Large armoured troop transport / lander of the Imperial army. For when you really need to bring some troops along.
About this creation

This Imperial lander is meant as a larger alternative for the Lambda- and Sentinel class imperial shuttles. It can transport up to 120 stormtroopers and 6 officers (in the top cabin), depending on its modular insides buildup. Its six repulsorlift engines and three forward thrust engines are much stronger than any other imperial shuttle class.

Main hatch is open. Troops get ready to leave the ship, while two large cannons protect the ship from being attacked. Powerful lamps help troops find their way, while blinding the enemy.

I felt like making a (mostly) studless ship here. It was supposed to be both light and dark grey/bley at first. But by the time I'd built about 60% of it, there was already so much light grey in it, that dark grey felt really out of place here (as was excessive gleebling). There is some dark stuff in the tail fins though. I see that I knocked a bit loose before I took this picture. Meh.

Interior of the cockpit. It's not very special. Oh, the interior of the ship is also mainly studless.

Some of the seats for the troops. The colour coding depicts the rank and type of each trooper, making it easier for them to find their place while boarding the ship. The four seats in front (back of the picture) are for scout troopers (green is the officer), as they usually need to get out first.
Red is regular stormtroopers, while the orange is for their commanders (just like their orange platoon leader's pauldron). Blue is for bombers.
The orange light tells the trooper that it's their time to storm out. Arrows on the floor indicate the way the troopers should storm out, as it gets pretty smokey and hectic at times during battle.

The roof comes off to show you the inside with the troopers. In the back is the battle control centre.

Troopers in place, with their guns at their feet. You can see the orange-shouldered commanders in their orange seats.

Commander in the battle control centre.

I like how it turned out. All the light bley and the straight bits make it really have a imperial/stormtrooper feeling to it. Utilitarian and heavy. Am I making any sense? A bit like an AT-AT, I suppose.

Snipers were positioned along the ship to protect it in dangerous places. Like my desk. The transparent bricks are there for extra support, although the eight legs are strong enough to support the ship by itself.

"Gee, that's a really nice troop ship they've got us!"

I thought I'd add some WIP shots. In the top left image, you can see the legs supporting the craft, without the transparent support blocks touching the ground. Bottom left: I thought it resembled a rabbit. Anyone seen Donnie Darko? Bottom right shows construction of one layer of support beams. The craft is rather sturdy, using a total of six layers of these support beam structures.

Top images: I thought it was a shame I didn't post a clear picture with the craft number on its lower half before. The ID is used by the troops to quickly find their assigned landing craft during battles where multiple of these ships were deployed. Bottom left shows a giant Imperial emblem. I toyed with the idea of placing this on the back of the ship (so flying craft could identify it when it was on the ground), but ultimately decided against it. Bottom right shows seat design.

First off, I really enjoyed the imperial nature of this transport. You really captured the grim, giant spectre of an imperial landing craft. Secondly, your computer areas were quite nicely done. You created a nicely done command area that looked quite authentic. Also, the seating for the troops was very creative not to mention impressive size wise. Overall this craft was really well done. It would have fit right into the movies. |

I commented on this in the past, and I agree with the comments that my past self made. Not to stand on Keith's soapbox, but if you did a brick landing ramp, you could have some bricks with studs-on-the-side to hold the plates on the outside, and to have grills on the inside to create traction for your troops, as a brick built ramp would be slippery and un-interesting. This is a great landing barge, just great. |

Hello. Thank you for the comment. Don't worry, I'm not easily offended. I'm not sure what you're asking though. There are no instructions for this. I came up with this idea myself. It's funny how anything about Star Wars instantly gets popular on MOCpages. I like your "Azuker" ship better, though this is pretty good by itself.
Yeah, I noticed that too. I think my Azuker is much more of an achievement than this. Not that I don't like this. This landing craft only took me about 1/6th of the time to build. I guess it's all the stormtroopers that make it instantly popular ;) |

strange shape, I like those tail fins...they make it look less bulky :)are those legs meant to fold somehow, or are they just static...? I mean, do they stay in this position when taking off? (yeah, I can see that they practically can't fold, but in theory) and there is one thing I really don't like about that ship :P are the pilots beamed in there? :O I couldn't see any entrance to the bridge...
The legs don't fold into the ship, if that's what you mean. They change position slightly while airborne though. As for the pilot: this is easy. The pilot enters the ship via the main hatch. There's a ladder just around the corner on the inside, leading up through a small hatch in the floor of the bridge. |

Wow! Amazing work! This seems kinda dum to ask but do you have any guess of how many pieces you used?
Thanks. Gee, your question realy made me wonder. I have absolutely no idea. It contains a reasonable amount of pieces though. I've just weighed it because your question made me curious, and it weighs 5kg (11 pounds). I just did some researching, and according to this [ http://www.mapageweb.umontreal.ca/cousined/lego/3-Physics/Measurement/index.htm], 400 bricks of 2x4x1 together weigh exactly one kilogram. Assuming that brick is of medium size (I used both larger and smaller pieces than that), it would come to about 2000 pieces. Which sounds like a fairly low piece count to me. But it's about twice that of the official At-At, so maybe it's closer to the truth than I think. |

I agree with you, it is very no-nonsense and utilitarian. It has the ambiance of old school pre-empire era to it. And, it does seem alot like a spacey version of one of those WWII beach landing craft. I could see this landing on the beaches of Normandy, the boat master yelling, "go, go, go", and all of the storm troopers come rushing out on to the beach to stop the Allies from invading Germany occupied Europe. Quoting CC-1102 "Rocky"
Amazing! I really love the leg things. How many figs can it fit?
Right now, it fits 38 troopers. But they have a lot of room, and there is also the battle control centre. As I said in my descriptions, if you change the modular interior, you can ultimately cram about 120 troops in there. |

Well, I see the third trooper in the last pic got REALLY excited about this ship. This thing is awesome! I like the use of Bley and Grey together. Some builders say that's a cardinal sin, but I think they look good. Great build and can't wait to see what's next from you! ~ Chris.
*BOING!* ;-) Meh, cardinal sin, schmardinal, erm, schmin. I too like how these colours work together. I have some ideas for some new builds, but I think I won't be starting on them until next week. |

Heh, I am honoured that you think that this might be part of a show, but no. I only finished this yesterday. Posted pics of it just after I finished it. |
