About this creation
Greetings loyal readers! Welcome to part 2 of my post for Shaddix's group, "The Tape Measure!" I won't waste your time here with mindless blather and thinly veiled innuendo, I'll just get right to the update. I was able to score a lot of these storage containers on clearance at Target and sears. I love that clearance ailse... So then it was time to put them to good use! Here we go...

Ok... starting off with the update, on top is the small box with the pink slopes that my daughter picked out when we went to Pick A Brick and my white picket fences. Thought it fitting to put both of those in the same box. Then starting in the drawers, trans 1x2 windows (most of them are in a build right now so this is usually full), Miscellanous grill tiles, and then bley grill tiles... you can NEVER have too many bley grill tiles.

White 1x2, misc 1x2 and then bley 1x2... again, you can NEVER have too many Bley 1x2 plates. And I don't have em in the pics here, but I was able to score some BIG bley tile plates today. I don't know what the measurements on them are but I think they're about 4 studs wide by 12 studs long. Those things are cool.

Tiles with graphics and circular tiles. Then all the little single tiles. Then the bottom is "edge" tiles and some slope type stuff (that's not really brick but not really tiles) and cheese wedges... mmm cheese wedge... great, now I'm hungry.

Two boxes of technic connectors. All types and sizes (just the way the girls like it). I'll just let you figure out which size fits in which hole...

This box contains 1x1 clears, my "foliage collection", and then the backbone of every minifig army, the weapons! There's also a bunch of other minifig accesories in here but I'm too lazy to name them and you're too bored already to read it.

Here we go with 1x2 trans clear. Then 1x2 clear bricks. Again, the bricks are mostly in use in a moc right now. This section of the box is usually filled to capacity. Then on the end is misc trans stuff. Again, too much to label and too boring to read.

Most of my single studs (Shut it Kelso). I do have two seperate containers for trans blue and trans yellow studs but again... all being used right now. Then we have 2x2 misc plates and then 2x2 yellow and red plates. Too many to put in the misc drawer and too few to each have their own. But the color contrast works well in one.

All of these are 2x2. Starting at the top working down (again kids, that's how the ladies like it... You can't just start at the bottom. You have to build up to the big one. Remember that and you'll be just fine.) Light blue, then dark blue and on the bottom is grey.

Here we go.. home stretch. Hang in there people. 1x4s then 1x6s and on the bottom 1x8s. Again, ladies like the bigs ones in their bottom drawers. Write me in a few years when you get that joke. Or just go check your mom or older sister's bottom drawer and see what I'm talking about...

Ok, last of the drawers... 1x4 brown then my drawer of trans dark blue bricks. Both 1x1 and 1x2s. and last but not least, all my green 1x4s. And you people thought I had too many... you can NEVER have too many green tiles! NEVER!

These last two are part of my pick a brick score today. I reorganized a little of what you saw up top to make room for this stuff. Now, tell me those trans blue 1x2 supports aren't sexy! I moved the foliage out and into it's own box for the time being to make room for them.

And here we have on the left, smoke trans 1x2 bricks in one box. The box on the right is clear cheese wedges and clear round studs. Wish I had those when I did MOC Wars Episode 5. They would have looked great for bullet trails (Thanks to Shannon Young for that idea). Moving on, now I know usually if you use the words "translusent green" and "Cheese" in the same sentence, it's a bad thing. But not here! Man those things are awesome. I have no idea what I'm going to use these for, but I'm sure I'll come up with something.

Fourth Wall Commentary: Again, this whole post is fourth wall commentary, but isn't that always the way with stuff like this? After my first post in "The Tape Measure" group, I decided to get down to it and reorganize a lot of my stuff. Most of the regular blocks and what not are still in the boxes, but I went through and redid... well, all you see here. And then I decided to post it because I won't be posting any MOCs till mid June probably since I'm working on my Brickworld build. And can I just say that organizing this stuff like this has really cut down on the "where the heck is it?!?!" time during building... HUGE time saver! Till next time true believers! ~ Chris.

Glad I'm not the only one who is an aging AFOL and obsessed! Maybe I should post my Lego room on my page and all the containers and containers of bricks. Thanks for all the comments and support this year!

Wow, that dwarfs my collection. And that isn't all, from what I've seen. I can't believe I only got about 20 of the 1x2 trans blues at the PAB wall....

lol I have a set of plastic bags for system and some boxes for Bionicles... I might do something like that as soon as my room doesn't look like a crime scene anymore... :)

Hmm, it can be reassuring to compare size but it can also knock your confidence if yours isn't as big as the next man's. Especially if he's confident enough to post photos of his on the net. But enough innuendo, it's actually quite useful to see how another AFOL manages his addiction, erm I mean collection. Thanks for the fave too!

Pick-a-brick excels at being random. Why, just this past summer I went to one, and went crazy on the bley 2x2 tiles (I got 80 of 'em; I COUNTED), a few trees and LOTS of orange 4x1 bricks. I got a lot more but that list going into a good comment does not work.

Quoting Cody G maybe I'll post one of these things soon. of course, my lego collection isn't quite so big, but it's not how big it is, but how you use it, am I right?
True for the most part... but size helps. Wait, am I still talking LEGO?

Quoting Chas Irish You should have known I wouldn't have cared because of the mom joke on my Sigfig. Say what ever you want to me. I could care less. I'm sorting my LEGOs also. It looks like I have a lot less LEGOs than before the sorting.
I'll remember that. And remember, LEGO in bins are larger than they appear. Or is that objects in mirrors are larger...? No, that's what is says on the mirror over my bed.

Quoting Giovanni Seynhaeve man, your stuff is getting bigger proportions...uhm, that didn't come out the way I wanted to. I mean, I didn't want to come out the way you wanted to... I mean...nevermind... way to go Chris, now go and build me something!
HAHAHA!
Quoting Chas Irish No one has said anything about "Extenze" yet? Did you get the idea while in the bathroom Chris?
If it had been Kelso or Shaddix who had said that I would have responded “No actually, I was in your mom’s room.” But since I don’t know you that well, I’ll just laugh ‘cause that was pretty funny.
Quoting Emperor Ludgonious Blaming the pink slopes on the daughter huh? Nice collection. It has grown since you last shared. So, what have you been using to experience so much growth in your drawers?
I swear it was her!... And I could tell you, but it’s classified and I’d have to kill you. You understand. But MAN is this stuff good!

Quoting Brian Kescenovitz You gotta start rockin’ those bionicle clearance sets!
I actually haven’t sorted all my technic yet. A lot of it is still mixed in with the “regular” tubs. Oh and I did “rock the bionicle clearance sets” (two #8941 for 20 bucks each!) when I picked up those clear boxes at Sears. SCORE!
Quoting Shannon Young …until you find certain pieces are overflowing your carefully organized system and you have to do a further re-sort and division with more bins or trays. It's a never ending process.
Already there my friend… already there.
Quoting JD Luse Holy cow...just how many Lego stores are there in Chicago?
4 if you count the one at Lego Land.

Lookin good... for now. The thing about this addiction is you get it all sorted, then you get more Lego, and more Lego, and more Lego... until you find certain pieces are overflowing your carefully organized system and you have to do a further re-sort and division with more bins or trays. It's a never ending process. And my first thought was similar to Brian's: pretty skimpy Technic trays there. Your "sexy" pieces make up for it though, oh I could do some things with those...

Nice and tidy, Chris, but I have to say, that is a pretty sad collection of technic connectors. I’m a firm believer that bionicle/technic helps you think outside the standard system box…when used in moderation, of course. You gotta start rockin’ those bionicle clearance sets!

Great collection. Just looking at the bins makes me think of my own unsorted invintory. Sigh...the only thing I might offer is that with all that shiny plastic in these photos, the flash really isn't your friend. I guess alternate lighting would be difficult, but the glare form the flash is a beast! Attack!

It's a good thing to have everything sorted out. I bag all the small parts or small amounts of colors but I don't use the drawer type boxes just the cheap tubs from Target when they are on sale. I can see the practical side of using drawers though. Once I got sorted it was easier to find something. Of course I still have a tub of unsorted parts that I like sifting through. see ya. garth

Funny you should mention the cockpits *snicker*. I actually had them all in a couple Pick A Brick cups in another room at the time I took these pics. Still have to sort those.

ABSOLUTLY! If you need to keep looking for parts every time, that's every time. But if you're sorted, you only have to look for it once. That's IMAO of course.
