Wussup, Earthlings? Welcome to Ben's HQ! I build all sorts of stuff here(check out my UAF Models!). I also make building instructions for my newer MOCS! Look here and here for some of my instructions. I also make custom decals for my minifigs, but you might say that my technique is... different from most anyone else. What I do is: Take some sandpaper, Ultra Fine tip Sharpies, clear acrylic spray, and of course, your minifig. Take the area you wish to put new decals on (i.e. the torso) and sand it. Draw on the sanded area, and spray your decal with a light coat of the spray. Viola, a new decal! Note: this does not work on black pieces.
And my microfig method:
REQUIRED-- Four 1x1 plates of the color you want the body to be, and one 1x1 round brick, of the color of the head.
STEP 1-- stack two 1x1 plates. these will be the legs. Sand/file about one mm in, down to halfway down the bottom plate.
STEP 2: stack two more plates, and sand them into a pyramid. Leave the stud untouched.
STEP 3: Here's the tricky part. Take the 1x1 round brick and cut away the bottom of it until it is the height of two plates. Then file the edges until the head is more round.
STEP 4: Glue everything together (I left the head unglued so that they could turn their heads) and draw/paint/sticker decals onto them.
