Zoomer
Again, not truly a vig. A Zoomer, from Metroid Prime, hence the bluish coloring. They're supposed to be gray, yellow or red, but in Prime they always look blue...
About this creation
Or maybe my TV just has weird colors?

While it may not be truly color-accurate, it captures the shape well, I think. And, if all else fails, I've found a very interesting way to make a hedgehog =).

The construction is very simple, and should be comprehensible from the pic of the Zoomer's underside. However, let it be known in advance... THIS WILL KILL YOUR CLIPS. Don't blame me, I said it.

The rock is my favorite part of this MOC, because the Zoomer is not color-accurate.

Also, this was blogged recently at Metroid Quarantine

Nice work. These things annoy the heck out of me, but I love the technique with the arms. Nice job. Check out my Metroid builds, if you find the time.

Cool. Prime 1 is my favorite because it has the most lush enviroment.

Quoting Nowhere man Oh yeah, metroid enemy suggestion... 0_0 chozo-ghost... that would be so sweet. But thinking realistically, I'd say, try your hand at a... why not? Try a space pirate. Or better yet, an arial-trooper (from prime-1 of course!)
Hmmm... these are good. Thanks! The ghost would be way hard, and it's another Ruins enemy, so I'll probably do the pirate(s) first, though I'm indecisive as to which one... And thanks Dali!

Quoting Toby Heinemann Nice update, I still think this rocks. BTW, I still need suggestions... Sorry to hear that you're spending less time here, But I can sympathize with the lack of computer use during the summer, my dad is very strict about that with me (and he's German, too...). Great build here, though!
Well actually, I work at a summer camp every year and since I don't have a laptop... But if you check out the websites i noted in the dialouge for this creation (specifically therebelution.com) I think you'll find (because I judge you to be that kind of person, which is a good thing) that they're worth sacraficing MOCpages time to. Also, in addition to the other huge projects I mentioned but haven't actually done anything about, I've been inspired to build a photo-realistic Battlefield 2142 mech (the kind with two mini-guns mounted underneath the cab) So you might want to be on the lookout for WIP post sometime before 2010. Well, I've gotta go. Chem is a *female dog* and I really dislike it because I have to get so much of it done before summer (building a house sort of causes schoolwork to pile up unfortunatly). But I'll still be active here. Probably checking things out once a week or so. Hey, also, let me know if you get involved with therebelution.com, I'd like to know. Well, like I said, gotta run. Quoting Dali Zheng Haha, I wouldn't be surprised if you outdid me. btw i got my 750 parts, and surprisingly a lot of them, I'd say 300, are useful parts. I got a bunch of 1x1 pieces so I'm happy.
Alright then, I may have to look into bulk Ebay ordering. I'll finally make my Bricklink order this weekend-- I've been procrastinating too. Plus, I just ordered the rest of TTGL, so that took a while. This weekend I'll hopefully also start NGE, but I've had a lot of homework due to impending finals, so I haven't had much time to spare on it yet. Good luck with your Pirouette, hopefully it'll turn out nicely.

Quoting Dali Zheng Competition? o_O I think I'm about to get owned then. lol
You're too nice... I don't think it's nearly as good as your work (although I do really like it). And remember, you doing something inspired by Izmojuki caused me to be inspired by Izmojuki-- think of it as almost a reminder of how awesome yours was.

Quoting Areetsa C Nice; it's not just your TV, though; they look blue on mine too. It's an interesting and creative design, but not quite my style, though.
Good, it's nice to know my TV isn't off tint, I hate calibrating the old thing... As for the rest-- Whatever floats your boat. I just experimented and found something that looked like a Zoomer shell, so I used it. Thanks!

Quoting Phong Chang I wanna pet teh porcupine!
I LOLed so hard at this... Thanks! Oh, did you see I'm on Flickr now Phong?
Quoting Knoll Grey probably one of the hardest metroid monsters that could be built, great work replicating it!
Yeah, it was quite a bit of a struggle to come up with the design for the Zoomer itself. The curved shell is the hardest part, by so much... Thanks!

Quoting Nowhere man The only thing that I'm not 100% happy about with this creation is the Zoomer itself. It's a work of genius and you probably can't get any better at that scale, but for some reason I think it just looks a little odd. Probably just the shape. Now moving onto the dio itself. Fantabulisticly amazing. Pure and simple. I might say "more moss!" but I know how legos work and know that this is a work of art. I love how you made the two rocks and It's all just perfect. I'd really like to make my own MP dio now. We'll see. Maybe I should try for Phendrana Drifts. Or maybe Phazon Mines? The third level with the dark and the mushrooms? Hmm... Keep on building ~ Nowhereman
DO IT!!!!! As for your first bit-- I know what you mean, it's probably the head that throws you off. It extends forwards on this, but in reality it is sunk into the carapace. My problem, though, was that I couldn't find another part to use--this worked with the rest of the design too well. As for the rest-- Thanks! The moss was a major consideration, but after trying SO MANY combinations (<===according to MOCpages, this word doesn't exist...) I found this to look best. Also, I personally would love to work on dios in other areas. In fact, I've turned this into a project that will ultimately feature enemies from every area and sub-area of Prime (suggestions for which foes to include welcome). I'd love to see you do a drifts dio, and I'd love to make one myself, as well. Thanks very much for the kind words.

Quoting Dali Zheng Hey Toby, on a completely unrelated note, I bought 750 Lego pieces off of eBay for $16 inc. shipping. The seller says that they're pretty much random and I'm expecting a multi-colored mass of pieces. 16/750 is about 2 cents a piece, which is actually a pretty good deal even if I mostly get random useless pieces. Buying cherry-picked parts from BrickLink averages about 8 cents a piece for me. I'll tell you how it goes.
Yeah, and I'll be waiting with bated breath. I've always wondered about the practicality of bulk buying from Ebay. BTW, I have a Flickr account now: http://www.flickr.com/photos/tobyhein/ Only 1 photo up right now, but soon more.

Quoting Dali Zheng I've never played Metroid Prime, but this is an awesome MOC. Very creative use of minifig arms and horns. And the rock is nice, too :)
Thanks. If you like platformer games, action games, FPS games or games with a deep and involving story, as immersive as you want them to be... then play Metroid Prime. All of these and more, it really is one of the best games ever made. Anyways, thanks! I really like how the whole thing turned out, especially since the rock was another less than 1 hour build.
