Going Away for A While

Well my fellow addicts, it appears that life is doing its best to break me of the ABS habit...

Although this certainly isn't my choosing, I'm going to be slipping further into the shadows for a while. How far into the shadows, I can't say. I'm going to take it one step at a time...

The bottom line is that I've very little time after my greater priorities (ie work and time with my family) for Lego. And what little time I do have left these days ends up being dedicated to my duties as MOCpages moderator, and other on line activities such as additional threads (like this one) and other Lego sites. It's literally been months since I've had even a couple of hours to build.

So, with time at such a premium, I've decided to no longer participate in group chats. If that doesn't do the trick, then I'll have to take the next step and resign from my duties as Mod (but we're certainly not there yet). Hopefully these steps will allow me at least a little bit of time to dedicate towards building.

I'm sorry to have to announce this, as I've immensely enjoyed being able to provide my perspective and input to those who've looked to me for guidance. And perhaps the work load will eventually ease up, and I can return to spending more time with the community. But, for now, I need to re-direct my energies.

I leave you in the very capable hands of our esteemed Mr. Phipson (God help you all!) for advice and guidance. Thank you so much to all who've been encouraging about my work, and to all who I've had the honor of inspiring. You'll never know how much this hobby, and those within our community have meant to me.

I won't say goodbye, because I'll never leave MOCpages entirely. But, rather I'll say "see you around" in the hopes that I'll eventually be able to return to MOCpages with the energy and time that I once had.

Thanks so much gang - keep building for me!

I.... I can't believe this... MocPages, without a Kelso? The site will feel so empty! D: However, life should always come first, and I respect your decision to take a little sabbatical. I really, really hope you decide to return some day. See you around!

Well I only just joined this group half a month ago (and I don't write in it much), so as far as commenting goes, things won't seem that different to me. However if you quit Moderating altogether Mr. Kelso, that will be a real downer (I mean seriously, who else around here builds 7ft long Lego star-ships with "likes" in the thousands)? But I guess all of us Lego lovers have to face the cold hard reality of life before Lego (and family should always come first). So we'll leave it at: "See you around Mr. Kelso!" ~Ian

Quoting Mark Kelso

Wow, that came as a surprise! I've always enjoyed your feedback and advice, and it will certainly be missed. However, I understand and sympathize with your plight. If I had time to either build or help a bunch of kids I'd chose building any day. So hopefully your taking a break from some of the groups gives you enough time to finish up the Eye, and maybe you'll start making more than one MOC a year. ;) I definitely hope that you stay as a MOCpages mod though, it wouldn't be the same without you. That said, I'll see you around!

Well, if you do go, I'll have to say it'll be really different. No Mr. Kelso? I hope you don't have to resign as Mod, but first things first, and that puts other stuff second. Thanks for all the time and effort you've put in to help make this site great.

*sniff*

He's not "leaving" all together everyone, just taking some much needed, and much deserved time for himself and his homelife.

I'll still be in touch with Master Kelso (and I use that term in the highest respect) through emails and phone calls (he knows I can't go a week without listenting to that sultry voice HAHA).

Don't worry mocpagers, I'll do everything in my power to make sure that Mark is never TOO far from our home here on MOCpages.

In the mean time, Mark...

Do what you need to do to make things right for you and know that the gang is always just a click away. Me... I'll be bugging ya in a couple of days. You'll NEVER be rid of me! I'm worse than a cockroach! MUHAHAHAHA

Take your time man. Take your time.
Family is always the most important.
We will miss you but wont forget.
So when you feel like having the nessecary energy to again share time with the community, im pretty sure it wont feel like you have been gone at all.
Just my thought on the subject. And i know you dont know of me. But i know of you. :)

Quoting Seth .
Seems not much people care about Kelso. :P

A site of 100 000 members and eight of them care... It's like he's left already. Either that or everyone's too busy with the MocAthalon...

It's better than seventy bionikiddies wangsting about one of their fellows pretending to leave.

He's not even leaving, he's just going on hiatus. You probably know this, but in the Lego community, you're not really "someone" until you've gone on a highly publicised temporary dim age.

I care... It is what everybody needs to do sometimes I think.

Mark, I've made it know before that The Rusty Ferret was my inspiration to start building again. A stunning big ship build and yet to be bettered IMO, although I think that with time, the Eye of Chaos will raise the bar even higher.

You've done so much for MOCpages and LEGO builders (perhaps too much!) I just want to thank you for all your efforts over the past two years I've been visiting MOCpages. I only hope you don't stray too far and can pop in from time to time. Better we have fleeting glimpses of your brilliant builds than none at all, so take all the time you need to rightly prioritize things.
