No it isn't. They first wanted to release it in summer, but then they decided to choose December 12th again, because they thought that would make more sense.

Yeah the music is a very big factor in what emotions people express during movies. The closest I've come to crying during a movie was the end of The Return of the King.

Yes, there were many great scenes at the very end, for instance when the big crowd and the king prostrate before the hobbits, or when Gandalf, Bilbo and Frodo leave the Grey Havens or when Sauron is defeated.

He'll die. I'm even going to bet that Beorn dies. Because it's a prequel you pretty much have to kill off everyone that doesn't appear in the sequel.

I know a lot of people dislike the first Hobbit movie, but I found if very good! It was very similar to the LotR (In changes/additions), had great music and felt like LotR (If you get what I mean).

The DoS was awesome, but a lot of changes. As a movie, it was one of the best I've seen and thoroughly engaging. The only bad part was that Kili/Tauriel thing in Laketown. As compared to the book, it was quite different. I think the EE will make it feel more like the book, but it is still quite different. What I couldn't stand from the book's perspective was the barrel chase scene, the splitting of the dwarves and the elf scenes in Laketown. The Smaug battle was a little far-fetched as well. I didn't mind the addition of a fight with Smaug (when I first read The Hobbit, I couldn't believe that they didn't even try to kill him) but they could have done it outside the mountain. That would have been very similar to the book.

All in all, I really enjoy all the films and if I want the "pure" form, I'll read the books again. December 18 can't come fast enough.

Well, I'm glad I finally got that off my chest. Thanks for reading my blabbing. ;)

I thought the first one was better than DOS because it was closer to the book. I didn't like the Dwarves fighting Smaug in Erebor but I enjoyed the action-packed barrel escape scene. I really didn't like the Orcs in Laketown.

Basically, I disliked almost everything after the Master agrees to help the Dwarves...

Well he did kill Haldir off and he wasn't supposed to die so I don't know. Judging from the LEGO sets it looks like Beorn will be going to Dol Guldur. Two characters, both going to places they weren't supposed to...I don't know. I REALLY hope they don't kill him off and I don't think they will but I wouldn't assume he's completely 'safe' either. :/

Yeah, I agree that Tauriel will die (probably saving Kili or vice-versa) but like Evan said, Haldir was killed off. I'm thinking that both Radagast and Beorn will get axed in the end. Either way, we'll see who's right on December 18! ;)

The Barrel Chase scene was fantastic! I really enjoyed it. But from a book perspective, Bilbo "sneaked" the dwarves out and there was no battle. Also, it was quite unrealistic. ;) But yes, it was a lot of fun!

Peter Jackson Finally said something about the hobbit trailer!!!

Many of you asked about the Hobbit Trailer.

So, yes — there will be a Hobbit Trailer. But like the previous two years, it’s not going to be released until around Oct. The complex VFX work required to produce the battle shots we’re all wanting to see are simply not far enough along yet.

However… yesterday I finished work on a Teaser Trailer and that has just been delivered to Warner Bros. So no doubt this Teaser Trailer will be making it’s way into the world sometime soon…

Oh, I'm not so sure that they are all that bad. After all, when you compare any new movie to the Lotr trilogy it seems fairly average. I think the Hobbit movies have a great cast, and really good acting. It does seem like they messed with the story line a bit much but the Lotr isn't really that close to the books either. (Personally I did like the Unexpected Journey better than the DOS.)

True, But the Lotr has similar stark unfeasible feats from Legolas, ie: Killing the Oliphaunt, skateboarding on a shield, mounting that horse, and so on. I did find the barrel scene in DOS to be a bit too comic though.

In LotR, they weren't as frequent, and I felt that killing the oliphaunt like that was a good way to partially end a battle that us viewers have been waiting for for a long time. The horse mounting I have no excuse for it. It's just cool.

That is true also. It does seem like the outrageous stunts are more frequent. However, I do think the hobbit movies are more exciting at times because we don't have to watch Sam and Frodo trudging though Gondor and Mordor.

I'm so exited! But I am waiting to watch the extended scenes until I buy the extended DVD.

Same here!

TORN posted a scene-by-scene breakdown of the EE: http://www.theonering.net/torwp/2014/10/21/93175-the-hobbit-the-desolation-of-smaug-extended-edition-scene-guide/

I didn't read the whole scenes, but I did go over the ones that were added.

It appears that the "Never venture East" clip and the feasts in Laketown and Mirkwood didn't make it in.

Also, the longer version of the dwarves introduction to Thranduil didn't make it either. You can watch it unedited here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4BbOnteBj6Y

Too bad, but still lots of other good ones by the sound of it.

And Air New Zealands's latest and greatest: http://www.theonering.net/torwp/2014/10/22/93259-air-new-zealand-unveils-the-most-epic-safety-video-ever-made/

Just love those guys!

So much waiting!! November and December are gonna be great!

EDIT: And a confirmation of Beron in the battle: http://insidemovies.ew.com/2014/10/23/peter-jackson-hobbit-the-battle-of-the-five-armies/

I'm glad they kept him in. Now I just hope he kills Smaug off before the battle!

I don't want this movie to come, because then they'll all be OVER! Not to mention what happens at the end of the Battle of the Five Armies. *sob* Still, I am excited!

I feel you man.

Did you hear the WB is not flying the Kiwi actors to London for the premier?

That's pretty cheap. I hope they change their mind.

Also, it looks like we'll be getting a trailer next week! Maybe it will come out with the EE? Fingers crossed!

It's kinda sad that this will be it for ME movies for now.

I think it's ok, because it'll leave more tales left for our own imagination, such as the appendixes, the Silmarillion or Unfinished Tales.

Did you guys hear, this time they are releasing the hobbit on the same day internationally? This means America won't have to wait 2-3 days!

Also, I GOT MY TICKETS!

So which day does it come out now? Originally, I heard that it will be released on the 10th in Europe and on the 16th in North America.

I heard that, too.

It's December 10th for Germany. In some theatres it will even be released on the 9th.

Sadly for America, I was wrong.

It comes out on the 17th here, and earlier everywhere else. Ah well, I will just have to abandon the internet that week.

Same here. I preordered the Hobbit DOS extended version and watched it the same day it arrived. It has many great new scenes in in like the story around Thrain's fate, more Beorn scenes and Bombur falling into the river in Mirkwood.

I wonder why they changed the name of the last Hobbit movie? Was it because 'There and Back again' was a spoiler and allowed people to figure out that Bilbo would make it back to the Shire. I mean Tolkien wanted to call Return of the King, the War of the Ring beacause it gave away an essential plot line.

It was because of the fact that the battle will be such a huge part of the movie, and everyone already knew bilbo would get back. ;)

Yes. And also the title "There and back again" doesn't really fit the content of the last movie, but the whole trilogy. (Because in BOTFA he doesn't really go "there" only "back again")

I agree. Sadly the release date hasn't been confirmed yet, but I really hope that they won't realease it at the end of the year like the last two EEs.
