The History of the Peacekeepers Part I- The Division of the Mandalorians The Mandalorians used to be nomads, often working as mercenaries. Our leaders were bore the title Mandalore. We had a total of twelve Mandalores throughout the ages. Jaster Mereel was undoubtedly the greatest Mandlore, leading us through peace and war. However, we were betrayed. Jaster’s Captain, Vizsla, defected. Disagreeing with our Supercommando Codex, the Law of the Mandalorians, he started Death Watch, a rival group. A couple hundred Mandalorians followed him and abandoned us. We, being remaining loyal Mandalorians took on the title True Mandalorians. Part II- Jango Vizsla attempted to hunt down all the True Mandalorians, and personally murder Jaster Mereel. Due to this, Jaster was given three personal bodyguards, named Montross, Ordo, and A’den. However, the Death Watch had grown numerous and attempted to raid us on the planet Mandalore, in the city of Bone. Fortunately, a nearby family of farmers took us into their barn and hid us. They were the Fett’s. Unfortunately, Death Watch found out where we were hiding and stormed us. Only Ordo, Montross, Jaster Mereel, and the boy Jango Fett survived. Jaster decided to raise Jango as his son. This aroused the jealousy of Montross, who was going to replace Jaster as Mandalore after his death but now felt Jango was stealing his position. Part III- Betrayal on Korda 6 During the Battle of Korda 6 during the Mandalorian Civil War, Montross disobeyed Jaster’s orders and went to fight a Death Watch squad head-on. Jaster realized it was a hopeless battle, as did we all, and ordered a retreat. We were held up by Montross, who was still insisting Mandalorians never vacated a fight. Irritated but determined, Jaster took advantage of Montross?move and had Jango reach the target while he distracted Death Watch. However, it was a setup created by Death Watch. Vizsla himself showed up on the battlefield to kill Jaster. And in this moment, Montross made the decision that changed his fate forever. He betrayed Jaster and left him to die. Jaster was shot no less than 17 times by a tank. Montross attempted to take the position Mandalore, but Jango brought back Jaster’s body and the True Mandalorians banished Montross. Part IV- Mereel’s Legacy After Jaster died, Jango be came the Mandalore. In honor of Jaster, Jango handpicked three Mandalorians to assist him in eliminating Death Watch. Jango and his three men became known as the Peacekeepers, dedicated to purge Death Watch from the galaxy. In honor of Jaster, they bore an emblem upon their left shoulders, circled by a ring of fire to show that will always be with them. They received the nickname “Mereel’s Legacy?for this.
