Hello!
my name is stephen, and i build LegoŽ pirate ships. i have always loved the pirate branch, but never got into it as a kid, as i was too into space. well, now i have sold all my old space stuff, and build almost exclusively sailing ships.
i specialize in men of war from the late 1700's to the early 1800's. i usually claim my ships as being British, but it really doesnt matter.
my goal, as an AFOL, specifically pirates, is: to represent men of war from the aforementioned period of naval history as accurately as possible by using LegoŽ ship hulls. i have nothing against hulls made from bricks, but i prefer the challenge of operating within the constraints of the prefab ship hulls. of course, this puts a number of limits on the level of detail i can attain, but again, i love the challenge of it.
my ships are works in progress, i am happy with one for a while, then i have to rebuild it. only on my more recent ones am i finally reaching a level of detail that i wanted to achieve, but i still have a ways to go, so problems are being addressed as i build more ships.
a bit about myself:
at the time of this page's conception, i am 20 years old. i live in Clovis, CA, and attend Fresno State University with a major in Health Science and a minor in Japanese. i am a supervisor at Starbucks, and work almost full time there, so between work and school, i dont have nearly enough time to build my ships, but that's life. my other hobby is antique Japanese swords, or Nihonto. i have always been fascinated by Japanese culture, and have been a sword buff, and the two interests melded into a major interest in Nihonto. ummm, i guess that's about it!
please enjoy my ships, and if you have any questions at all, even just to talk pirate stuff, my Inbox is always open!
