A Star Wars MOC inspired by the Rebel Y-Wing starfighter
About this creation
Back in spring 2005 I bought the "Star Wars" Incredible Cross-Sections" book and was inspired to build this model. I imagined what the next generation Y-Wing might look like. The engines were recycled from the Republic Interceptor MOC I made in winter 2004/05.
A rear view offering a look at the engine exhaust grid (blue) and the hyperdrive (dark gray greebles in the center fuselage). I stayed with the trans blue 1 x 2 tiles used on the Republic Interceptor's engines. The first mock up I made included long struts on the back of the engines with thrust diverters, like the original Y-Wing. However, to me it didn't improve the "modernized" look I was going for.
The canopy "slides" forward to open. After an hour of trying out different part configurations, I could not come up with a hinged opening canopy design that didn't mess with the overall design. So I fudged it.
I like inventive design. Yours is perfect from front to rear. The shape and technical features are exhilarating. You can be proud of it!
You may take a look at my Tripike-fighter, witch is a mix of fighters including the y-wing
( spec. as escort-fighter).
Its good and everything but PLEASE READ THIS SOMEONE!!! YOU KNOW HOW YOU HAVE TO GET A CONFORMATION EMAIL WHEN YOU START OUT ON BRICKSHELF? WELL MY AOL ACCOUNT BLOCKS ALL MY EMAILS SO I CANT GET IT. DOES THAT MEAN I CAN'T USE BRICKSHELF? SOMEBODY WRITE A REVIEW THAT ANSWERS ME!!!
I gave it a five because of the execution of the model. Although I do have some reservations about the engines, they seem a little out of proportion with the rest of the ship. Neveretheless another fine creation.
