This Mech has 4 motorized functions - top half turns side to side, flashing lights in the forward gun barrels simulate laser fire, missle doors open & close, and fire 6 missles (2 at a time). Non motorized functions include: cockpit opens, sliding doors on top reveal vertical launch missles that can be raised to simulate pre launch.
About this creation
This mech is about 16 inches tall and is REALLY heavy. It has 2 mini-fig pilots and I used storm troopers because they are just plain cool.
This one was a hard build that I thought about scraping several times. Anyone who has attempted the hybrid of LEGO & Technic LEGO could understand my frustation in trying to make all those motor functions work.
In this picture, my finger is on the lever that raises the vertical launch missles. There are 2 levers, side by side, so the missles can be manually raised separately or together.
Here are some early shots as I was starting to build. I actually changed some things around with the way the motor works for the torso. I finally eliminated all those mess of gears after several attempts of trying to attain the right speed settings for the torso to move back & forth.
Hellow Shawn: your moc has been plagiarized and used for unfit reasons. Here's a like to the stolen MOC: http://mocpages.com/home.php/73401
Thanks. -Rev.
excuse me? it would be garbage if it was star wars! everyday garbage republic mocs come in, and nobody looks at them because they are all the same! THIS moc has personality!
I love that you went the extra mile on all the functional aspects. The missile bays opening up and popping up made my jaw hit the floor. That's the kind of stuff I'd love to incorporate in my stuff but always end up getting too lazy or running into too many size constraints or just plain lack the skill to pull off. Awesome mech!
One of the coolest mech's I've ever seen! In reponse to Dax's comment, it's very diffucult to create a walking motion with Lego builds. The motorized AT-AT walker looks like its drunk when it walks.
amazing! I am not much of a mech builder but i can tell this is one great piece of LEGO! (or pieces but hey whatever...) great work! and now i leave this amazing machine to look at your other MOCs!
BEAUTIFUL build, Shawn! The general form is nice to begin with, but your brilliant color work, detail, and cleanliness just sends it over the top...and THEN there's the functional aspects. Wow. Just fantastic!
EPIC!!!!! Just amazing!!! Man, I'm working to be THE best mecha builder and you just brought out a motorized mech! I can understand how to get all of the detail, but what really gets me is how to adapt it to a motor!

Is that cool, or what!!! Man, this clearly one of my favorite mechs existing, absolutly fantastic work! P.S.: Thank you so much for adding it to for adding it to the E.O.S.!
I like it

Wow Shawn! I'm just taken aback by the amount of detail and the complexity of this MOC. I am definitely going to have to spread the word on this one.
Yeah, I can see how that might be necessary with all that weight swinging around. This thing would be an absolute blast at a convention, suddenly coming to life and firing into the crowd…;-)

Wow, this really is outstanding. Besides the motorized aspect (which is an amazing accomplishment) the mech just looks great! So huge, but still so much style and detail. I really like those vertical missile launchers on the back. The whole thing is so well done in fact, I almost hate to mention that, unless I’m missing something, the entire bottom half is basically static, and cannot be posed to any significant degree and still support it’s own weight. Of course I could be wrong, but the lack of a picture demonstrating that functionality leads me to believe it’s true, The simple fact is that it’s much easier to make huge mechs with awesome looking legs when they don’t have to move. It’s the Achilles heel of so many big mechs, and I’ve called so many people out on it, that I could not, in good conscience, let it go here. But obviously, this is only one person’s crotchety opinion. Please, feel free to ignore it, secure in the knowledge that this mech is the very definition of the word epic. A truly amazing MOC.
Yes the bottom half is static. I had to make the legs as rigid as possible because of the force generated by the top half moving side to side. The legs also had to be heavy to compensate the force.
Oh man, this is really neat! I know your pain, TRUST me. Wow, that video caught us off gaurd! LOL Perfect! I like your construction too. Looks great. ---you are right, it probably is really heavy. The fact that is stands on its own and moves like that is a sign of good construction. Bravo!
This is the sort of thing that makes me giggle because it's so cool. Though the top half is a little blocky it's very well done, and you incorporated all those functions very well.
Really an awesome design! It would be better if the legs could move (that would bring it to the level of Undeniably Epic) but the power functions keep it even. Awesome man.
The fully functional, mechanical aspect of the mech is amazing on its own, but what really sets this apart is the seamless, good looking mech built around the mechanics. Great job!
This is just flat out amazing work. Seriously, I'm impressed. Those motorized functions are really incredible; I'd particularly like to know how you did those lights in the front, and what control interface you are using. peace.

Instructions? Haha, just messin'. This is amazing! I can't believe you got all that 'stuff' to work and have the model come out looking this good. Great work! Peace - Packie
This is, quite simply, stunning. The fact that it not only is motorized but is motorized at the cost of nothing is amazing, and the design and color scheme for the rest of the mech is great as well. I've tried to make motorized mecha before (and will soon again), and it is HARD! On the subject of waking, was it something you considered? Especially with a biped, getting the weight to balance between steps is very difficult. Eventually, I plan to motorize a sentaped (is this even a word?) mecha-tank, so this is great as inspiration. Great job!
