Gaian Scout Ship -- Spectre
It is a treacherous time for the Tribes of Man, which are the scattered last remnants of the human race, and especially for the tribe known as the Gaians. Five hundred years ago, the asteroid Apophis slammed into the Earth, destroying almost all life including human civilization. Seeing this, the descendents of the people of Atlantis, who remembered well the massive tragedy that had befallen their ancestors, broke with their tradition of non-interference with the human race and came to Earth on a mercy mission to save the last humans. For long millenia, the survivors of Atlantis who had taken to the stars -- as depicted in Aztec and Mayan pictographs -- had remained repentent of the vile evil of their ancestors that had surely brought down the terrible judgement that had destroyed Atlantis. These people, now called the Neireen, had avoided Earth and the evil of the humans. But now, they could not stand by and watch this lingering death. Taking these surviving humans, they purposely spread their numbers thin across many habitable worlds near and far from Earth. The Neireen then gave these small tribes of humans technology and resources so that they may survive on their new colony worlds. Now, five centuries later, those tribes have turned into mighty nations. They have used the technology given to them to begin exploring the stars and to garner new resources. As they do so, these nations of humans encounter alien races, and other Tribes of Man. Not every nation pursues a reformed path of peace. Some of the nations have turned to seeking power through military might. The Gaians, however, follow a path of knowledge and peace, exploring the galaxy and establishing diplomatic and trade relations with their neighbors. Sadly, they begin to encounter both humans and aliens who have pursued the paths of war. It is as a precaution against these nations that the Gaian Miranda-class scout ship, the Spectre, now finds itself recalled to Gaia to take on two additional crew members, two Star Corp Marines. The Star Corp Marines are the people of Gaia's first step toward militarization for self protection.
About this creation

The map of the Milky Way galaxy showing the major planets of the humans, and the other major space faring races.

An overhead shot showing the scale of the ship to its crew and cargo.

The crew, two Star Corp Marines, and Admiral DuGaul of the Gaian Space Command.

The crew ready for departure, with the last of the ship's cargo waiting to be loaded.

The front section of the ship, showing the navigational deflector field emitter center, sensors and communications to either side, moving outward we have the front maneuvering thrusters, then the primary forward laser turrets with their wide firing field, and behind those the magnetic beam turrets, and then the docking ports to either side. Topside docking port is above the port docking ring.

The aft section of the ship, with the multi-equipment pod that includes auxiliary navigational deflector emitter, secondary sub-light engines (on the backside), and long range communications, and supplementary sensors.

It is not convenient to have to affect certain repairs and maintenance on the ship through panels that can only be accessed when in space, but then hey, this is no job for wimps. When you sign on, you got to prove yourself.

The Arc Drive core exposed from under its armored dome, as it would be for repairs.

Some of the crew in their space suits out on the hull of the ship doing maintenance. These suits are also used when in hostile planetary environs. The primary ship exit for space walking is the airlock, however, the topside docking hatch will also suffice.

The primary sub-light drive, and the two aft maneuvering thrusters to either side of the Arc Drive dome. Also we see the emergency solar panels to be used in case something happens to the ship's fusion power core. That is an unlikely scenario, but is a simple solution to a complex problem.

Here we see the three landing gear assemblies, the underside forward laser cannons, and the aft underside turret. Just forward of the airlock (the hole in the hull) is the ground telemetry/x-ray sensor. To either side of the forward landing gear assembly are the headlights which can project regular light and blue spectrum light because human eyes see better in the blue spectrum of light.

The two Star Corp Marines recently assigned to the Spectre due to growing dangers. The Spectre can accomodate a crew of 6, which is usually made of science officers.

Captain Brenning and Admiral DuGaul, who have known each other for quite some time, shake hands in parting as the Spectre prepares to leave Gaia for another exploratory mission.

Before take off, it is a good time to stretch ones legs and breathe the fresh air before spending the next month aboard the small vessel on its current mission.

Quoting Space Pirate Great ship! your wip was already pretty good, but this is much better :) I just feel that the engines are a bit too small.
You know, I have the same complaint. I am thinking of redoing the engines. I stayed with the current engines, because I have been on this kick lately of using those train roof pieces for a lot of SNOT work -- windows, engine housing, weapons frame, etc. And because of that I just could not let these engines go and build something bigger. Now that I have some satisfaction, I will redo the engines. Thanks for pointing that out and for visiting, twice!

Quoting Ryan Tennant nice work i love it! it kinda reminds me of the millenium falcon though... which is ok! ^_^ 5/5! ~Ryan
It probably should remind you of the Falcon, as 50% of this ship's design is taken directly from the instruction booklet for the minifig scale Falcon. I intentionally took those instructions and used them to build something of that same shape, but for a different purpose. I am glad you noticed that right off.
