Visit to see Sean Kenneys LEGO Art Studio at the Long Island City Arts Center Open Studio Event - May 30 - 2009 WOW COOLNESS!!! Let's go see!
About this creation

Ahh this looks like the entrance to Sean Kenney's Studio! Let's go in and check it out!
Hey this is nice! Lot's of light and Whoa, there is Sean, greeting guests in his studio.

As soon as you walk in his studio, there is a huge stadium! WOW!
Hey Sean! It's meee! Eric Sophie.... "Eric Sophie.., who?..." ;)

Ooooh look at all those little big, big little micro scale buildings!

...and cool vehicles! Schweet!!! x1000 million

Sean's Mosaics are huge and so colorful. Very well done!

Lot's of sculpture work around the studio. That's a lot of bricks!

Everything is so neat tidy and clean, lot's to see in the studio of Sean Kenney.

I like all these builds and figures on the shelves here and there.
One looks familair, hmmm...

I really like this one, check out the way the model's right leg is built.

Sean has lot's of models and LEGO everywhere!
...In fact... gimme' some of that!

I couldn't resist playing with some of Sean's model pictures in Photoshop.

:Awww: WALLE

We had a great time! Sean was super nice too. He has a lot of LEGO!
There was even an area where guests could build, like this, that someone made:

Looking forward to seeing more of Sean's work!
What do you think of Sean's LEGO Art Studio?

so.. when does the new mech bay come out?
Hey RTM!
I have to finish my summer series shows called the "Kids Kingdom". I put all my green LEGO in to the boxes of "Event LEGO" that I use during the public building events.
http://news.lugnet.com/events/?n=2560
Then I will sort out the green LEGO, so I can build it in to Mech Bay 16. Stay tuned!

... every builder has his secret... il tell mine... what i do is: i put headphones in and i listen to heavy rock, then, switch to slow rock, than, something dark and slow but still very angry sounding, than something happy, than a LOT of heavy rock... its my fav... and the music controls me... im a different lego builder without music... u can see the difference of my non-music creations and music ones.... idk what it is... well... heres what describes it best... a qoute: "let the music be your master" -led zeppelin! so whats ur secret? |

Eric did I see some where that you may be working on a new project? Cant wait till its done!-George
I have a couple. I was working on a White NXT Quad. I put that aside to work on the Mechanical Chassis' I created for a series of mechanical building classes I will be teaching at Storming-Robots(.com) this summer. I also have a series of events and shows during the summer which has taken my attention away from building.
LEGOMASTER 2009 Summer Events:

Maybe after these shows I can settle in again and build.

I never met Brian Cooper before, but we are both fans of each other's work. In fact, I beta tested his Teknomeka instructions. I looked them over carefully, he is amazing! |

Eric - Thank you for that glimpse into Sean's studio. I was actually most interested in how he sorts, organizes and keeps his LEGO. ...so your photos helped to quell that. And as far as the whole 'it smells like paint' thing that Kelso brought up ...good point. I think that Sean should leave a few open containers of turpentine around to give it that 'artsy' smell. |

What a great tour, Eric! Thanks so much for posting this. Speaking as an artist, his studio looks so much like the ones we have here in Indianapolis...only he's got the best of both worlds: a studio space for an artist, but instead of oil paint and fumes everywhere its Lego! Heaven. Just sheer Heaven. Say, most studios smell like paint...did Seans have that Lego smell? |
