Here is my new mecha. It was started and completed yesterday within 4-5 hours. It's inspired by Japanese Super Robots such as Mazinkaiser and Tengen Toppa Gurren-Lagann. It's also inspired be the greatest Martial Artist mankind has ever seen: Bruce Lee! Martial Arts mecha. The name literally translates into "Great Heart Lee." Originally, the name was going to have a W in it due to the fact that it has a W on it's chest, but I couldn't get the name to work, so I chose Great Shin Lee, acknowledging the the great heart and spirit of the great Bruce Lee. Enjoy! [Look at all of the pics; there are some surprises.]

I agree Dali, or a mech other than Anime-style. Phong: You seem to give yourself credit when someone uses a similar to one of yours, but when a technique that you used has already been around the block, you deny it. I love your double-standards, Phong.
Will, there are only few really great techniques out there. Many people are bound to have similar ideas. However, I do credit people when I do use their ideas. [I.E. Izzo's joints for elbows and knees] Still, I really don't see how this mecha was confused with Moko. You obviously have no idea what you're talking about. Moko often uses parabolic parts http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=2834062 for his mechas' curves, while I use those arch parts. Mine and his techniques are very different. Just the fact that we both do have curves in our mechas doesn't mean that we are copying one another. You're basically forbidding me to use techniques that involve curves on anime mecha. To a layman [you] anime mecha techniques are bound to look the same. It's the lack of a detailed background that gets you thinking that I copied. If people come up with the same ideas on their own, it's still both of their ideas, but someone else had the same w/o knowing it. Also, when have I credited myself? I never discredit people and say that it's MY idea and that they're copying me. I love how you pull these random false accusitions outta your head and try to get them to fly with me. If you're gonna argue, at least get a well-rounded background as a base for your argument, not one based off of a vague, layman's perspective and your own imagination. |

Quoting Phong Chang I didn't use Moko's or Jas's techniques. (I don't know who Jas is.) This mecha was 100% my design other than the elbow and knee joints. It is original. I also said that I think I'm the first, but I guess peter beat me to it. Oh well. Still this is original, I don't think you understand how different mine and Moko's techniques are. Sorry Phong, but you have no clue about anything whatsoevero on this topic. I know you didn't copy either builder, but you used a few of the same techniques. |

Very nicely done Phong! a teeny bit repetitive with the fighting stance pose (it looks to be in there 3x), but the mecha itself is great. It's a shame that you had to take apart the ruiz to build it though, that was one of my favorite of your mecha. Oh well! BTW, great pointilist piece. If I were to truly nitpick, I'd suggest a closer dot placement, because there looks to be a teeny bit too much space between the dots. I HATE pointilism from my art class last year, where we had to do something essentially the same (expressionism, but with strokes under 1cm in length, with pastels...). I ended up finishing the project (which, of course, had no subject choice-- it HAD to be a landscape and it HAD to be deserted and it HAD to have trees, etc...) more than two weeks after it was due because I'm a huge perfectionist about everything and it needed to be as close to awesome as a boring landscape can get-- which of course is very much not. So nice work Phong! |

This is significantly Phongier, a step in the right direction. However, the lower legs and elbows are still a bit too similar to Izzo in my opinion. This probably replaces your Liberty Gundam as my favorite MOC from you.
The elbows are similar because they're sturdy. How else could he do a one arm handstand?! The legs are 100% Phong. I didn't know Izzo made lower legs like that. I made mine with no Izzo-inspiration at all.I only looked at TTGL and based them off that. |

There's not really any point to mechs that do martial arts (Not that that's a bad thing) the only purpose they serve is to better our lives through awesomeness and this does just that.
That's like saying there's no point in humans doing it. Bruce Lee was such an awesome martial artist that he'd be able to move quickly enough to PWN a guy with a gun. This mecha is the same. It has lightning fast movements, so if it were to be in close range combat, it would dominate. Now imagine arming this mrtial arts mecha with a gun. It's unstoppable. |
