I've only made one Brickforge order, and I have to say that they have some quality gear. I started out with purchasing some swords, a wizard staff, a violin, a centaur lower part, mushrooms, and a few other things that are just in the back of my head now. When I received them, they were smaller than I had expected, and a bit sharper too, but the quality was there. It was also nice to see that I received free parts with the order, just a shame it wasn't something awesome like another centaur. xD I plan on making more orders in the future with them, as well.

Now, I'm not too sure about Brickarms; I think their parts are far too detailed to resemble so much as to be LEGO. They just fit in their hands, and that's pretty much the only LEGO-esque part of it, to me. Perhaps I'll buy one of their machine guns... but that would be pretty much it.

Brickarms weapons are actually about as detailed as Brickforge. They're not like AMinifigCatsstore, which to me are much to over detailed. Brickarms makes some great things, like the Universal Clip, or U-Clip, which is a double-sided clip that can grip Lego accsesories. They also just made a rocket launcher called a MAAWS,(Multipurpose Anti-Armor Anti0Tank Weapon System,) that can fit these shells and also a Lego rod. Overall, I can give thema 5/5 rating, and I have a lot more Brickarms than Brickforge.

Oh yes, I really agree with you on that! Hmm... I don't believe that the dark green one has stars, but I'm certain it has a dragon print instead. That's not a pity, just not suitable for Gandalf. I'd like to see a wizard hat in dark nougat (dark flesh, i.e. colour of the new dog mould) so it can be used for Radagast the Brown... I'm thinking that would suit better than reddish brown because it would be too average looking, even though it hasn't been made in that colour yet either. Wait.. does he have a hat? I can't particularly remember now. xD

The books don't say whether he has a hat or not. In "Lord of the Rings Online" he has a weird hood instead.

I think the blue is too strong and bright for Gandalf's hat, but it's by far the best hat you can choose for him. (The Good Wizard's head from LEGO castle is great too, but the stars are annoying)

Moria seems to be a harder first step for me. I'll probably only purchase 'Gandalf's Arrival' set, and doubtfully twice, despite as much as I would wish to. I need to focus my expenses on other things, erm, even though I don't want to, but feel the need that I have to. xD So I believe I'm taking a break from purchasing LEGO this year, despite how many cool sets are coming out. (Especially LOTR! Woot!)

Has anyone else have/had to take a break/will take a break from LEGO?

I'm taking a break from buying LEGO, too (until June). The only LEGOs I will buy before that, are those from LEGO Minifigures Series 6 and 7. In June I'm going to buy at least one version of every LOTR set and also Jabba's Palace and a few Super Heroes sets.

I don't know where to find it either. I just know about it, as you two do. I believe that every so often, LEGO brings attention to their Star Wars fans a choice of three different sets to be produced, and whichever is highest voted, will, of course, be produced. In 2009, LEGO gave to the fans a decision between having a new 'Slave 1 / Bespin' set, a 'Home One Mon Calimari Star Cruiser' set, and a 'Palpatine's Arrest Set' - and for that year, the second choice won. Then in 2010, the very next year, it seems that the Slave 1 was produced as well. Now it's just 'Palpatine's Arrest' to have it's turn, I suppose.

That may be the case.

I was thinking the same thing, actually. But at this time, if a picture isn't revealed, then the set won't come out until the next season, even if the picture comes out just by the end of this week or so. Usually a picture of the set is revealed months before it's release. So I've come to the conclusion that it will be delayed. I just hope for a picture soon, because I'm wondering what that set could even look like, since only on rare occasions does LEGO produce sets based off of scenes - it's normally just a ship, or speeder, that appeared in a scene. At least it's been this way for a long time. This is an actual scene, located in a room; I guess it could include the Coruscant transportation speeder he came in on that had it's showcasing for a little under five seconds, enough for many to look back in their minds and remember it being his Jedi Fighter instead. I'm not sure what they'll do... but it's fun to speculate. And also, any guesses on the cost?

European prices are alway higher than those in the U.S, but I guess 40-75$. It is possible that they will make comparatively small playable set like the Wampa Cave which includes a small cave, Luke's Snowspeeder and the Wampa. That's why I think the speeder idea isn't bad.

Thanks for your input, Michael. And here in the US, sets have the following variable prices (for themed sets, excluding collectables):

-3.25
-4.99
-6.99
-11.99
-19.99
-24.99
-29.99
-39.99
-49.99
-59.99
-69.99
-89.99
-109.99
-anything above pretty much self-explanatory

And comparing those variable prices to your guess, in the US it'd probably be $39.99 - 59.99. -shrugs- But I'm just guessing.

You nailed the prices perfectly!

Brickapedia and eurobricks said 90 euros but then again they also said it would be released in June.

Really? I suppose you're right, now that I take a look for myself! I remember a while ago, I almost purchased the "Jabba's Message" set from there, for only under $8.99, which I thought was amazing, especially for something as old as that! But, it's really hard to figure out what condition each item can be in there, since you never know how serious they were into LEGO; so now I've come to the conclusion that Bricklink dominates in that aspect, because I know they're all serious LEGO buyers, and now, sellers.

I agree, I just got my Bricklink order (yesterday) and everything is perfect!

From what I've retrieved from their website,

"Most products at Target.com can be shipped to all 50 states, as well as APO and FPO addresses and Puerto Rico. We cannot ship internationally, nor do we ship to U.S. Protectorates, Guam or the Virgin Islands." ~ Target.com

But that's as far as I can see, unfortunately. I hope that helped you out somewhat.

Thank you, LEGO Lord! That helped me a lot. I found out that the LEGOshop itself doesn't ship internationally either, but I heard, Amazon does.

I can't wait until I can get my hands on some of the LOTR sets! I'm definitely asking for Helms Deep for my birthday, which is in October. :(
I recently bought around 7 series 7 minifigs from Chapters too! When LOTR comes out, I really want to get the Weathertop set too, but it is ridiculously overpriced! I mean, $60, for a set that small?!?! I suppose the new horses, as well as the minifigs add some weight too... I've been waiting for these sets FOREVER!!! Also, do you think that since the Harry Potter films are finished, does that mean that there'll be no more Harry Potter sets?

I remember when I was really little, and in like around 2004, for my birthday, I got the very first Harry Potter sets, like the Sorting Hat, and Diagon Alley Shops! Ahhhh, good times, good times....

Of course, if I had the money, I'd gladly by all the LOTR sets! Did you know that this is only the first wave of them? There's supposed to be more sets coming! Can't wait!!! I also noticed that TLG must have purposely separated the fellow ship into groups of 1, 2, and threes? Therfore, if you want to get the whole fellowship, you'll have to buy all of the sets! For example, Boromir and Legolas only come with the Mines of Moria, and Gandalf comes only with Gandalf Arrives. A shame really, I'd have liked to get the set! -Horace Slughorn

^ Firstly, to the admins: please remove the above comments, because they only relate to how this comment was not properly posted due to a malfunction. ^

This topic is to discuss about anything you've ever purchased related to LEGO! You can tell your set count, your set list, piece orders from online or from Pick-a-Brick walls at LEGO stores, and custom piece purchases from Brickarms, Brickforge and ect.! (Oh, and bragging-ly, too if you want. xD) Oh, and also, whatever you wish to purchase sometime, or just something you really want to buy but never will be able to - things like that. The list can go on and on, so I'm sure you get my point.

Basically, this is an excuse for just wanting to know more about my fellow LEGO hobbyists? Yes, it is.

Oh, and... don't be competitive - as well as all the other MOCpages rules follow here.

What I don't like about the new LOTR sets, is that it will cut back on custom made figs. I'm just going to buy every set with orcs, make a HUGE army, and make my own custom fellowship. I'm definetly going to get at LEAST 2 Uruk-Hai Army sets! I'm asking or Helms Deep for my B-Day in October, and I'm gonna buy Orc Forge and Mines of Moria too!

I'm with you.

I finished Moria and everything is great! All the characters all cool though I still do not like Boromir's face, the lines on Legolas' face, and Gimli's axe handle. The troll is huge though it does not balance very well. I am very dissapointed though, because I tried to put a quiver on Legolas and it doesn't fit! One of the reasons I was so exited for the Legolas hair is because it looked like it could fit over a quiver. One more thing I do not like is that the skeletons are normal ones, I wish they would have made new dwarf skeletons. All in all though it is a great set, and I would recommend it to anyone.

That would be really cool if TLG made dwarf skeletons! Too bad that Legolas doesn't have a quiver though... I think that the Gimli minifig is PERFECT! The beard and helmet are perfect for Gimli! The Cave Troll looks great too! Congrats on getting the set!

Mowing lawns is a good way to make money, but also if your church has a nursery and you are old enough you could try to get hired there. I work at my church nursery and I make a fair amount of money each month.

(I posted this earlier)

I finished Moria and everything is great! All the characters all cool though I still do not like Boromir's face, the lines on Legolas' face, and Gimli's axe handle. The troll is huge though it does not balance very well. I am very dissapointed though, because I tried to put a quiver on Legolas and it doesn't fit! One of the reasons I was so exited for the Legolas hair is because it looked like it could fit over a quiver. One more thing I do not like is that the skeletons are normal ones, I wish they would have made new dwarf skeletons. All in all though it is a great set, and I would recommend it to anyone.

I'm considering buying Attack on Weathertop so that I can have the complete Fellowship. But the set doesn't look too impressive for $60 so I was wondering if I would be better off getting the figs from Bricklink. Really I just need Merry because I plan on getting The Battle of Helms Deep eventually (which will give me Aragorn). I would appreciate any advice given.

I just got 5 of the LOTR sets yesterday! Two (Gandalf Arrives and Shelob Attacks) came in the mail, which I bought from Amazon (using a gift certificate I had). I bought Weathertop, Mines of Moria, and Helm's Deep at the new LEGO store in Kansas City at their Grand Opening. I volunteered with the Master Model Builder event they're doing (building an 8-foot Yoda!), and the volunteers got a 30% discount on any purchases in the store the same day. Basically, that means I ended up getting Mines of Moria for free! I've built all of them but Helms Deep so far; I'll probably start on it tomorrow. There are some really cool pieces and building techniques in the sets!

you should just get him from brick link.

I built Uruk-Hai Army a couple days ago, and it's a really awesome set!!! The figs are all really well made! I especially like the new helmets, swords, and shields!!!!

Congrats! The Uruk-Hai are some of the best LOTR minifig designs and the set is really good for the price.

Thats soo cool but i was there a month ago and they did not have them there.:(

David i was on your page and i saw that you like to play prisoners base what is that?
Thanks for visiting my page Jackson! :D Prisoners base is where there are two teams, as equally devided as possible. There is a field, (Preferably rectangular) and at each end there is a "base". The base is just a line all the way across the field from side to side. If you are in your base, you cannot get tagged. If you go out, and someone on the other team comes out after you, they can tag you. But if you go back in your base and come out after them, you can tag them. So, if you are after some-one you're "Fresh" and they are "Stale". If you're after some one and before another another person, you can tag the person you're after but not the one you're before. If you're tagged, you go to jail, which is at the other teams' base. You stretch out with other jailed people, until some-one on your team comes and releases you. You can only release one person at a time. If you make it past the enemies line, you are now a spy. So if someone runs out of their base, (an enemy) and you are a spy, you can come out and tag them, getting you a free walk back to your line and putting them in jail. :D Once you put someone in jail or free some-one from jail, you have to go back to your line before you can do anything else. the first team to capture the whole other team wins! Hope this helped,! God Bless ~ David.

Actually, they are all very reasonably priced. Most have under ten cents per piece, which is great, especially for licensed sets.

A good way to know if a set is overpriced is how much pieces it has based on the 100s of parts. for example a 400 piece set would be $40. 200 would be $20, and so on.

Actually, they are all very reasonably priced. Most have under ten cents per piece, which is great, especially for licensed sets.

Sometimes I even calculate price per piece excluding minifigures, as those parts will definitely push the price up. I subtract $3 ($4 for licensed sets) for each minifig from the total price, and the number of pieces for each one from the total piece count (usually 4-5 per minifig). I think that makes for a more realistic price per piece. For example, Uruk-Hai Army is listed at $29.99 and has 257 pieces. There are six minifigs (about 5 pieces each) and a new horse, which I would put at at least $2. At $4 per fig, that's $26 just for the figs and the horse. That leaves $4 for the other 225 pieces or so. That comes out to 1.7 cents per piece, which includes weapons and shields (but not armor and helmets). That's a pretty good deal, if you ask me!

They are worth buying. Of course the people there are very different. Some are normal people like you and me and some have got huge internet stores. And some are more reliable and some less reliable. The most important thing is that you have to read the description carefully, because some parts might be missing or usedf and some people are selling only the packages or pre-orders.

Quoting Monsterlego .

A good way to know if a set is overpriced is how much pieces it has based on the 100s of parts. for example a 400 piece set would be $40. 200 would be $20, and so on.

That is how I calculate price. Most of the sets seem reasonably priced but Weathertop seems overpriced, what with being 60$ for 430 pieces.

Yup, rounding it to the nearest 10 makes it worth $40

No, you can't combine different stores into one order (that would be handy, though!). Each store is run by an individual seller (I actually have one myself), and the shipping prices vary. Some sellers charge a flat rate depending on how much you spend; others (including myself) charge whatever the actual cost is to ship the package.

It's hard to explain, but here it goes. You connect one of these (http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=32013) pieces to one of these (http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=43093) pieces by putting the axle part into the axle socket. You put the connector pin side of the blue thing into the cave trolls body, and the connector piece on the trolls arm into the remaining circle socket. Hopefully you can understand all that! :) I will probably be making a creation with it if you don't understand.

Really?? That's new, but I agree with you about the hat. Another thing I don't like is the beard, because I miss the hair on the left and right side of the minifig's head. The staff is... well, not very creative. I like my own Gandalf with classic yellow skin, the grey santa beard, a sand blue hat, the indiana jones bag and the improved staff much better, I won't use the official minifig for any of my creations.

I like the Gandalf figure, except his staff, but I of course will use yellow more than flesh. My biggest problem is the Legolas' hair has the flesh ears. I will have to paint them yellow sometime.

Yes the minifig is not the best, but I would use his hat for some things that I build.

His torso is useful too, I can use it for some villagers of Middle Earth.

He was very young at that time, and even now 10 years later he doesn't look old at all, so I think he's perfect for Legolas in the Hobbit. And Lee Pace who plays Thranduil in the movies is a few years younger than Orlando Bloom.

I know I vouch for other people, but maybe not the majority of people here - so let's say, just for me, the new beard seems to be superior, well at least for Gandalf. It isn't so straight; it's much more wavy, and really livens him up, and distinguishes him from other minifigures with the previous beards. I agree with you on the staff not being very creative, because, well, it's not. Though it would not come to a surprise to me if a new staff mould would be made for his, but with my hopes aside, I'll just go with the Brickforge staff, which would suit fit. LEGO was just too focused on all those other new moulds they've already made for the minifgures is all!

The fact that the beard is more wavy is good, but I think they could have done a much better job on it, since they are supposed to be some of the best LEGO designers in the world. But when I see those minifigs I doubt that they are.

Well, 2006-2008 were almost the worst minifigs ever! They had no....no....Feeling. But then, there was that year four Hermoine from harry potter that was just plain ugly... Ron just makes me laugh every time I look at the year four version of him.... :V

False. Well, in my opinion anyways - the first year of Star Wars seemed so expressionless. http://www.bricklink.com/ml/sw019a.jpg
The next version of the minifigures at least had definable faces.
http://www.bricklink.com/ml/sw079.jpg
But later on nothing seemed better than the newest versions since 2010.
http://www.bricklink.com/ml/sw395.jpg

But this is just for Star Wars.

I like all of them. The old yellow faces are great because they are so simple. You can use them for everything, while some flesh heads with many facial lines can only be used for some special characters, because they look either too old or weird. Another thing is that I definitely accept facial lines, but only if they don't ruin the minifig heads, I mean LEGO minifigures didn't have them for many years and now they are... well... unfamilar.

The lines can be good, if you add them correctly, this head for example is quite good in my opinion.

The orcs, Uruks and Rohirrim are awesome, as well as Eomer, Theoden, Gollum and Haldir. Gandalf is not good, but average. The only minifig I really can't stand is Boromir (well mainly his head, the torso is awesome). I would make him a different shield design too.

My parents do not give me any LEGO sets for my birthday and Christmas anymore, because they think I am too old for it. That means I must by everything by myself. :(

Oh, I feel very bad for you. I have the opposite, my father loves Lego, (I have even convinced him to get his own MOCpages account) and so even if I do not ask for it (Which has only happened once) I still get Legos. My mother, though she does not play with them like my father, still likes them as well. Maybe I will have to send you more Legoas for your birthday so that you do not go without this year.

That's the case with me. I will probably never get Helms Deep. :( And the other bad thing is that I have to spend a huge amount of my money for driver's license, a new smartphone and other important non-LEGO-things.

I am happy because out of my seven favorite characters in the hobbit, 5 are in Bag End, so I will probably get that first. Then I will get the Mirkwood spider set.

That's true. And besides that Bag End is the best building and the LEGO maps of Wilderland and the Mountain are amazing!

Definately. I think I will get the barrel escape, unless it is ridiculously priced. Since the spiders are 30 bucks, that might be dangerous... D: I will for sure get the mystery of the ring though. :)

I won't buy the mystery of the ring, because the only minifigs in it are Gollum and Bilbo, and if I buy Bag End, I will have both of them (Bilbo hasn't got his adventure torso though)

Brown is very important for me. I need it for the eagles in one of my next HOBBIT episodes, but at the moment I don't seem to have enough bricks...

Yea, brown is one of my shallower tubs... Thanks for sharing!! Wow, the new clones in 75000 look really great and the LoC sets are quite useful, although they don't have thousands of brown bricks in it. Perhaps I will just buy some Vulture Droids or something...
