I admit it, I've got the fever. I started with one, but as they say, all good things come in twos (or threes, I forget). So here it is, the second in a class of Super dreadnoughts. Enjoy!
About this creation
I really do love a good prow shot!
The very front was sort of a causualty in this shot, but still a good look.
Here are the stats:
Length: 1,020 meters (59 studs)
Beam: 250 meters (12 studs)
Height: 55 meters
Weapons:
1 Heavy turret with 4 heavy manifold lithium cannons, accounting for nearly 1/4 the total weight of the Black Sun
1 Fast-tracking turret with 2 light manifold lithium cannons
2 Rapid-fire single lithium turrets for continuous fire
9 Light lithium, anti-aircraft/light cruiser turrets holding 18 guns
1 Fixed forward microwave laser cannon for stationary targets such as spaceports
Engines:
3 Type 7.0 nuclear-powered lithium-particle engine generating 5.0x10^9 N
2 Type 1.5 nuclear-powered steering engines generating 4.6x10^3 N
4 Type 1.2 inter-atmospheric manuvering engines generating 3.5x10^5 N (inter-atmospheric manuvering takes more because of air resistance)
Targeting:
5 cross-referencing laser targeting sensors.
Sheilds:
7 triple-redundant high-intensity, alternating frequency emitters powered by two nuclear reactors. These shields deflect electromagnetic pulses, intense radiation, plasma, and all forms of projectiles.
In service:
Command: 18th Deep Space Fleet
Section: 1st Flotilla, the "Hade's fury"
Years in service: 12
Close-up of the bridge, only one because there are no heavy-bombardment guns to command as there are on the Dawn Bringer.
I actually built the turret first, then built the battleship around it.
I like the way it turned out, too. You can see how I used a rather interesting method to secure the guns.
The triple-crown of space, the huge engines that keep the Black Sun moving.
Though not as powerful as the Dawn Bringer's guns, this thing is capable of dealing massive damage.
Brothers in arms. Many times the Dawn Bringer and Black Sun have campaigned together. Once, the Dawn Bringer sustained catastrophic damage, the Black Sun towed the Dawn Bringer for three star systems before help could arrive. The crews are close knit as well.
Showing how much larger is the Black Sun is over the Dawn Bringer.

A great addition to the U.N.E. Science Fleet. I do have to mention something though, I don't think that most any type of shield would be able to stop mac gun slug, maybe slow it down a lot so that it doesn't cause too much damage especially when we have to go up against ships like the Thyre, i think that's how it's spelled. Any way still a very good ship. |
