Cave Troll & Orcs (inspired by Lord of the Rings)
About this creation

This Cave Troll is one of my "most wanted to be built with LEGO"

This was long time ago, I was firstly impressed by this figure in the movie
I can never forget how it moves ...and attacks...
how stupid it is ...

Cave Troll is simply a big beast employed by Orc Army
It can move heavy objects, e.g. Huge Club, big stones for catapult, siege tower...

WHY I want to build it?
As I said this is one of the most wanted ...
Secondly LEGO's Troll (green and dark tan) looks OK but bad articulation
I want the troll can do at least swing its head
lift up the huge club with BOTH hands
and...
and...
I want it can do all posts...

I did it
hope you like it
and I will continue adding photos here
(at least, its armored look, I have to show you ^_^)

p.s. those Orcs...just a touch of using TAN color skin, looks OK with the Cave Troll. ^()^ I like it more than the green Orcs.

I defiantly agree, as nice as some may look, the "big-figs" that LEGO puts out are a bit... Bad, as far as articulation is concerned. This not only looks great (I think it actually looks better than the one in the Moria set) AND it can move. Well done.

Love it. This is what Lego should be doing in their sets, instead of making large figures for trolls and dragons. The articulation and I think also the shapes and the look you've achieved are far better. Really great use of parts.

Amazing! It looks exactly like the one in the movie!

Excellent! Aha! someone else brick-built a cave troll! I think I've uploaded mine...

Hi, I am a serious collector and was wondering how much you would want for a complete model of the cave troll. If you are interested please contact me at, leomaten@gmail.com

Absolutely awesome. I love it. And of course I wanted to build it. Most of the pieces I at least have a vague idea where they came from. But what is that piece in the pelvic area?

  May 25, 2012
wow. Just... wow. i am building the unarmored one now. I think the torso instructions were a bit confusing because I couldn't see the back, so mine is probably different that yours by a little bit. Anyways, amazing! keep on building those creatures! also, could you try to make a smaller, troll-sized minotaur other than the huge (and awesome) minotaur already posted, but with instructions? if so, thank you, because i have been trying to make a bigger minotaur than the minifigure series has for a percy jackson moc.

Wow, I just now saw this! The cave troll is awesome; I personally think it's at least as good as the official one that is going to be coming out. While it may be nice to have a specially-designed one, I think a brick-built figure is better for something this size, and you've done it exceptionally well!

Quoting JD Snyder Incredible! just plain old, jaw droppingly incredible! Do you know that Lego is going to release a LotR line later this year? Honestly I doubt it will be better than some of the stuff on mocpages, including this amazing troll! Great job!
thanks for your reply. And for your question about LEGO LotR, sure, I know. And I really hope LEGO will launch troll and orcs "better than" my version, because forming an army with my version of troll and orcs is quite expensive and time consuming~~

Quoting Shadow Darkers This s perfekt 99999 over max/5 i wonder if i can use it as a inspiration for my troll for a moc of the norwegian film "Troll Hunter"
Thank you for your appreciation. I don't mind people to use my design for their further creation, and that is the idea why I post instruction. Only what I hate is that people copy my own photos of creation and claim that as their creation >_<... Thanks again and I am happy to hear that you are inspired by my creation.

Thanks, for how I come up with this? I think it is because I really like LOFR very much. Secondly I like to create "brick built monster". Thirdly I was so impressed by this figure in the movie. Thanks again.

Quoting "Jalla J." ~~ That actually is an armored troll and it is called an Olaghai. They were the elite troll force of sauron and were able to speak black speech since they were rather intelligent. And btw they were definitely not orc controlled. If any orc tried to control them, the orc would die.

Quoting Jalla J. Excellent! verry cool. the troll looks alot like the movie one, but i would add some grey bricks to the front to make it seem more realish. Also that is not an armored cave troll, look at the third movie for that, it is just an orc controlled cave troll.
really?! an orc controlling cave troll?! Let me check the movie again~~~
