My entry for Aaron's Space Pirate remix contest over on Flickr. Unfortunatley didn't win, but still rather proud of this and pleased with positive comments received.
So, without further ado, Keelhaul's Disgrace.
The Space Wolf captain, Fenris Keelhaul, is in the market for a new ship and crew. Lured away from his warship, The Fenris Fang, he returned to find it wreckage floating in space. The pretence of his absence was a meeting with Blacktron sources offering information on shipping, a meeting at which the Blacktrons never showed. Furious at the double cross, he swore vengeance on the scum that ambushed his craft Ė all the while dismayed that he didnít double-cross them first.
Trawling the wreckage he has salvaged parts for his personal launch, which he has renamed The Disgrace. The figurehead, a massive skull, has been grafted to the rear along with a Blacklight engine unit to power the launch through deepspace.
Also amongst the debris, he rescued his pet space gators. These vicious and hardy predators can withstand the vacuum of space due to their silicon-based nature. Using modified docking clamps, he harnessed the powerful lizards to his launch. They now haul the Disgrace into attack.
Heavily armed for its role as a boarding craft and shore boat, the Disgrace boasts a heavy ion cannon for disabling targets and a torpedo pod for making holes in them. Implosion harpoons, mini rockets and small arms fire from the crew and monkey gunner add to the firepower.
The ship employs a chimerical atmosphere generator and shields instead of a hull, which allows the intimidating view of the captain waving his crew forward into attack. It can also unnerve a more timid crew to not have a thick plate of armour to hide behind. Journeys inside the generated field are not comfortable, but Fenris Keelhaul worries little for the comfort of others as he seeks revenge. His new prow ornament, the body of a Blacktron pilot they captured and questioned, demonstrates this. Confirming the traitorous ambush, he was rewarded by being strapped alive to the bow of the launch for the winds of space to whip the flesh from his bones.
He now trawls the space ways to recruit another Space Wolves crew and find another ship suitable for taking the fight to his sworn enemies.
Wow, Stuart I can't believe I missed this. It is a very neat design and I live the little skeleton thing on the top. I think that you should really join the MocOlympics, you might have a pretty good shot... Thanks for all of the comments! -Dylan
I'm in the MOColympics and the Space Pirate category could come up in my way. I immediately thought about this MOC. Do you have any useful pointers? (like what could be a good balance between space and pirate) You can reply anywhere in my page, if you like :)
Very well done. Good idea with this, a space pirate, with the past pirate look like, and then what it would look like in space. Too bad you didn't win that contest in flickr. Very detailed on the ship, and I really like that Blacktron pilot orament. Don't want to be in his shoes when he was captured. After this comment, I'm going to catch myself a couple of space agtors.;) And sweet weapons. All, in all, a great creation. ~ Ghostman :)
