Hey i decided to start a new one since the old one was pretty filled up. In addition, i wanted to give a shout-out to Michael and Mark and all of our moderators for doing such a good job of keeping this group exciting and active. I know i couldnt have done it alone and also know that i am currently in a sort of dark ages as i havent been very active at all. Im dealing with college stuff and it has taken up most of my time. When i created this group i hoped it would be successful but never did i dream that we would have over 900 members and over 1000 creations. Congratulations everyone for making this such a huge success. And i would like to thank each and every one of you personally for the part you played. Thanks, William. http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/335059 Add some sand to the edge of the water... Dark tan if you have any... And , I would add some more rows of pillars to hide behind if I were you... After that I'm stuck! :{ Can't wait to see it finished!

First like someone already said, add some pillars. That would look good. Also id make another breach in the wall and add a second boat. That way you could include more figs. Also definitely add the blood. Not a whole lot but enough to contrast. You could maybe add a flag to the top of the tower and include an archer or two. Finally to contrast a bit more. You could use some brown blocks to make make it look like wooden beams that may be supporting some of the ruins or making a little camp with a campfire. Its all up to you but i think whats mainly lacking is some contrast. What you already have looks wonderful.

Lol thanks! I'll probably put the rest into the bank and save. As for episode 5, I'm going away for the weekend, and when I get back, I'll be going on vacation for a few weeks. So, I most likely won't get it up until I get back. Sorry for the disappointment! Sooo, Denigod Adventures is postponed until the end of August. Again, so sorry! Yes, that's cool! They will also be adding the story about Frodo's parents, the dwarves' backgroundstory and some more stuff from the appendixes. I think 3 movies are even better than 2, because there is more time for character changes, turns of events and a detailful story. Permalink | August 6, 2012, 7:22 am |

Yesterday I went to an exhibit in a museum, and guess what was there? It was a big display of costumes from famous movies and tv shows, that were actually used in the filming, such as Indiana Jones' leather jacket and whip, and the Holy Grail, and the Ghostbusters outfit and backpack. There was a bunch of ofher stuff like Star Trek stuff, and the original Robin costume, but the best one there was...
The suit that Darth Vader wore. It was AWESOME!!!!! There was also Luke Skywalker's severed hand that was in he film, and his lightsaber! Oh, and a stormtrooper helmet and gun!! It was definitely the best event of the summer!!! Permalink | August 27, 2012, 11:57 am |

Hey, thanks for the invite. This is actually the second time I've been invited, and I really gave this some extra thought this time through. I think LOTR are THE best movies ever made, and the books are among my favorites. The problem is that at this point in my builder "career," I'm focusing on space, and I have very, very little time to build. This group looks awesome and I would like to be a part of it when I transition to fantasy builds, (which is undoubtedly in my future), but at this point, my piece collection is geared toward space builds, and I have no greenery, which needs to be present to do a castle build any justice at all. I have picked up my first LOTR set, though, The Battle at Helm's Deep, but at this point, I don't think that I could pay as much attention to this group as I would like, and would certainly be kicked out after my third space submission;) Thank you again, and I hope to be in a position to join soon. I haven't built any LOTR stuff but I plan to. I have never seen the movies, but I think I have read a couple of the books. I am a fan of J R Tolkien though.
I have actually been meaning to read the books again, so hopefully I will get some inspiration and a bricklink order of plants soon.

Unerrated? I don't think so. His newest MOc has got 56 likes! Well look at The Timinater or some of those guys, they have 100 likes on at least one of theirs! I think he's underrated, but he has no icon, which leads people to think your are not that good of a builder, and only do build once every other week or month.

I saw a special Star Wars exhibit a long time ago ago, they had a ton of the original costumes and such, so epic Permalink | August 29, 2012, 8:53 pm |

Yeah, and then we can demote you too. No, haha, why go about demoting people? If they come back, they'll be happy to see that they are at where they left out, and that's quite relieving. It would be like demoting the creator of the group, just because he's barely been active at all. Groups are places to post threads of comments and add MOCs, occasionally, so I disagree. There's a difference between that and editors, who gain privileges so that they can continue editing more easily and effectively. Moderators and administrators gain privileges because they have commented a lot, and helped out a lot. Their past contributions are not diminished. That is the difference. If they have gained these privileges, they shall remain with those privileges. That's my opinion. Peace out~ :D
I agree with you, but we can't do that. If moderators and admins are positions of honor, we would have more than 20 of them. (But therefore we have the List of Honor) And as far as I can tell from my experience, groups like that die very fast. If we didn't demote people, the whole adminship would become inactive with the time, and in that case there wouldn't be anyone to replace us. The group would become inactive and interested and active users would lose their hope of a reward (mod position). There would also be nobody to host contests, edit the group descripion, approve comments or remove rude people and non-LOTR MOCs.
Though I agree with you: We should thank them for the time and effort they spent into this group. My suggestion would be that we give a few members of this group a permanent place on the List of Honor. (Special thanks to: __Names here__, or something like that) Permalink | September 9, 2012, 1:59 pm |

As Michael said we simply cannot have a group with that many MODs and Admins. Also if they are promoted because they are very active, if they become inactive we demote them. Simple as that. Now of course William is the exception to this rule since he is the oldest member still here. Permalink | September 9, 2012, 4:00 pm |

That's true, because a handful inactive people can't do their job in this group, that means that we have to add more moderators to help them out, but then we have too many of them, as Mark said before. Understood? Permalink | September 10, 2012, 9:59 am |

I'd say Attack on Weathertop for $60.00 with five minifigs but if you're willing to pay $80.00 for the Mines of Moria it comes with six minifigs not including the two skeletons and the troll hope this helped you decide a little.
Edit:If you want a lot of minifigs you could buy Uruk-hai™ Army and Shelob™ Attacks which would leave you with nine minifigs for $50.00. Permalink | September 14, 2012, 2:28 pm |

Suggestions are always welcome. But didn't you talk to me about this in the group "Discussions/Debations"? Perhaps we should catch up that convo again.
And yes, merits are mainly based on activity. Though I can promise that 1 or 2helpful comments count more than 10 posts in games like "Finish the Story" and "Hurt and Heal".
Maybe we should add that to the group description to make that point more clear.
When we added the merit system to this group, everybody agreed about it. And since nobody really complained about it since then, I was quite sure that it is a good thing.

Thanks! I'm hoping to do it daily with him in the places we go. But maybe this is not a conversation for a LOTR group...As some of you may know, TLG is coming out with a rancor pit set. The rancor has removable fingers with clips to attach them to the rancor or attach the rancor to the fingers. Any ideas on what the fingers could be used for in a LOTR build? Yes,I'd love to catch back on that! You seemed to have gone inactive there and I didn't want to bother you.
Awww, I'm just not sure what your calculation is for how people gain merits. Is there some sort of golden policy or is it just a somewhat-calculated guess from off the top of your head?
Yes, the merit and demerit has had a positive result. I just think we need to decide on how to rearrange it, not remove it. I apologize if I got off to seem that way. I like the idea of establishing a coherent base on how to hand the merits, so that people are listed just where they need to be.
I like the merits too, because members are judged by what they do not who they are. I mean in many other groups the admins and mods are always the most popular builders or best friends of the group owner not those who would really deserve it, while in this group we want to give everyone the same chances and rights.
And yes, the criteria for the merits is a little bit unclear in some cases. Sorry about that. :(
I usually edit the merits at the end of each week. Everybody who has written comments during that time will recieve merits, unless they added only 2 or 3 1-word-posts like "cool", "true" or "thanks". Then, of course there is a difference between long and short comments, as mentioned before. Members who are always very active and write lots of comments, get merits for sure, no matter how helpful or long they are. If a member is extremely active (+ some longer comments), he/she will sometimes even get 1.5 merits (activity rewards). In a few cases even 2, but they are not as frequent. Another thing I should mention is that members get a merit for their very first comments in this group. Also there is a difference between fun topics (games) and other topics.

Quiz of Middle-Earth
are important, because they show how creative and how interested the people are in LOTR and the group 1+ merits.
Longer comments in all the other topics, advice on creations, ideas for group projects or new topics are very helpful and important, so you don't have to write many of them to recieve lots of merits.

Michael, if I may make a suggestion, I think that the "Continue the story" Should be with the Hurt and Heal, and other games, because it does not usually require almost any knowledge of Middle-Earth. Besides that, i think this merit system will work quite nicely. Permalink | September 17, 2012, 7:46 pm |

Hey everyone,
I am new to MOCpages and had a few questions on how things are run around here. For one, I've noticed that none of my creations appear on the homepage, while others' (like, say, Paul Vermeesch's) creations appear all the time (not to mention on the Explore page three days later xD). Is this because I'm new? Or because not many people look at my creations? Thanks to everyone, and thanks to the admins and mods for organizing such a great group :D

Simple. Since you are new your first creation has to be moderated to make sure you really are a LEGO® fan and not a guy trying to advertise stuff. Permalink | October 3, 2012, 6:52 pm |

It looks like they reveal 1 set each week. Amazing! The character descriptions are also very interesting. BTW, they also updated the LEGO LOTR videogame page. You can see the character descriptions of the Balrog and Mountain trolls!! Permalink | October 12, 2012, 5:08 am |

Can't wait to find out prices for the set with dark red leaves, hopefully it's relatively cheap as I'd like to pick up half a dozen... ;) The warg set with olive green leaves will also be worth picking up, nice selection of foliage there. Permalink | October 14, 2012, 10:25 am |

That would be awewesome!! The only problem is that Sauron is much bigger than normal people, so maybe they should better make non-minifig or half-minifig design. Permalink | October 14, 2012, 3:06 pm |

I hope to get all of them, but I like Barrels out of Bond, An Unexpected Gathering, and the one with the spiders the best. They all have great parts, and are worth the money. Permalink | October 14, 2012, 10:11 pm |

True. The only annoying thing is that most of the beards are in one piece so that you can't give the dwarves any helmets. Permalink | October 15, 2012, 5:49 am |

Good point. It's the same with the elvish hairpieces, but their weapons in the barrel escape set look pretty amazing. Then there's the new orcs and goblins, and when you combine that with the new colored foliage and whatnot coming out, you've got a smorgasbord of epic stuff. Another issue is Toys R Us is always the first store to carry them, and they like to jack the prices up a lot. Permalink | October 15, 2012, 5:03 pm |

Yes, I have! :) So far only series 1 and 2, 1 book of series 3 and 2 special adventures are out in German, but I really can't wait for the rest, especially Bluestar's Prophecy. (Although I'm quite sure that they will first release series 3 and 4 :( so it's a loong time to wait and I will probably just order the English version) The Firestar series is my favorite one. The only thing I don't like is that too many great cats die for my taste. Permalink | October 17, 2012, 3:13 am |
