This is where the Trebuchet adventure began. A day of the History channel and lots of LEGO to build with. And of course, the ultimate questions, Can I? and Why Not?
About this creation
I wanted to be as traditional as possible, so I designed it myself with no plans only visuals from the episode on siege weapons and images online.
I originally added the tires to make it mobile, but found that it shifted to much, so I took them off later on.
In keeping with a 100% LEGO theme I used the weighted bricks from the boat sets. I can add quite a few of them depending on what I am throwing.
UPDATE!!!!!!!
This MOC has earned the status of "Longest Distance Thrown by a LEGO Medieval War Machine"
At Brickworld 2009 this trebuchet set a new distance record for 4- 2x4 bricks at 38ft. 7in. It crushed the record I set last year with my large trebuchet by over 12ft.!!! I will be updating these photos soon to reflect the changes made in order to beat the record set last year. For those of you who were at Brickworld 2008, you may have forgotten that this one placed 2nd in the contest that year, it was the fact that people would forget about it that made it possible for me to surprise everyone with its performance in 2009. I hope that this contest will continue to challenge more people to have fun with siege weapons of all types.
