. I also moc'd a proton pack with a few traps for the storage in the rear. Then I moc'd a neat little slimer to float next to the car. Thanks again for all your efforts on this fine build.

Excellent build! I just discovered it and promptly found all the pieces to emulate your creation. One question, how did you make your decals? Any tips?

Hi Kurt, Saw this in person at Brickworld this weekend. Excellent work! Thanks to you pointing out these great instructions, I will be able to make an Ecto-1 for myself, to go along with your equally excellent Ghostbusters House! Thanks!!

Quoting Troy Wolverton Hi, Kurt: Thanks for posting these instructions! One question, though: the axle you specified doesn't seem to work with the wheels. The diameter of the axle rod is too big for the corresponding opening in the wheels. Any advice on what to do instead? Thanks in advance! Troy
I am a little baffled by your question. I assume that you can't snap the 4624 - Wheel Centre Small's onto the 6157 Plate 2 x 2 with Wheels Holder Wide, am I right that this is what you ask? Are you sure that you have the correct parts? Those parts work together, proof: http://www.peeron.com/inv/sets/6639-1 Here's a small lego model that only has 1-6157 and 2-4624s see the picture on the front of the box. Hope this helps.

I have seen a few interpretations of this car in Lego and this is by far the best I have come across. Really nice and great detailing!
