My second MOC, I welcome your input! I figured I'd try a land vehicle.

About this creation

This MOC was inspired by the SLC Hover Tank contest. I was inspired to build a tank based around a cannon design after I purchased the Bionicle Axalara T9 set on clearance at a local store. I loved some of the parts and thought they would make a great cannon. I also had the 4 black dome plates I was originally going to use in a freighter design, but thought they would make for a great turret.

The turret rotates 360 degrees and the main cannon can be moved up and down about 30 degrees. The missile pod has a 90 degree up and down field of fire. Access is available through the upper opening canopy and the bi folding rear hatch / access ramp.

Some history for the "Goliath":

The Goliath Heavy Hover Tank was a late Galactic Republic design from Rothana Heavy Engineering which was a follow on to their very successful Sabre-class Assault Hover Tank. The purpose of the Goliath was as a heavy anti-tank and anti-vehicle system to be used to supplement Sabre platoons. The base design influence of the Sabre can be seen in the Goliath with its twin repulsorlift systems at the bottom of the vehicle, its edgy, sloped armor and the twin communications antenna on the top of the tank.

Side view, turret turned. Exhaust ports and details can be seen on top of the repulsor lift pods.

A nasty surprise for an unwitting opponent. The rear access hatch folds down to reveal a bi-folding access ramp and rear cargo/troop area.

Darth... The structural integrity is surprisingly rigid, though, I tend to overbuild to make it "playable" for my son. I did have to use three technics crossmembers, along with some additional support to keep the two side pods rigid. The only real issue is the rotating turret, which is quite heavy and rigid, can tend to separate from the undercarriage if you play with it to hard. It really has to be carried from the bottom. Not a lot I could do with the parts I had on hand, but that is the only real issue and its super simple to reconnect if it does become separated. LOL, hey it adds to the play experience when my son wants to "blow it up" without destroying it. :D
