WIP Ground attack fighter
A variant on an existing exodyne, for the UNE.
About this creation
This is only here because I want to know what the grand folk in the UNEA think needs to be added.

Yes, the photo is dark, but take it from the designer, you're not missing anything.

And NO, I'm not going to put a superbomb for cracking the High Ground on the underside!

Quoting Dali Zheng If this is intended to enter and re-enter an atmosphere like Earth's, the guns should be recessed into the body. The gun barrels would likely disintegrate, unless it has an uber powerful shield generator of doom. I expect all UNE combatants to don the red/grey/bley color scheme otherwise we would have trouble quickly distinguishing who is whose side in a battle.
I don't have the PARTS for a red-grey-bley colour pattern on this. Anyhow, I suppose my statement could be confusing; it IS intended to reenter an earthlike atmosphere, but it's intended to do so in an ablative cocoon. After the reentry is complete, the cocoon breaks off and the fighter performs whatever objectives required a patrol ship to interfere. Then it goes back into a low orbit and refuels. However, that is for the patrol ship, not this ground attack variant. The air support model (this) is intended to land and take off vertically, as a tailsitter, into and from a cradle. Not exactly the most efficient of methods, but it's only a stopgap measure until real ground attack planes can come.

Quoting karta deraji Personally, a ground attack fighter needs to be boxy. Even though I'm in the E.O.S., I think it looks good! Nice wings, body, and weapons systems. Some mechanical detail would be nice. It looks kind of plain. Still, it's a great improvement. Now build something sleek.
Mechanical detail? You want mechanical detail? Not happening. Mechanical detail means exposed mechanisms and this is a modified Exo. Atmospheric. Patrol. Ship. That means it has to re-enter, meaning that although the shape doesn't matter, an open hatch is a death warrant. Sleek? You want sleek? Here, have it: http://mocpages.com/moc.php/84255 and yes, I do intend to retake the photos at some point in the future.

Quoting Dali Zheng This should be red instead of blue to fit the UNE color scheme. Also try making the body look less rectangular.
It's not rectangular, per se; it tapers down near the end, you just can't see because of the badly lit picture. However, this is an adaption of an existing long duration patrol craft, so it's not exactly meant to be sleek. As for the colors, there's three explanations for them: one, it's not UNE as such; it's a component of an Imperial expeditionary unit that's been adjusted and delegated to UNE control. Two, Imperial spacecraft colour schemes are based on intentions; blue markings indicate a patrol unit, yellow marks a dropship or transport, white-grey-crimson a medical transport, etc. etc. Three, and working in #2, as a quick adaption of a Valke to fit a role it was suited for, the intention was less repaint and more 'slap rocket pods on the sides, autocannon under the wings and extra ammo for all'.

I'm working on a heavy bomber as of five minutes ago after reading your complaints in the UNE group. This looks nice, and I agree, we have practically NO air vehicles. I've made 2 fighters, though.

Quoting Clan Father Erik Ackroyd This may very well be what the UNE needs...Can't wait for the final version!
This IS, just about, the final version. Most of what you can see in this particular pic is liable to end up looking about the same, although a few minor things might get removed or added or tweaked. Basically, I'm only doing this because there might be something I forgot that could be added; sort of working the UNE members into the design process. It's a very entertaining method of being lazy. You should try it some time; it can even, in some rare cases, result in a suggestion being made that just makes you go 'GAH! Why didn't / think of that?!'
