The Siege of Garrendar
A siege.
About this creation
Another MOC. I've always wanted to make a siege, so after I bought the new Castle sets, I made one. The MOC is simply the siege of a small town. The Trolls seem to have the upper hand.

The defenders side. The town of Garrendar is mostly a village of trade, located a few miles south of Harnsford. Due to this fact, the town has very little soldiers stationed there.

The trolls have brought in their fearsome Troll Sieger , and with this they blast a large hole in the wall, destroying a merchants home in the process.

The carnage of war is never kind. This young recruit is shocked by the horror of it all, as he sees his best friend dead on the ground.

The soldiers will give up their lives rather than let the civilians be killed.

The Troll Sieger . The Trolls somehow obtained gunpowder, the newly discovered resource from the far north. With this they managed to build cannons and muskets. The gunpowder is few and far in between, so only select Troll soldiers can wield a musket. This siege machine uses a heavy cannon to blast through walls. Only three are in existence.

The side view of the cannon cart.

The Golden Knight defends the gate. The esteemed knight was here on a visit to his cousins. He now finds his life in danger as the Troll King attacks.

The Troll King and his general. They both wield pistols. In front of them rush some of the 1st Musket Infantry Ranks .

The Greater Troll. Several of these accompany the Troll Kings army, but in recent years their ferocity and power was overshadowed by that of the great Cannons and Muskets.

The battle. Several brave peasants take up arms to buy their families time. They, and the rest of the defenders, are doomed.

Quoting Architect of Vonthako I like his one too (I've been on a real medieval binge lately; could have something to do with all the time I've spent playing Mount & Blade). It seems that these trolls are a good deal smarter than their typical fantasy-adventure counterparts, considering how they have already made their own gunpowder weapons (while the humans are stuck with swords and spears). Are you sure the trolls arenít secretly being helped by a Saruman-type evil genius? Also, I thought Iíd let you know, itís a big technological step from gunpowder (the substance) to firearms (the mechanical devices). Historians believe gunpowder to have been invented in China around the 9th century. The first weaponized use of gunpowder was in simple bombs that the Chinese used against the invading Mongolian hordes (my ancestors). The first cannons didnít appear until approximately 400 years later, and muskets werenít around for about another 200 years after that. And this was with us humans (creatures of superior intellect) working on ways to more effectively kill each other. (This is probably why in Lord of the Rings, even after Saruman makes gunpowder, he gives it to the orcs in the form of a large bomb to be used against Helmís deep, not an artillery piece.) But hey, your world, your rules.
And whoever said that Trolls weren't smart? :P

Commander Fed June 22, 2009 This is decent, could use some major work if you ask me, the explosion doesn't look realistic at all just a couple of bricks put together and the ground could use some work I mean there are things such as plants aren't they but I guess you wouldn't know that right? And what is with the knights and trolls they look like there is no action, just placed there. Anyways overall could use major work Liam: Oi! You are way over your head, obviously you have no imagination what so ever! maby he doesn't have any grass pieces, think about what you say, i wolud like you to make and exsplousion without lazzers or fire. I think lord lego has done a pritty creation here, and mabby "jed" he wanted to keep it small becouse he was creating something else at the time! ( hey lord lego do you remember how you used to do stuff like jed to me but about my spelling, i told you and you changed, say thank you)

Sorry about the second comment, but I though I'd tell you that you should look at someone's approach before you analyze and agree with the content. Then you can REALLY tell what they're like. Just saying. Again, nice build.

To Fed: I expect that if Lord Lego had wanted action he would have made a stop motion movie, and if he wanted plants he would have gone gardening. Ahem. Anyway, I would like to compliment you on the troll figs, very original. (I like the mixture of trolls and gunpowder - vicious!) I really get the feeling from this MOC that trolls aren't very nice. That inference is most definitely proved by the crying soldier. :) Nice job, and nice use of heads.

Quoting Daniel Roth i agree with johnathan, Fed, you are waaaaay too overcritical (Word?) i have seen all of lord legos work, and he's LORD lego fro a reason. stop critisizing other peaople's work for teh tiniest deatail and look at your own creations, they may not be as good you think, abd lord, nice job, the effect of the trolls with muskets is great.
Wow, thanks! I have to admit, though. This is my poorest MOC, and Fed those have some points. I should've added in plants....

Looking good! It could use some plants and the flames could be a bit longer, but I love the action.

Nice job, Lord Lego! I do think the base could use some plates, for un-even ground, but otherwise, cool siege.

Pretty good, but I agree with Nufalak that you need more debris on the ground. I also agree with Tyberious that the siege engine could use some work. I like the concept of Trolls making advances, but I think it would've taken them a little longer to make guns. Sorry, I'm just having a nitpick moment. Still a solid build.

personally not a fan of guns, i think they ruined things. But the giant troll was beyond awesome! i love the painted skull on his arm and the armor being black was a nice touch. The gold knight was also amazing did you paint hat it seems that if you did u did near perfectly, i can't see it close enough to know for sure but good job

Nice. Your wall could use some more debris on the ground. Also, the muskets dont seem to fit too well, but thats just me. Overall, a nice little display!

A nice little siege, I think the cannon cart could be better, but overall, very nice.
