After some feedback from the minifigure crew of the Ember Rayne (and the addition of new parts to LDD), an upgraded version of the ship's Jet Pack has become available.
About this creation
Aside from the snazzy splash of color, the new version of the Jet Pack includes several new features. Unlike the first Jet Pack, the upgraded version is now truly strapped to the back, freeing the pilot from the need to always keep at least one hand on the control handles.

An extra large oxygen tank has been added to the back of the pack, replacing the smaller internal one on the previous model. This allows longer jaunts in space, and is also more easily replaced on the fly.

Now that they no longer need to support the weight and thrust of the jet pack, the control handles have been remodeled with more ergonomic grips and with the ability to fold back and away when the pilot needs both hands free.

Shown here with out a manikin, the final new feature can be seen clearly. Mounted on two support arms are spotlights, since Space is generally a very dark place. The lights can also be used for signaling.
