This is a 1990 Jeep Wrangler. It is similar to the vehicle I drive right now (well, a real 1992 Wrangler, anyway).
I recently added a 4x2/4x4 four-speed transmission (switchable between two-wheel- and four-wheel-drive with a button on the bottom). I also added a fully-independent suspension, a "working" V-8 motor and steering. I even managed to get the battery box inside the rear storage compartment so it's self-contained on the vehicle.
Well, the main picture has no roll bar yet, true. The rest of the pictures clearly show the roll bar in place. This LEGO Jeep also has an "incorrect" V-8 motor in addition to the incorrect double wishbone suspension. A straight 6 would not fit and solid axles in LEGO with a full working 2WD/4WD suspension? Nearly impossible (but I could do it if I really HAD to ;)
That rollcage made from round bricks and those little antenna pieces is sheer genius! It's really got me thinking about new possibilities.
Look at that body - the styling is perfection itself. The engine bay is brilliantly detailled and I love the extensive lighting. People that build 1990 four-wheel-drives with electric lights are totally awesome!!!
You know I just can never get enough of this YJ. I can't believe the amount of working parts you were able to fit in. I love building jeeps, and I just finished my first 14 wide model. I try to reference this build but I get overwhelmed by the sheer size of it. amazing!
