Venus Gospel
About this creation
Let's face it: anime mechas don't make sense. Religion doesn't make much sense either. So why not combine the two? I like to make allusions to Christianity because it's so edgy. I'm not trying to knock on Christianity here, I am just skeptical about organized religion. If you happen to be offended, too bad. This also happens to be the 7th mecha I've built. Consider this work a parody of sorts...

The Venus Gospel is the unstoppable warrior of the Venus Collective. Attacks on it are mysteriously swayed away by a divine force...

Venus Gospel is here to wage a holy war. A war against the Star Wars and Halo building infidels.

Bring out the big guns.

I like the side profile on this mecha much more than my others. It's so very streamlined.

Sometimes you've got to pour some lead into the infidels.

That should make them shut up.

I tried making the rear jets resemble angel wings. It turned out to be pretty successful.

The amplifier and guitar are the funnest things I've built in a long time.

Well I heard there was a secret chord
That David played and it pleased the Lord,
But you don't really care for music, do you?
And it goes like this, the fourths, the fifths
The minor fall and the major lift,
The baffled king composing Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah...

For those of you who are wondering, Venus Gospel took a total of $140 of shopping around. $100 on Pick-a-Brick, $20 on the Space Skulls set (which is now sold out), and $20 tax + shipping/handling. On the upside, I still have about 1/2 of the pieces I bought that weren't used on Venus Gospel. It took a combined total of 30 hours to complete Venus Gospel.

Wow this is outstanding! I love all of the sculpting you did to the legs and body. This makes me want to start building mechs like this. Great job and I can't wait to see what you are going to build next. Ps I am a Christian but you have not offended me. You are just stating your opinion and I respect that. There is no harm done. -Garett Smith

Excellent mech. I agree with you that anime mechs don't make much sense. Same with religion, and to W. Mark; I suppose I can only speak for myself, but I don't see how any atheist/agnostic could find this offensive, as the nonsensicality of religion is pretty much the principle of atheism .

Nice job. You are skilled at making mechas. Can we have instructions please? Also, you are an atheist
  November 17, 2010
I wouldn't open a write-up with "Religion doesn't make much sense." You'll come across as rude, perhaps even to other atheists and agnostics. I like the mech itself, though. It's well built and cool-looking. You obviously understand that big creations should be built, not with big pieces, but with more smaller pieces. It looks great.

Quoting Justin Olson Solid build, concise concept. A perfect build. Mecha like this one and engineers like you are why I am getting back into LEGOs and want to design Mecha specifically. I am starting from scratch with zero pieces and $150 in LEGO gift cards, as a complete noob your purchase lists have been incredibly insightful, i was wondering if you could add a few pointers on must have pieces and good starting points (Phong Changs unArmoured frames have been incredible helpful as well) before i make and pieve purchases through their pick a brick. 'T' pieces are obviously the bread and butter of a good Mecha; What else? what are must haves? do you ever use Bricks or do you mostly only use flat peices? should I get lots of random things and try to "wing it"? or are there pieces you would suggest a beginner not using? Are there common beginner mistakes I should watch out for? Any insight at all would be much apreciated. sorry to bog down your comment feed, i wasnt sure where better to ask this and i really respect you as a designer through your builds as well as through your participation in the community.
Random pieces will work in your favor. I try to vary my parts usage as much as I can. Small plates, headlight bricks, etc. are very useful. Basically, most small pieces are crucial to mecha builds.

I'm gonna post a new Phong-Style mecha. It was built from the Ruins of the ALX-Ruiz. It may remind you of a classic Japanese Super Robot. Not boxy or boring shaped though. It's got a head similar to TTGL and the Salvation, and the legs are EPIC. It uses the Ruiz's weapon, but it's a martial arts mecha. It's got a somewhat skinny, but badss unique shape to it. You'll love it I'm sure. I just started and finished building it yesterday! It took me about 4-5 hours.

Quoting Zach Baker Dali, what are your influences on this, because I just found this link (http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=3166605) and immediately thought about this mech...maybe next time you could credit your influences in your description like most others, because I thought that this was a 100% (or close to it) Dali-style mech.
Yeah, I got the technique idea for the waist, gun barrel, and shield from this mech. The white/black color scheme is coincidental though.

Quoting Dali Zheng I suggest revising your MOCs in this theme so that it doesn't imitate my theme. Then again, it's up to you and I can't really do anything if you copy my theme.
They don't imitate and I am not copying your theme. This theme started with Izzo's Hero mecha, but then you told me to go Phong-Style and I decided to make a theme out of that. I got the idea of making a theme from you though, but my theme is actually very different from yours if you take the time to look closer.
  May 23, 2009
Quoting Dali Zheng You just said "Yup" to "Is Revelation going to be like your Venus Collective?" he's got a point, your theme is too similar to mine, so similar that it is more or less a copy. The main difference is the change from lime green to blue.
Dali, I meant that it's going to be my "theme" in the same way your Venus Collective is yours. This is in no way a copy. Look at the different techniques and parts usage thay my style uses. Can you honestly say it's a copy? I'd say you have it backwards. The only thing SIMILAR to the Venus Collective is the color. Either way, just because you made a theme with white as the main color doesn't mean that people who do so later on are copying you. Everyone has their own theme. Mine just so happens to have a somewhat similar color scheme to yours.

LDD would work awesome on a touch screen though!
  May 12, 2009
Screw LDD! It is so annoyingly hard to put parts together!!! I DLed it, but got MADD bored of it. It is too time consuming. Plus, real LEGO takes more skill, because you actually have to see if your mecha is balanced.

Quoting Phong Chang Well, I got my camera to English, but still can't adjust exposure or brightness. Maybe I need a more high tech camera.
There should be a manual mode on your camera that lets you adjust exposure. See if you can adjust your "ISO" setting. Your camera adjusts its shutter speed accordingly to how much light it detects. There's a way to manually set shutter speed.

Quoting Phong Chang SHlT! I set my camera's language to Japanese just because I thought it looked cool! Now I won't be able to change the settings unless I can figure out how to find the language settings again!
FAIL. Naw, I'm just kidding. Look in the manual for the camera, it'll show you where the settings icon is. Normally the languages menu has each language written with itself, so it shouldn't be too hard to find English again. On the 'photography' topic, I must agree with Dali-- use GIMP or Photoshop (I recommend the latter, but the former is free...). They're incredibly powerful and useful programs. I've been using Photoshop for over two years and I still don't know what everything does, but it's an extremely fun (albeit convoluted) program to use. Also, set your camera's white balance before you take a photo with different lighting-- at all. It'll make your pictures much, much sharper and more true-to-life in color.

Quoting Phong Chang How do you get your pics so nice?! I used natural lighting on the Revelation, but this still has better quality. Do you think it's my camera, or my lighting?
I used only natural lighting on this, too. Try manually setting your exposure longer on your camera (which I did with mine) which will help increase the overall brightness of the photo. I have a 10 year old professional digital camera (used to be my dad's). Another thing that will help if you can't figure that out is to use software like GIMP or Photoshop that can manually adjust color levels.

Quoting Brigadeer General John Spenscon I like it a lot I love the black intersections that connect the white armor makes it look more organic and the gun COULD USE SOME MORE DETAIL, but who am I to say anything?
As if 39 pieces for a tiny 1 stud wide gun wasn't enough detail... *rolls eyes*
Quoting Phong Chang I'm almost done with the Revelation. However, I shoulda ordered more tiles and 1x1 slopes, because it's not turning out exactly how I want it to.However, it still should be able to match Izzo's Hero mecha, and also surpass this!! MWAHAHAHAHA! I'm kidding. I think that this and the Revelation are good in different ways. Mine is all complex, but yours is madd sleek.

Someone called Dr. Sinister commented on the PAB price decrease which I agree with: 1) Company plans small price increase. 2) Company knows there will be long-term backlash. 3) Company accidentally triples the price. 4) Company admits a mistake and lowers price to a level slightly higher than the original price. 5) Company appears heroic and pro-active, but has its planned price increase with no long-term issues. -- so you see, Lego company could have planned this out, which is how I see it. I know it's cynical but it's how business usually works...

Quoting Phong Chang Dali, it may sound very closeminded, but EVERYTHING the Bible says is true. I may not have proof, but that's because of God's will. He cares more that we can believe in him rather the just straight up know he's there. Also, you said that science can explain God's mysterious ways, but it can't. Only the Bible and God himself can. Like I said, science may seem to make sense, but it's often deception caused by the Devil. There are many things in life that do make sense, but many of those things are wrong. Being right and making sense are 2 different things. Those unsolved mysteries are meant to remain how they are. Even if they seem like they can be explained through science, they can't. God want's those to remain mysteries so he can test our faith. Also, I understood fully what you, Toby, and Shannon believe, but I still disagree. God is much much more than the universe. He created the universe. He is THE most powerful and perfect being that will ever exist. He's not some heartbeat-like universe. WHO THE H___ DO YOU THINK HE IS?!?!?! (Sorry, the timing was perfect!!) PS: Even tough we believe differently, I still consider us friends...unlike some of those closeminded CFOLs who automatically misjudged and h8ted on you just because you don't share the same beliefs. Oh guess what: I have been hanging with Nat lately and she seems to like my. I mean, I just gave her $2 for icecream and she got over-ecstatic and told me she loved me. It's almost as if she was using the money as an excuse to say so. Also we were just hanging out in my mom's car, but I took the front seat. She acted as if the backseat was so bad, so she decided to sit in the same seat as me. It's like she just wanted to sit with me. She also decided to lay on me. Also, when my mom was taking me, Nat and friend Philip to the Filipino store, my mom kept taking sharp turns on purpose, and Nat kept slamming against me, but when my mom took sharp turns in the other direction, Nat didn't slam against Philip. It's almost like she was leaning on me on purpose and using the turns as an excuse. Well, I'm gonna go outside to hang out with her now, so see ya!

<<<<< Hey Dali, I'm Quoting you!!! I already read your comments in the group. But I think what my pastor was getting at was his own inner strife when questioning his beliefs. He felt the pressure of interpreting the Bible for us when he wasn't so sure of it himself. I can understand that indoctrinating someone else with your beliefs is a difficult task. I think you misunderstood the view of the universe that Toby, Shannon, and I share: the universe is a cosmic heartbeat that implodes and explodes. It doesn't have to have an exact beginning or an end to this cycle but that is besides the point. We never mentioned anything about a multiverse, so let's keep this discussion focused on the universe. Maybe you are unclear what a pantheist believes: God is the universe. The universe is God. Think about it: all the unsolved problems in modern science may reflect the "mysterious ways" in which God works, and that science is a method of exploring the mysterious nature of God. And in regard to your friend, being in a class doesn't make you smart. Belonging to any group doesn't make you smart. Being able to think for yourself makes you smart.
Dali, it may sound very closeminded, but EVERYTHING the Bible says is true. I may not have proof, but that's because of God's will. Quoting Phong Chang BTW: This religious/scientific argument needs to stay between me and you. All of the others have made us Christians look close minded. I'm one of the most open minded guys you'll ever know. The one guy who did tend to beat you on some points was Brickdoctor. You did beat him sometimes too. Like how he said that you're not a real Christian if you believe some other things. To be Christian, you need to believe in God and Jesus. I still believe traditional Christianity, but I can see how one may believe that God created the Big Bangs. In that sense, he still created the universe. Brickdoctor would be calling many good Christians, non Christians. However, when you said God is the universe, I'm halfway considerate, but I'm halfway skeptical. God is something bigger than the universe itself. What he can do is literally impossible for us to do, or even comprehend. God does work in mysterious ways. Also, we are supposed to believe in God out of faith, not fact. Consider this: What if God just gave spot on evidence of his existance? That would just tarnish our actual faith. He wants to test if we will really believe in him without evidence. It's so easy to not believe in God, but why not take the harder road for once. Sometimes taking the harder path is much more beneficial. Regardless of what doubts your Pastor gave you, try to believe on your own. Just because 1 man made a mistake, doesn't mean what he was preaching was wrong. Don't throw Christianity out just because of him. It's so easy to agree with what science says just because it's easier for us to comprehend. That often leads people to being un-Christian. However, just because something seems to make more sense to us doesn't mean the other side is wrong. Try to believe in Christianity even if it's harder to comprehend, because life isn't about simply living how you want to; it's a test of faith created by God.
Well I never claimed to be a Christian, so he didn't beat me on any point. Everyone in the group was trying to bring politics into the discussion. I believe in God, but I don't think He's some cosmic entity, I think He is the universe. I can identify with life being a test of faith. However, I don't think the existence of God can or will ever be proven, it is just something you have to have faith in.

BTW: This religious/scientific argument needs to stay between me and you. Quoting Phong Chang [words words words]
  April 9, 2009
<<<<<Quoting Dali: FYI Phong, I used to be a Church-goer of my own free will :P But I could not bring myself to believe my pastor. In one of his sermons he stated his difficulties and struggle with being a sinner and a shepherd. By the way, in our little debate I never said I don't believe in God and that there is no possibility that God exists. I am actually more of a Pantheist. What have I said that can be disproven? Give me an example and a debunking. Don't get all conceited and think you're somehow more right than me. I don't think my opinion is worth any more the next person. My credibility however, is. :)
> That's ironic, I was just telling the others to quit looking down on you. I never did myself though. Anyway, maybe your Pastor didn't preach how God intended him to. Many Churches become corrupt due to judgmental people and people who have misinterpreted God's word. Sure your Pastor may have sinned, but everyone does. Did you not believe him because you felt a Pastor can't sin? You may have misjudged him if he actually DID preach right, but if not perhaps that's where the root of your doubt lies. Also, I already did disprove your "cylindrical universe caused by Big Bangs thing." Remember how you said all of the big bangs were caused by past and future ones in an endless cycle? Well, there has to be a beginning to that. The bangs couldn't just appear. First of all, there would have had already been a place for them to occur. If there's nothing there, how could the bangs be formed out of nothing. There would have had to be a universe that was already there for the bang to go off. For any event, there needs to be a place for it to occur. If a bang from the future created a bang in the past and vice versa, then that means there was already an existing place to host either one of the bangs. There had to already have been an existing universe to host either of the bangs. That means that the big bangs never created the universe; something/someone must've created the bangs.(if they even existed) If the Big Bangs did happen that way, then it was God who caused it. It also wasn't Bangs caused by parallel universes, cause then you'd also have to explain how the multiverse was created. Scientists haven't really even touched on that. If the multiverse was created in the same principal, then God would've been the cause of that cycle. Without God, the uni/multiverse's would go on and on with no end. That means, that w/o God the theory itself was corrupt from the beginning. God is omnipotent, so he was just there. So you see, even if the theory was true, it would still be traced to one simple fact: God IS real. PS: My friend at school is trying to argue with me about impossibilities. Just because I act st-pid in school to joke he believes I have no support in my theory. He thinks that just because I believe in the quote "Go beyond impossible," that I just simply believe that with no support. He doubts that I'm actually as smart as I really am, and he thinks I can't prove him wrong when he says "there are impossibilities." I know for a fact that I can PWN the brick out of him in the argument, but just because he underestimates me, he'll assume that what I say will be senseless ballble, and that I won't prove him wrong, so he just automatically declared himself the winner without even hearing my side. Just because I'm not in an advanced class, doesn't mean I'm not smart. It just means I'm not trying my very best. Do you agree with this kid when he says that I'm not that smart? Do you doubt that I'd be able to counter the living cr-p out of the guy? I know for a fact that I'll win, but he just ignores what I say.

Maybe, although it sounded different from that. An original design would be great, but how would everyone be on the same page with it? Maybe define a style and color scheme, and then give each person a part separately to construct as they see fit? I think working from at least a unified concept would be great, but who would create it? Maybe a group brainstorm, with Phong, myself, or us both creating sketches based on it? These are just the first things that come to mind, I have an anime series to finish! (I said maybe as the opening to a sentence like seven times here, eek)

Quoting Toby Heinemann Shipping!? Bah, humbug! What should this do to stop us? The REAL problem would be deciding who puts together and photographs the epic combination of talent. Shipping isn't that pricey unless international people get involved (you, Phong and I all live in West Coast US, so it'd only take a day or two by ground). Also, deciding who gets what part to build could be tough, as well as coordinating everyone on the same idea-- either a mech from a concept sketch that everyone has seen, or based off one pre-existing could work. I'd LOVE to work on something like this, though...

<<<<<Replying to this comment: I believe in a cyclical universe, in which at some point in the future, the universe implodes and explodes again in another big bang. I think the universe is a massive heartbeat. But what I think is irrelevant. I never made any point that science was always right, all of modern science is the culmination of empirical knowledge which we were able to gather using modern technology. The fact that we don't fully understand quantum physics yet is just a matter of time.
> That's where you're prefered theory makes no sense without God. Maybe you're theory is halfway correct, but only in this case, God created that contiuous cycle, so no matter what, the roots will lead to God. Do you really think everything is as it seems? Dude, ther's been proof of the supernatural such as ghosts. As a matter of fact, my sister took pictures at a haunted hotel, and when they got back, the camera showed absolutley clear images of ghostly blue human figures! Not everthing in life is scientific. Sometimes the fabrics of fundamental reality are broken by the supernatural. Perhaps there's a balance in between. go on

Just because science exists, doesn't mean God doesn't and vice versa. In fact, science itself was created by God. Oh the irony! To think, we humans are trying to disprove the existance of God through the concept of science given to us by God! LOL! Also, the Bible states that the Devil alters reality a bit and uses science as a way to drain us of our faith. He'll give us a solution that wil seem to make sense, but in the end, it'll turn out to be hardcore deception. Dude, I love studying the concepts of quantum physics and advanced sciences, but I'm also Christian. What do you have to lose to be both? What harm can faith do? I'll tell you this: Harm can come of lack of faith, so why risk it? I know that that's fears motive, but I'm just trying to be all rational to put it into more technical and logical terms so you understand. Try to be motivated by faith, but it can't hurt to balance the subject with logic. I mean, the clear win is in the direction of Christianity, so why not give it a try. You can still believe you're theory, but just remember that God created the theory and it's causes. Maybe a bunch of Big Bangs did create our universe(s), butthere has to be something to create them even though they create eachother. The answer lies in the hands of God. Also, when you get to Heaven, all of life's questions will be answered, so if you really want an accurate answer, let God answer it for you. For all you know, the continuous Big Bang theory can just be a hardcore deception created by the devil.

Newton, famous for his studies in physics, was proven wrong in the 20th century. All of his equations were mere estimations of the laws of nature. What modern physics is seeking now is a grand unification theory which combines electromagnetism, quantum mechanics, kinetics, etc etc. Darwin was also a Deist, yet he ruled out divine design in favor of adaptation. I could go on and on about science, and the fact is, a lot of scientists were religious (not all of them). I believe fear is a major motivation to become religious. Fear of going to hell, fear of dying, etc. Did you know that Christians are statistically more likely to resort to aggressive EOL (end-of-life) support? Dying is the ultimate test of faith, and maybe they haven't thought hard enough about their own convictions.

Keep in mind that Albert Einstein was a Deist, and he couldn't understand quantum physics. He once famously stated that "God doesn't roll dice" on the subject of quantum entanglement. It is only a matter of time until we have a better understanding of physics, since God does not "roll dice."

Are you giving Christianity a try or something? Also, you said mech animes and religion don't make sense. That may seem true to our perspective, but we haven't even gotten a spot on accurate idea of physics and what makes sense. Like I said in our group, physics hasn't been deeply enough studied to assume that it's the same everwhere as it is on Earth. We have so many places and things to study about physics in order to make an accurate conclusion on what makes sense. For all we know, planets in distant galaxies may have certain properties of physics that is opposite from ours. So here, going up&down at the same time seems impossible, but somewhere else it is possible. I also believe the same for TTGL. In fact, TTGL can become possible in our galaxy with the right technology and discovered elements. If something like religion or anime mecha makes no sense, then the universe itself doesn't either. Think: Without our omnipotent God, how would our universe be created? Go on--->
I was saying that anime mechas don't make sense because they're not very efficient. They just don't seem as well suited for combat as BattleTech mechs. They're just not as realistic or plausible. Sure they look cool, but that's not the point. I'm not going to discuss the creation of the universe with you since I think it's a moot argument. I believe in a cyclical universe, in which at some point in the future, the universe implodes and explodes again in another big bang. I think the universe is a massive heartbeat. You may say the Big Bang, bt then you'd have to ask what created that as well, and so-on. However, if you say God created everything, it makes much more sense. You see, in the Bible, it says God is the Beginning and the End.(the Alpha and the Omega) Nothing had to create God, he was just there. It seems illogical to us, but God can do ANYTHING. There has to be some beginning to everything, and with God you have a clear beginning. I mean c'mon, can a Big Bang just appear out of nowhere without something to create it? Even if the Big Bang was real, you'd still wind up tracing it's roots, and the only sensible answer would be God. You see, when you think more deeply into things, you'll find that religion makes a LOT more sense than science. There are some things science can't explain. In fact science can't even explain what it is trying to prove. They can't explain accurately the creation of our universe. However, the thing science trys to disprove(God)is actually the only way of explaining what scientists are trying to prove. Ironic isn't it? You see, we have clear evidence that our physics DON'T apply everywhere. Just look at the universe and try explaining it through what we've discovered about physics. Let's face it; science, physics, and what we consider to make sense actually don't make sense. However, Religion and Anime mechas do. Go on--->
  April 8, 2009
Just keep an open mind. We humans have become concieted to think that we can figure everything out through science and no God. Even if we use science, the complete basics of creation lead to the existance of God. However, scientists will always faiI to acknowledge that. Plus, even if you don't believe in God, what if there's a small chance that he is real? Why risk eternal life in H___ just because you became skeptical about our creator? It's an extremely irrational risk to take, because after what I've said, the odds are in the favor of God. Once again, religion tends to make more sense. Well, I'm not trying to push my religion on you, but it's something to think about and consider.

Quoting Phong Chang I agree strongly!!! I hate how most people think they've created a great mech just because they greebled the heck out of it. When you go crazy with greebles, you tend to make the mech look worse. As for sharp edges, I use them because they make the mech more appealing to me and my style. I like how Izzo uses them too, but I don't think sharp edges mean detail. It depends on how and where they're used combined with your intended appearance and design.
I try to avoid making unnecessary details. by the way, I saw your comment on Sean Kenney's DSI, and I think izzo just prefers his blog/brickshelf over MOCpages. He probably can't understand English very well so that's why he sticks with his blog (did you know Japanese is the most blogged language in the world?). I read in an interview with a LEGO employee that what he does with TLG and in his MOCs is VERY different. TLG's target audience, 5-13 year old kids, has a short attention span, small and weak hands, and sometimes poor spatial intelligence (i.e. can't follow instructions). On top of that, TLG has to minimize piece count to keep prices per set down. In other words, no matter how awesome it would be to buy Venus Gospel as a set, TLG would not do it :(

thanks :)
Quoting Awesome-o-saurus The Not-So-Great Who you calling an infidel? I ain't no infidel, I have skillz. Not on your level, but skillz none the less. And nice to meet another skeptic of organized religion, if you truly are one...
the reason I don't like most Star Wars / Halo MOCs is that many times just the fact that it is a Star Wars creation makes it more popular even if it's not a good build. which is why I said "most," because there are good Halo / Star Wars builders out there, just not most of them.

Quoting Mike 3579 I would really like to get into mech building, but I don't really know how to begin. Could you post instructions for at least the torso? It would be greatly appreciated. Great build BTW. :)
read what I wrote about mech building: http://www.mocpages.com/group_conversation.php?id=489&topicid=5179#comment-43299 also take a good look at the picture of the pile of pieces after I took it apart. I don't want anyone copying my torso design because it's so bad anyways.

I agree strongly!!!

I believe detail isn't just packing in the most greebles and sharp angles into a small area. What matters more is that the shapes work together and create a coherent design.

Quoting Phong Chang I like your mecha though. You're also a TTGL fan, so you must have the same fighting spirit as I do, meaning we WILL both improve endlessly due to our determination. I'm determined to be the best mecha builder, and I know for a fact that I can be. The same goes for you. You're already inspiring me almost like how Izzo and Moko do. My new mech is based off of one of Moko's cool mechs, your Venus Gospel, Izzo's Hero mech,(mostly) and Izzo's General 33degree slope mecha. I need more tiles and clips though.
Thanks, I try :) but I don't think I can beat izzo or moko at mecha building. One thing that I do very different from izzo is I build a solid torso without a frame underneath... it's quite basic and I think torso construction is one of my weaknesses. If I posted a basic frame, the torso would just be one huge chunk. One of my strengths I think is hiding joints. I really try to make the joints as unnoticeable as possible. One thing that I think you need to work on is hiding the T piece around the knee area and making the lower legs a little shorter. ^ just some honest critique.

Quoting Phong Chang Since this equals/surpasses(depends on favorite style) my Bayonet, I need to either edit my Bayonet or finish my new mecha at the risk of taking some parts off of my Ruiz or Bayonet. My new mecha is gonna be epic!!! I created a fully articulated frame!!! The thing you have against me is your ability to build weapons as good as Izzo and mechas as good as me. Your mecha talent equals mine, but your weapons surpass mine; therefore you're an overall better builder than me. Before I reach Izzo, I need to get as good/better than you.
I was really going for an organic, curvy, flowing shape. I was heavily influenced by the Mass Production EVAs from the anime Evangelion while building this. One thing I tried to do differently was to reduce the amount of greebles on this mech and I was aiming for good green/tan/white/black/grey color coordination. Yours and izzo's mecha have more sharp angles than mine do (except for my Vanguard). I don't think I build weapons well... I spent 10 minutes building the gun for Venus Gospel and I was too lazy to build a better one. By the way, my focus isn't entirely mecha. I have a few things that aren't mecha which I never posted, but I might get to posting them.

BTW: You said I have a lot of red pieces for making my ALX-97 Ruiz mecha... Well, I actually don't have that much. I used EVERY LAST useful red piece I had. In other words, I used EVERY SINGLE red tile, red 1x1 slope piece, and red clip piece variation that I had!

Quoting Matt S. Great build! The color sceme is great (dont't like those tan tiles on the feet though), that rifle is awesome and the effects are pretty cool but the cross on the sheild is sota meh. I think the chest could use a little something (the green cheese pieces are cool but not quite right). So overall flippin' sweet but could still use a few touches. Sorry to hear your not a Christian.
I changed it a bit since I posted it. There's no more tan on the feet, the chest has been bulked up a little, and the cross on the shield isn't raised. I might take photos later.

Quoting Toby Heinemann Absolutely Fantabulously Wondrously Awesome! Incredibly streamlined, well-color-coordinated, dynamic, and atheist to boot! As some have said, the rifle is excellent, the guitar simply awesome, and the poseability remarkable. All things considered, a purely amazing build!
Haha, thank you. A lot of people have praised the rifle but I really spent 10 minutes building it. I was going to use that one as a backup but I got too lazy to build a better one.
Quoting Areetsa C An amazing build, but I'm not sure about the raised cross on the shield; it looks a bit odd. The muzzle flash and falling cartridge effect is nice, but I think the fact that it can stand at all while doing that is more impressive.
I debated whether or not to add a shield to it at all. The fact that it can stand in those poses is because of the wonderful technic T piece :)

Quoting Knoll grey its about time someone stuck it to the starwars and halo builders! there really isn't anything un-bada55 about this. the rear thrusters look vaguely gundam-ish, and the legs look izzo( or as i am going to now call it phong-stlye). great work!
Actually, the thigh and feet are my own design, but I got inspiration for the frame inside the lower leg from Moko. I tried to make the rear jets look like angel wings. Originally I tried to actually make angel wings with jets but that didn't work.

I agree with Phong. I'm an Avid Christian, and saying that it doesn't make any sence just bugs me a bit. But I'm not here to comment on your opinions, but to comment on your building. Quoting Phong Chang I don't think you should mess with religion, but this mech is EPI! Well done! I LOLed at the guitar! PS: Did you know that MOCpages reduces our pic quality? I just compared the same 2 pics of an Izzo mech on Brickshelf and MOCpages, and discovered that the image was better at Brickshelf. No matter, at least you can comment here. Anyway, I knew it! The surprise was a super awesome gun!!!!! Just the way you did the effects was epic too! Well done!
The muzzle flash technique I borrowed from Sugegasa. The empty shells coming out is my idea. and the surprise was the guitar and amplifier (duh). I know the pic quality gets reduced, but I don't care that much, it's the MOC quality that matters.
