[If you happened to stop by please take a moment to rate and comment, I will return the favor, thank you!] ---- Welcome to Brickchester! Err.. what currently is Brickchester at the present time. There is still much work to be done, but I thought you all might enjoy an update featuring the roads and sidewalks I have been working on. YES the roads are studded, I could have done tiled roads but I like the studded look better, the roads seem too clean and shiny with tiles, plus I don't mind the studs showing, it's not like I'm trying to hide that my creation is made from legos. Anyways, you will see every building I've made so far, all the roads and sidewalks I've built so far, and all the small little details I've added so far (remember it's only about 55% done!). I hope you all enjoy, and if you do please remember to rate it and leave a comment! I really appreciate this and always return the favor by commenting back!
About this creation

Two shots of the entire road and sidewalk modular layout. It is made so that buildings built on any number of 16 x 16 baseplates can be placed anywhere around the layout. Also the studs on the yellow bricks and the small holes on the back of the baseplate actually match up perfectly and make a very light interlocking connection. In the back is my entire set of buildings I have made so far. I added a few street and sidewalk details such as a streetlight mailbox, atm machine, garbage cans, drains, fire hydrants and even some sidewalk damage being repaired by some construction workers. These are only a few of the details so far, I plan to add plenty more (trees, parking meters, parking LOTS, maybe a small park, tons more minifigs [I have hundreds, just need to sort em' out], and tons of other stuff) before it will be full enough and have that complete look to it.

Second shot.

Shot from the right.

Shot from the left.

Shot from the corner of the avenue.

Shot of just the right block, I forgot to take one of just the left.

Aerial shot of the left.

Aerial shot of the right.

Shot of the corner, now populated with buildings. NOTE: The buildings are not in their permanent spot, I just placed them together for these pictures to show you guys what the layout looks like with some buildings in it.

You can see each building is built to the 16 x 16 lot standard I've created for the town.

Another angle of the front.

And pretty much the same angle again.

--------------------------------

Below are various closeups of the city, I added a few minifigs as well (I've yet to sort through the hundreds I have and pick out all the ones for the city), also I apologize for the LEGO cars, I've only made one car so far (the black luxury-ish car in the middle of the shot) but will be making 20 different cars for the city (I will probably do this last). Anyways, hope you enjoy what is Brickchester so far, check back often for updates as I post them quite often! And if I haven't asked you yet, please leave a comment, thanks!

very nice creation here, lookin like something architects would present for a city square and its new construction- i like the mcdonalds there, and the fire escapes add a nice touch to the apartment buildings so much to take in!

Cool, Nick! This is a very nice layout so far! I appreciate SNOT as much as when builders like you actually use studs and say "Iīm not trying to hide that itīs Lego" - thatīs a very good statement there! As I tend to build more and more studless stuff, Iīm not afraid to show some studs, either! Sometimes, they actually serve perfectly to underline the contours of a creation, or to highlight other (studless) areas. Itīs nice, too, to see somebody using something different than the street plates made by Lego. Furthermore, you used a lot of simple, but very effective building techniques on the buildings of your town. It shows that one doesnīt need to be rich or own a million pieces to set up a nice layout. And did I see a McDonald`s there? :) I wouldnīt eat there in real life, but love its iconic style when "transfered" into a Lego town. Very nice, altogether. Now if Iīd be you, Iīd try to light up the town with 12V or 9V Lego lights! :) Best regards, Steffen

Quoting Cheif Commander Calum Morton I like your city. it is super cool man, it is huge!! Love the buildings, not sure what the yellow bricks in the parks are though??
Those aren't parks, there actually a support system. If you see in the first pictures all the buildings are removed from the city and put behind it leaving just the roads and the green areas where the buildings used to be. This reveals the yellow bricks which are supports. They hold up each individual building to the sidewalks height. They are spaced at 14 studs apart to accommodate the buildings in the city which are built on 16x16 (or 16x32 and 32x32 baseplates.

Lookin' pretty cool Nick. I like the studs on the streets and sidewalk. I try to mix up studs and snot together when I can. The nice thing about studs visible is you can use the rounded plates to make the sidwalk corner rounded. I did that in my I'm Batman moc and thought it looked cool. It's probably just me. You need some orange pylons for those sidwalk fixin' guys. They are just wondering out in the street and man once you get some cars, those guy could be roadkill. I'll keep checking back. see ya. garth
