Thanks for stopping by. I welcome critiques and advice, and hope that you like what I build.
I collect primarily two groups of LEGO, Space and Castle. My current preference is for Blacktron I and Crown Knight minifigs, intended for use in a sci-fi and a fantasy empire respectively. I originally tried to work with the Blacktron name and color scheme (for Space, that is), but have since abandoned it in favor of a more original setting (not least because of a need to be able to incorporate gray into my builds).
I have smaller collections of Space Police III Commandos and old SW Imperial Scout Troopers that I plan on using as mercenaries (Graywater Security and Permanent Solutions, LTD respectively).
I'm going to call my army the Basilikoi (translated as Imperials, or perhaps as Servants of the Emperor). It has the extra benefit of being one word, therefore making the solitary Blacktron B the only letter needed, which symbol a longer acronym might not fit as well.
I will use that same name for my Crownies, establishing them as the medieval precursor to the far-future Space empire.
So, enjoy my MOCs, and keep building!
To supplement my basic troops, officers, and crewmen, I've adapted the Cyborg Space Villain into an elite Guard type unit (though with old-style helmets), and am using the new helmets with solid black breastplates as heavy troops. I've also adapted some of the early Endor Luke Skywalker minifigs into scout/sniper teams, and have started assembling a special forces team from Lego Studios stuntmen with the Life on Mars gray balaclava heads with the new black beret hats. All in all, the look remains cohesive and intimidating, while the armies capabilities are constantly expanding.
I'm supplementing my Fantasy-era troops with the new Kingdoms figures, using the new color patterns as different regiments in the army. Fantasy blue is the main army, the Stratiotes (soldiers), green are the Drakoi (dragons), and red are the Leontes (lions). I am thinking I may add bannermen to each unit carrying a green mini dragon on a stick - these would be the Draconarii (dragon-bearers). I'll have to decide what to do with the heavier-armored troops and the cavalry; do I keep them all in the same divisions, or do I split them off into their own units?
