Battle before the Fuel Station. There's action in this one, and the philosophy you've all been not waiting for.
About this creation
Good morning, afternoon, or evening, viewer. Not much to say up here today, for a change, other than watch the link I'll provide below. It's only 13 seconds, please watch it, it gives you an idea of what VF-S 1's voice sounds like:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XgH83IqL8T8&feature=related
Rember, captions below the photos!

Fleet Lord Aemowes: This station of the EOS’s has enough fuel to power the entire 3rd Fleet for a year. This is why we’re capturing it.
VF-S 1/Varion: UNDERSTOOD.
Aemowes: This place really needs to be fixed up… Half the floor lights are out…

Vice Admiral Layman: Greetings, Fleet Lord.
Lieutenant Hood: Greetings, sir.
Aemowes: Ya, ya, ya… What’s the situation?
Lieutenant Hood: The Harbinger coordinates are set, all guns are primed and loaded, we’re ready to jump on your command, sir.
Aemowes: Good. Layman, let’s go over the attack plan once more.

VF-S 1/Varion: GREETINGS TO YOU, ORGANIC.
Lieutenant Hood: Whoa! Where’d you come from!?
VF-S 1/Varion: I’VE BEEN HERE THE WHOLE TIME.
Hood: Oh…
VF-S 1/Varion: WHAT IS YOUR NAME?
Hood: Umm… Lieutenant John Hood. Before you ask, I was born on Earth; family moved to a colony, colony was captured.

VF-S 1/Varion (shakes his hand): I AM PLEASED TO MEET YOU, LIEUTENANT JOHN HOOD. I AM VF-S 1.
Hood: Uh… Pleased to meet you to, I guess…

Vice Admiral Layman: Sir, why is there a machine on the bridge?
Aemowes: There’s a machine up here? Oh, that’s right, VF-S 1. I wasn’t aware it followed me.
VF-S 1/Varion: I AM STANDING RIGHT HERE, YOU KNOW.
Layman: Well, shouldn’t it leave?

VF-S 1/Varion: IF YOU ARE GOING TO TALK ABOUT ME, ADRESS ME DIRECTLY. I AM NOT AN ANIMAL AT YOUR FEET.
Layman: It’s aware of itself. Interesting.
Aemowes: Alright, VF-S 1, off the bridge. We’ll alert you when you’re needed.

VF-S 1/Varion (after walking out of the bridge): HELLO THERE, LITTLE ORGANIC.

Aemowes: Plug in the coordinates.
Hood: Yes sir.
(Arcs of blue energy began circling around the ship at the FTL drive nears terminal velocity)
Hood: Jumping in 5… 4… 3… 2… 1… Jump!
(Harbinger disappears in a flash of blinding blue light. For a moment, the ship is in a white, endless plain. In real space, arcs of energy begin forming where Harbinger will emerge. Another flash, and the ship appears where the energy was.)
Layman: We have contact! One unknown EOS ship, and the fuel station.
Aemowes: Have the forward battery get a firing solution on that ship! All other cannons, prepare to engage.

(The Harbinger’s forward MAC cannons launch a volley at the EOS ship, taking down it’s shields)

(The Harbinger, while the enemy is confused, falls into a circular path, opposite of the enemy ship. The cannons begin to fire.)

VF-S 1/Varion: HIGHER ORGANIC LIFE FORMS ARE CONFUSING. THEY CONSTANTLY HAVE TO BE SUPERIOR TO EVERYTHING ELSE. JUST NOW, I, THEIR EQUAL, WAS TREATED LIKE… WELL, LIKE I WAS YOU. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND.

(Harbinger’s batteries continue to throw self propelled shells at the EOS cruiser, which in turn has charged it’s plasma cannons up.)

OH, SMALL LIFE FORM. HOW EASY YOU HAVE IT. EVEN NOW, I HAVE REALIZED THIS. ALREADY I AM QUESTIONING THEM… …WHEN THE THREE QUESTION THEIR PLACE IN THE UNIVERSE… ERROR: VOCABULATOR GLITCH. I APOLOGIZE.

(The EOS ship returns fire with it’s plasma cannons, but is at a severe disadvantage: The ship’s shields are down, but the Harbinger’s are still up. The COP battleship continues it’s volley’s at the enemy.)

(Two Coalition Marines run by, staring at the machine and cat on the floor.)
VF-S 1: WHAT?
Thyrendi Marine: That’s the strangest sight I’ve seen today…
VF-S 1/Varion: KEEP RUNNING, ORGANICS. AFTER ALL, I AM NO BETTER THAN THIS CAT TO YOU…

(The EOS Ship is taking massive damage without it’s shields, the sheer force of the kinetic energy of the shells flying un-resisted through space smashing through it’s armor with ease.)

(Finally, the Harbinger break through the EOS’s armor, and the shells ignite the fuel tanks, the enemy ship blowing apart.)

Hood: VF-S 1, the Fleet Lord needs you to accompany our boarding team to the fuel station.
VF-S 1/Varion: FINALLY, I AM ADRESSED PROPERLY. THANK YOU, LIEUTENANT JOHN HOOD.
Hood: If you’re as free-willed as the rest of us, why not address you like you’re one of us?
VF-S 1/Varion: YOU ARE PERHAPS THE MOST INTELEGENT ORGANIC I’VE MET SINCE DOCTOR THOMPSON.
Hood: Well, thanks, but you have somewhere to go.
VF-S 1/Varion: INDEED.
Fun but-not-really facts:
Organics don't see machines as equals, with the exception a few. And why not? They are just tools... Well, with the exception of a few.
Inspired by the Battle of the Resurecion ship ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oShM7Bcml0w ), which in the actual show, had some philosophic parts mixed between the actual battle, which is the link I provided. And this is yet another opportunity to show you how much this series if inspired by Battlestar Galactica. That show dominates my life.
Combine information on the AOT topic "This will change your life", and information here, you can now peice together my real name. Good luck, it might be hard if you don't follow the facts.
For those of you who are surely bound to be saying "Gunz cant beat plasma!!!!!!!!!", I'll stop you before you begin:
In air, an artillery shell can go about 1,500 meters a second. In space, an artillery shell can have the -potential- to go the speed of light (that's where it'd become a particle beam, but that's another story). Since there is no air or wind or anything to stop the shell, it's kinetic energy of impacting something alone is really powerful, that's not even counting the explosive force of a shell. And since the KEW's and MAC's are extremely powerful weapons, they are launch shells at tens thousands of miles an hour. DO NOT underestimate guns in space. And the Harbinger still had shields up, EOS ship didn't, that's why it was taken down so easy.
Sorry about the crappy photoshop, I'm still getting the hang of it.

But does the magnetic shields protect against plasma and laser aswell, as they're not magnetic, or even that material at all? Then they would require another shield, protecting from lasers and/or plasma. I think. |

It doesn't protect against lasers, but it does against plasma. Plasma has to be magnetized in order for it to be launched effectively. |

I really like the battle, and I am intrigued by the theory of guns in space. But, just thought of it: if the "shields" are energy shields, wich I asume they are, they shouldn't be very effektive against shells, as "space shields" are mostly for repelling laser shots, and as laser isn't actuall materia, the shields shouldn't be made to counter materia, as materia can only be stopped by materia, or a steady force working against it. A very strong magnetic device, covering the entire ship making all shells go in other directions would probably be able to work, but energy shields... nah.
PoaM for ever! |

Actually, your proposal of magnetic forces diverting incoming ordinance is precisely what these shields are.

An old lego group that was a "rival" to us COP. Those days are gone though, so think of it only as a small side faction that lives on only in memory. |

Well, all I had to do was look up "hood" in Italian and deduce which one was the piece of clothing. So, now I get to celebrate for getting it correct! ;-D Edit: Don't tease me! Hurry up and get to the good stuff! I want to look deep within you soul and grasp your deepest thoughts...I will consume your entity. On a secondary note; have you ever read the "Bartimaeus Trilogy"? It contains some philosophy if you read between the lines, and it is a rather interesting series.
That's the one about the demon or whatever, and the kid summons him, then they stop that one guy and the uber entity creature he summons? If so, I've read the first one, and I'd like to read the second, but haven't gotten around to it. |

Nice job! I like the story, and will definitely be following this one. Since we all seem to be talking about technology and stuff, I have a question: exactly what kind of shielding do COP, UNE, and EOS ships use? Electromagnetic fields? Pure energy? Something I've never heard about?
I'm not really sure. Whatever can stop plasma and bullets at the same time though...

This an interesting plot builder, but I don't see any deep philosophy. Instead, I see the realization of your own human emotion portrayed via the personification of VS-F 1. Anyhow, this is still a great story and contains some nice scenery. So John Hood, hmm...I'll get back to you on your name.
The deep philosophy is coming. I need to hook my regular readers in first before I can get to the good stuff. Probably 4, because they have to board the fuel station, then VF-S 1 has to ask a few hard questions, get no answers, which lead to more questions.. Then we get to the philosophy.

SO halo influinsed you to your cop ship used macs to take down the eos ships shields and any halo player that even skimmed the halo novels knows that the mac is the magnetic acselerater cannon . my only question is why didnt the mac gut the ship?!?!? any way this is one of your better ones
It was Ian who spread the word of the MAC. I merely followed, and are spreading the word of the Kinetic Energy Weapon. THe MAC knocked out the shields, but since EOS ships look so flimsy, I thought that they must have a lot of shields. So the Heavy MACs only took out the shields, leaving the medium MACs and KEW's to take out the hull. It was more fun to do it that way then just go Battlestar Pegasus and keep shooting with the heavy guns till they
explode. |
