LEGO The Lord of the Rings: The Video Game

Quoting LEGO Lord
A LEGO The Lord of the Rings video game is very possible, and is most likely going to be released not long after (as predicted) the sets are released in 2012. We have already seen Star Wars being visioned a million or so times already, we don't need to see another one, we probably want to see all three The Lord of the Rings (and perhaps the two Hobbit films) visioned in a LEGO form. I can see it go through pretty well, considering that TT Games actually stated that "It could work".

Who said we are getting LEGO LOTR?

I had that idea, too! :D It would be cool, if it were very similar to the LEGO Star Wars video games and it should also contain more than 80 playable characters. And who of the Lego games fans does not know the museum from Indiana Jones, the Cantina from Star Wars or Arcam Asylum from Batman. I suggest Bag End for the new start place! It has many rooms and details for all the features and levels: It's just perfect! The first level could be the battle of the second age (characters to play: Elrond, Isildur, Elendil and Gilgalad)

TWO Hobbit films?

Of course!:D They are going to make two, because one would be too short. They also extend the story and invent new characters.

I completely agree with all of this! I thought of the exact same things. You put in the game, watch a cut scene, and you start off in the middle of a giant battle field, commanding troops to attack orcs. After that you will fight against an over sized minifigure Sauron. After finishing the level and it's outro cutscene you will find yourself over 1,000 years later within Bag End as Frodo Baggins and Samwise Gamgee, you will have to find the entrance to the first level of FOTR (The Last Alliance is an epilogue to the game) which would be leaving The Shire. If you want to know more I can tell you. The hub would stretch across Middle Earth.

Excellent ideas! Another idea would be (if Bag End were the start place) to put the levels on a middle earth map (like in the LEGO Indiana Jones game) or on different pages of the Red Book.

what they should do is have bag end as hub, but then have different rooms where there is a book, map, more rooms, something to let you go into levels. probably map though. otherwise i agree.

Yeah! I prefer Bag and as hub, too.

I'm not sure if the hub would be exactly like LEGO Indiana Jones 2: The Adventure Continues, IGN stated that it was a mess. It would be similar, but easy to navigate, I thought there would be the story-swap feature within the hub, and you can switch to the story of Aragorn and then to Frodo and play specific levels. I was thinking considering the films' long length there would be eight levels for each movie. Along with bonus levels and the prologue "The Last Alliance" level in the beginning of the game. I could list the levels that I thought of if you want.

The Fellowship of the Ring

Some ideas: level 1 : The Last Alliance (A long battle such as the battle of Geonosis in Lego Star Wars 1)

level 2 : The Shire (starts when Gandalf arrives and ends when Bilbo leaves Bag End. For this level the could invent quests like they did in the Dagobah level of Lego Star Wars 2. Characters: Frodo, Gandalf, Bilbo(later))

level 3 : A Knife in the Dark (starts in Bree and ends on the Weathertop. Characters: Strider, Frodo, Sam, Merry, Pippin (and of course Bill the Pony)

level 4 : The Pass of Caradhras or The Gates of Durin (starts in Rivendell, when the Fellowship begins the journey and ends at the Gates of Durin. Characters: The Fellowship)

Level 5 : The Mines of Moria (ends with Gandalf's 'death')

Level 6 : Lothlorien (starts outside of the Mines and ends when they leave Lorien)

Level 7 : The break of the Fellowship (starts with the boatage and ends with Boromir's death etc)

The Fellowship of the Ring

I thought of something more like this (I didn't write down any fancy names):

Epilogue (kind of a tutorial for the gameplay, Battle against Sauron):

1. The Last Alliance

The Fellowship of the Ring:

1. The Shire (once Frodo and Sam leave to start the journey)
2. The Prancing Pony
3. Weathertop
4. Race to Rivendell
5. Pass of Mount Cahradas (the level ends after fight against the Watcher in the Water outside Moria)
6. The Mines of Moria
7. Lorien
8. Uruk-Hai Attacks (the breaking of the Fellowship)

The Two Towers:

*Path of Frodo:

1. The Marshes
2. The Black Gate
3. Oliphaunt Ambush/The Pools
4. Invasion of Osgiliath

*Path of Aragorn:

1. Edoras
2. Warg Encounter
3. Battle for Helm's Deep

*Path of Merry and Pippin:

1. Fleeing to Fangorn
2. Battle of Isengard

The Return of the King:

*Path of Frodo:

1. Minas Morgul
2. Shelob's Lair
3. Cirith Ungol
4. Mount Doom (requires "Black Gate Battle" completion to unlock, Aragorn moves the orcs out of the way)

*Path of Gandalf:

1. Siege against Gondor

*Path of Aragorn:

1. The Path of the Dead
2. Battle of Pellenar Fields (requires Siege of Gondor to access)
3. Black Gate Battle

I think the idea of making different paths (like in LOTR: The Return of the King)is definitely good, but they needn't say "this is Frodo's path or "this is Gandalf's path". I think they can just make levels with different characters as they did in Lego Star Wars 2.

Trust me, it is not official. I'd be the first to know about a LEGO LOTR game. I asked LEGO if they will make it and they said it is a secret.

Anyways I am not saying the paths have to be called "The Path of (name here)" I am just calling it that here on MOCpages so you can understand. I thought of a draft for a character chart and new abilities.

You asked The LEGO Group ??? How did you make this ??

Totally agree! I would love to see a LOTR Video Game! Of course, that would kind of spoil making purely imaginative LOTR legos, right? Oh, well, it'd be sweet. I'd skip right to ROTK and play the Siege of Gondor level. They could have like a thing through the streets and the goal is to destroy the seige tower by manning catapults and destroying the trolls. The figs could be Gandalf and Pippin, and then you could try and chase Denethor after defeating his guards. Just a thought. I am dying to see what LEGO does with this new Hobbit movie!

Yeah! And at the end of that level Gandalf should fight against Denethor with his staff!

PS: LOTR ROTK is awesome! Here's a hint for the Minas Tirith level: When the enemy is too strong just run away and hide. When you then have enough magic, kill an orc chief to get more life. Good luck!! ;)

It would be cool if they had two LEGO LOTR games.

One, would follow the movies,

Two, would follow the book.

But I mean two series, not two huge games.

Hmm... Interesting. But they must create the characters after someone's own imagination (as they did in the movies). But it would be also cool because of the missing characters (Tom Bombadil, Goldberry, Fredegar Bolger, Imrahil, Erkenbrand, Barrow-Wight, Druedain, Quickbeam, Elladan and Elrohir, etc ...)

The Game is really fun. The I got really mad though when they didnt give me my exclusive Elrond figure from the prologe when I pre-ordered the game. I built a updated version of Last Alliance for the lunch and was going to put him in when I didnt get the figure it didnt look right. Should I post the updated Version? Tell me if you want to see it.

argh, That's too bad...

I got the game and it's awesome! I was disappointed about LEGO Star Wars III and LEGO Indiana Jones II, but this is as great as Indiana Jones I and the 2 first LEGO Star Wars video games!

The game begins with the battle of Dagorlad, where you can play Elrond, Isildur and Elendil and fight against Sauron who is much bigger than the normal minifigs.

After that you are in the base which is not at all like the Mos Eisley Cantina/ Dexter's Diner in LEGO Star Wars, but much bigger: You can travel around in Middle Earth. (Of course everything is like a mini-version of Middle-Earth so that you can reach everything by foot). You can also always open the map to see where you are at the moment. when you reach special locations like farmer Maggot's fields, you can play levels. When you are done with it, you can always play them again when you choose then on the map. So far I have only played "The Black Rider" and the prologue, but I can promise a lot of fun. In "The Black Rider" you must escape from the Nazgul, but you can also switch to Gandalf and fight against Saruman.

Yes, I have played it. The video quality is excellent and the moves of the characters are more realistic than in any other LOTR game. The dialogues are a bit disappointing, though, because it doesn't matter what you say, you will always get the same result. Also there is a roleplay part at the very beginning in Bree and it was quite good, butr for some reasons it was missing for the rest of the game. I would buy it always again though!

Cool way ti bypass: Just get as many studs/coins as you want, then do Save and Exit. Save. You will unlock Sauron and MoS. Also, I hope they make a LEGO Witch King, Sauron, Bilbo (Old) Bilbo (Very Old) and (This is not related to LotR, and will never happen...) JOHN MARSTON, JACK MARSTON, AND ABIGAIL MARSTON, AND A BANDIT AND FAR CRY 3 PEOPLE. (And yes I play these games at 11...)

Did you see my other message? I don't think you did.. : I'd love to play, (I was at violin lessons) But whenever I try to get on it asks me to update my Java, so I do, and when I go back it sends me the same message. : Any suggestions?

Try refreshing the page after you update Java, and make sure you go through the entire downloading process. When the box pops up saying something like "World.181/runescape.java/ is requesting acess to your computer, click allow, and it should work. If none of those work, then I'd suggest asking about in on the forums.

Oke doke, but I can't go on tonight, so we'll have to arrange it tommorow. What time zone do you live in? Because my time (Nova Scotia), is probably ahead of yours, so it would be later for me. See you tommorow!

And after you played the story through, you can visit Bag End and create your own characters.

Oh cool!

I've finished the story, and I've now been exploring and gathering the mythril bricks! I love fighting the Orcs at night time! What's better is that you can battle them even after you've collected the mythril brick for that battle!

In the hub, it's also great for 2 players who want to be a bad guy and good guy and set up their own "missions." It's lots of fun!

Yes the hub is humongous,
I wish there were more horses you could ride though...

Uhh! Yes! Thankfully they have the keystones...but sometimes it isn't enough....when you get off a horse, it sprints away :(

The hub is bigger than the batman one, but with the batman one, you can literally go anywhere (besides in buildings, but that's it). With this game, you're kinda set to a specific layout :)

I thought that the idea of having Middle-Earth as the hub was a cool idea at first but now I wonder what the game would have been like had there been a real hub like the Green Dragon or the Prancing Pony or maybe even Minas Tirith. Bag End would have been cool too.

I pre-ordered it months ago, and just found it amongst a stack of mail I had set aside. Funny, and it had the exclusive Elrond and everything. I've put about three hours in, and its really fun.
