About this creation
Talon is a VTOL Transport designed for Air Assault Operations. It has a cargo capacity roughly equivalent to the C-130. True to its mission, the Talon is heavily armed and armored. It can deliver 60 troops or three Gun Tracks per sortie .
It’s total weight when combat loaded results in high rate of fuel consumption and subsequently a severely limited operational radius. It is not capable of long range operations without the support of in flight refueling.
Talon is heavily armed in order to ensure access to designated landing zones and to provide immediate post deployment fire support to assaulting troops. The bulk of Talons armaments are housed in the nose section of the aircraft. During transit to and from assault objectives and during administrative movements, Talon operates with these armaments stowed.
She is equipped with two 8 barreled 25 mm autocannon and 16 MK 3 missiles. The autocannon can fire depleted uranium armor piercing, and incendiary rounds at the gunner’s discretion. The MK 3s are a mix of General Purpose High Explosive, High Penetration “Tomb Makers”, and Phosphorus incendiary. The specific MK3 load is determined just prior to each sortie based on the latest intelligence.
Here we see Talon 14 during the October 07' Omicron Weekend operation. Here are some Talon-related links:

Hey, your creations are great. The use of parts and colors is really well thought out and intentional. I see from your homepage that you like constructive criticism. I am cut from the same cloth. I looked at a lot of your MOCs and the only really big thing that I see for improvement are your photos. This MOC in particular. I know it is older from 2009 but it would show of the design and your skill a lot better with improved pics. My advice is get a big piece of poster board for the back ground. I also try to take my photos during the day preferably when it is overcast so shadows aren't present and a flash is not needed. I hope this helps and will be watching for new builds! |

I have a theory that a VTOL plane doesn't need large wings because the lift force it requires to take off is mostly provided by vectored thrusters(as in Harrier). But then again your plane probably weights a(hundred) ton(s), so it will need all the lift forces it can get.Attack! |

Talon brings a tear to the eyes of all those valiant State workers from the early Condor program on. Das Kapital has achieved heavy airlift capabilities much to the despair of its' neighbors. Those retractable gun turrets are "Da Bomb". Steve Galveston always prefers to tour this aircraft at the annual airshow. I think it's time to head on over to the "Beef Kiosk". |

That thing is just big and bad a... you get the idea. Oh, and a simple way around the "time out" feature. Do all your work, loading pics and all your text but don't do the main pic or title yet (just to save time). Copy all of your work first and then go out of the page and back in (you may have to sign back in depending on time). Then all you do is paste your work back to the page and then add your main photo and title and what not. Hope that helps. ~ Chris. |
