The pirates had stored all of their treasure in a deep cave on a remote island. They thought the location was secret and thus safe, they were wrong. A rouge element of the Spanish Navy discovered their secret hiding place and went after the treasure to claim it for themselves. The soldiers were not enough to overpower the pirates and all were killed, but so were all of the pirates. The last remaining pirate was the Captain, mortally wounded, who climbed on top of his treasure pile, had one last drink, and died. Now the treasure remains hidden, with only the dead to enjoy it.
