A Brief Introduction to the iLOST

Hello! Welcome to the iLOST. I, Jonathan Specter, am here to give you a brief introduction to the iLOST and what it is, as well as a brief history of its creators, the Traders.

iLOST stands for: intergalactic Library Operations Service Technology. Despite what its name may suggest, the Traders have no affiliation to the long-gone Apple Inc., other than the fact that when the iLOST first came out Apple attempted to sue the Traders, but lost horribly, and was sold out to the Traders to prevent bankruptcy. The iLOST, as the name may suggest, is essentially a library containing all the information on all the subjects in the galaxy, to provide the various peoples of the galaxy a more complete understanding of their universe and how it works. This is, of course, why we refer to it as "the people's guide to the galaxy." In the picture above, I am holding one of the more recent prototypes of our latest edition of the iLOST.

I myself am the Head Researcher for the Library. I and the many others I work with travel the galaxy collecting information to make sure the Library is complete as possible, to insure the peoples of the galaxy can also have as complete a knowledge as is possible.

Now that you know what the iLOST is, I would like to give you a brief history of the Traders so that you can better understand just how this started out.

A Brief History of the Traders

The Traders are simply that - a large organization of traders, merchants, and their affiliates. Through their constant research and production of various goods, we aim to establish a network of trade that will be beneficial to all.

The Traders came into existence around two centuries after man's first true journey into the unknowns of space, and the establishment of the first extraterrestrial colony on Alpha Centauri III in 2120 A.D. The extremely rapid development of technology at this time allowed the Trader organization to carve a foothold amongst the rising factions and parties of humanity, as well as other aliens. Several interstellar wars around the turn of the 24th century left many factions and civilizations near collapse, and in terrible condition. The Traders took advantage of this and offered help through trade, allowing these factions to once again flourish. However, the skillful work of the Traders had made it so that these peoples were entirely dependent on the Traders for their continued prosperity, and therefore the Traders were essentially in control of this small but powerful portion of the galaxy. By the 25th century, these factions were considered independent only on paper. The Traders were unified by the Master Traders that oversaw trade and had complete authority over their respective sectors. Originally there were six Master Traders, as represented by the six stars on the Trader flag above.

Thrin Methakol, pictured above, is one of the modern 12 Master Traders of the 26th century, who each have control of 2-3 sectors. As the Trader influence continues to expand, more Master Traders are added.

To give a reference point for the level of technology in the Trader organization, I will present you with an example of one of our starships, such as the one above.

This is the Tranquil Guardian, Thrin Methakol's personal flagship. It is several decades old, but still serves well and is in active duty.

The weapon systems are slightly older than other more current ones. Pictured is the main weapon of the Guardian, an electromagnetic-acceleration cannon. Nuclear weapons are commonly implemented, as well as energy shields and other forms of shielding. The Guardian uses an older design of electromagnetic shielding, as well as a more recently installed form of a new shielding being developed by Trader research facilities. This Quantum Distortion Field is extremely expensive, but as the name implies distorts the Multiverse around the ship to send projectiles harmlessly into other universes.

Advanced understanding of Quantum Physics and the Multiverse in general has led to some of the fastest, most reliable hyperspace engines in the galaxy. The Guardian has one of the most recent designs implemented by the Traders, and is at least twice as fast as most other non-Trader designs. Its subspace engines are powered by fusion generators, although it also has an advanced ramscoop drive as well.

Pictured is the front of the ship, and the bridge. Quantum computers are commonly used among Trader technology, and the Guardian uses several to help operate the ship. The main quantum artificial intelligence of the ship is housed in the bridge, with the actual power source located deep in the ship's interior.

Thank you for reading. The Trader Research Division hopes you now have a much better understanding of the iLOST, how it works, and the history of the Traders.

Fourth Wall Commentary

Thanks for checking this out! This is my new project, where I'm going to add entries to the iLOST and essentially create my own universe. If anyone wants to start a war with the Traders (Like the C.O.P. vs. U.N.E.) be my guest! I'll get to blow up some other people's MOCs! Now, I won't have fourth wall commentary like this very often, because I want to keep the "feel" of the iLOST going and make it seem as real as possible. I don't know all too much about physics or anything like that, but I think I have a general idea, so if I get some things technology-wise wrong please tell me. The main reason I haven't posted anything in a while is because I just couldn't think of a good name for my project for several months. And then, of course, one weekend, I got on the phone with my friend and we came up with "iLOST" in about five minutes.

Life is unfair, sure, but don't you think it goes a little overboard some of the time?
