"One of the Rebellion's most well-armed starfighters, the B-wing has been personally designed by Admiral Ackbar. The B-wing supports an array of weapons including ion cannons, proton torpedo launchers, and laser cannons."
¯General Carlist Rieekan
About this creation
This is my second mid-scale ship, the B-Wing Assault Fighter. The ship's wings are fully articulated, and the cockpit can (with some effort) be rotated. I think it might be a little smaller than to-scale with my A-Wing, but I couldn't find another solution for the cockpit.
Small details:
>Stabilizer fin on the back of the engine unit
>Use of LEGO's detailed guns again. I also used this one.
>In order to prevent the bottom wing from being too thick and long, the studs change directions 4 times in the wing attachment alone. They change directions 6 times in the entire craft (I think).
By the way, for those of you wondering why it is a 'B-Wing':
"The craft derives its name from the fact that the crew labeled the two new Rebel starfighter models in Return of the Jedi as "A fighter" and "B fighter". While the A-wing looks similar to a capital A, the B-wing, on first glance, does not resemble its namesake. However, when viewed upon from a certain angle, it looks like a lowercase b. The in-universe answer is that "B" stands for "Blade", making the craft's full name "Blade-wing starfighter"". (from Wookieepedia)

I don't know if they make trans pieces as big as your cockpit, but, if they do, maybe replace the gray cone with a trans black?
I totally agree with that, however, I checked the Bricklink database, and LEGO does not make the 2x2x2 cone in any transparent color. |

I really like how the shape of this turned out. I don't know if they make trans pieces as big as your cockpit, but, if they do, maybe replace the gray cone with a trans black? |

Wow, great job! I love the vent pieces you used on it and you did a flawless job on the shape! The idea with the rifle as a bottom turret is an amazing idea! Everything looks great. Oh, and could you check out my next part of brothers in arms? |

I think it might look even better, with cheese slopes on the front of the engine area, instead of grill tiles.
The problem is that the intake is only a 2x2 area, so the cheese wedges would make it look like it was covered with metal plates. I was going for a grill look. I actually recently acquired the Nu-class assault shuttle, which has four of the 1x2 cheese grills, so I'll probably update this model with those. |
