So what did YOU get this year? Inquiring Kelso's want to know!

While I try not to get lost in the superficial "gimmie...gimmie...gimmie!" aspect of the Christmas holiday, I always love hearing what others received as gifts from family and friends - especially in the way of Lego. (And let's just temper this litany of good fortune for a second here with an awareness that there are countless...COUNTLESS...families out there unable to afford anything the likes of which we'll be rattling off here. And if you were able to give and recieve gifts - you're one of the lucky ones.)

So, let's hear from those of you who were lucky enough to receive Christmas gifts - Wad'cha get?

I did not get any Christmas gifts, but was fortunate to get some Hanukkah presents, is that acceptable to mention here?

Okay:
From a cousin, in an annual gift exchange, I got the Pharoah's Quest Scorpion Pyramid. I don't know how, because the limit on gifts is supposed to be $35.
From Parental Units, I got a six-foot english longbow, some shirts, matching mythbusters mugs, some small lego impulse sets, and a $35 bricklink order that I made a few weeks ago. They withheld it from me. The bricklink order allowed me to finish my Stormwalker. Yay!
Last, but not least, my Grandparents are bringing me, my two sisters and my older cousin on a trip to london for two days and Ireland for seven over the summer. Luckily, it does not impede with Brickworld, as it is one month later. All in all, this was one heck of a Christmas.

I'm a bit more in to Technic pieces, so I'm getting 2 Furno 2.0s, Surge 2.0, Evo 2.0, Ackar, and Kiina. The reason I'm "getting" them is because I ordered them and they are coming this Wednesday. My siblings and I also got an Apple iPad from our dad( it's mostly for our mom, though). And my amazing grandparents got each of us tickets to Universal Studios that last the whole year! A wonderful Christmas it was! :D

Seriously, my wife and I don't really get each other much, we get what we want and tell the other, 'see what you got me for Christmas?'. I refuse to buy clothes for someone and she would rather avoid the LEGO aisle, so this way we get what we want/like. I did get her the perfume she likes and a she got me some Oregon Ducks jamma bottoms. I scored some second hand LEGO sets a few weeks back; 4 Indian Jones sets+the old Power Functions dino for $100 and a big tub of old, old, I'm talking as old as Kelso, bricks that will mostly be for kids to play with, but I count it all as Christmas loot. Today I'll hit a couple stores and see about some clearance deals, but my B-day is in 3 weeks, so whatever (if anything) I score, will count as B-day gifts.~H

Cool. It is always nice to get what you want. Then you don't need to feign excitement.

Now that my family knows that my youngest brother and I like LEGO, we got great Hannukah gifts. About 150-180 in gift cards for LEGO, about 60 in cash, 1 Ostrich Race, 1 Brickmaster Star Wars (that book that costs 30 dollars comes with 240 parts and 2 figs) and 1 Flying Mummy Attack (this is total between us). Then we bought the Emerald Night, Seabed Strider? (7977), and Cursed Cobra Statue, so I'd say a good haul.

Well, mostly I'm always glad for the gift of Christ. Tangibly, however:

5 good old books
1 Gerber multi tool
Money
Winter cycling tights (triathlete here)
1 Kingdoms Duel Set

Gift to the whole family from Mom and Dad:

A huge 4 section tent for camping.

We like spending time as a family, and we like the outdoors. Honestly, for this year, I gave more Lego than I got. That's okay though. It's what Christmas is all about.

Kelso, what did YOU get? I've got another question to ask you in the questions thread!

Great gifts this year! I got the following:

S3 minifigs
POP Ostrich Race
HP Quidditch Match
HP Diagon Alley
HP Hogwart's Castle
Grand Carousel
Leather coat
Music - New Linkin Park and "Francis the Mute" by Mars Volta
Movies - Shrek 4, How to Train Your Dragon, Avatar, and Mighty Orbots (an old, old, OLD saturday morning cartoon that I've been wanting for years!)
Best Buy Gift card ($50)
A new laptop computer

Whew! That's a LOT. To top it off, a huge batch of BL orders I placed for myself have been coming in - a little over 25k pieces! - and the family has been together for several days...it's been FANTASTIC!!!

LUCKY!

Ok, for mine (I'll just stick with the Lego stuff cause you guys don't want to hear "socks and underwear..."

Atlantis 8076 deep sea striker

Creationary (wife wants to play but I have to build 6 models to every one of hers)

Troll's Mountain Fortress 7097

Two Lego "spot" target gift cards (only 5 bucks on em, but it was more about the Lego than the gift cards on that one)

Then the day after I scored some stocking stuffer bagged Lego for 2 bucks each (half off).

All in all, a good score! Looks like everyone else made out like bandits as well!

Merry Christmocs everyone!

Well, I must admit that I received just about every set on my wish list year, which was quite unexpected.
To the list:
10216 Winter Village Bakery (received early so I could set up a Christmas display -- yay! Lego in the living room!)
7036 - Golden Statue Guardians (Pharaoh's Quest)
7301 Flying Mummy Attack (Pharaoh's Quest)
5983 Space Police Undercover Cruiser
7743 Police Command Center
7948 Kingdoms - Outpost Attack
7946 Kingdoms - King's Castle

Obviously, the last two were major scores for this castle brickcomicker, but the Pharaoh's Quest stuff was vital for an upcoming storyline.

As a hint of what else may come out of all this loot, let's just say The Space Pirates (working title) is currently in preproduction and there is more than likely a new Blockocop adventure in the works for late in 2011.

In addition the sets, I recieved a lovely vignette from Mr. Bones in our first ever Secret Santa exchange and Chris Phipson honored me by completing my collection of the Series III collectible mini-figs with just over half of the series!

My heartfelt thanks to Bones and Chris, and an extra-special thanks to my wife and daughter, who decided to forgo their plot to have me maimed for Christmas and gave me Lego instead!

Speaking of BL. Do you know any really good stores that sell good bricks cheap? I need a lot for what I am planning next.

Each store will offer good prices on one thing, and not so good on something else. If you're looking for only one particular part in a large quantity - search for the part, then compare prices (and I usually have the sellers listed by "highest quantity" first). If you're looking for decent prices on multiple parts, it gets trickier, but House of Logos has been consistently good for variety, volume, prices, and service. They're perhaps my favorite seller at the moment.

Well, I received that great Secret Santa room from Chris, and I also was able to receive the Anubis Temple, Lavatraz (Power Miners), the little impulse bag with the crossbowman, three Mummy minifigs, the Baseball player and the Hula girl. (I bought them all and gave them to my wife to wrap up and give me, sad huh?). Now Phipson, we can discuss prices for you to mail me some of your S3 figs, but it appears you GAVE THEM ALL AWAY!!! I still love you though..kiss-kiss.

Did you get the baseball player? That one is a rare mini-figure. Oh and what ones do you have?

I've been pretty lucky with the S3's. I've got at least one of each. Two of most. I didn't mess with getting any more of the baseball player (not really into any sports-oriented MOCs so I didn't feel the need for a full team). BUT...

I'm happy to say I've got 6 of the Samurai figs and 6 of the Elves (thank you, Phippy, for your contribution!) at this point. I'd like to get an even dozen of the Elves eventually. Other than that it's time to save up for S4, which should be along in the spring - WAHOO!

Well, I don't have very many LEGO parts. LDD is somewhat lacking in types of parts, but have infinite of them pre-organized does not suck. Plus, a lot of the things built on LDD are quite overpriced (http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/243524),so for some people LDD is the only way to go. I've been trying to switch to LDRAW, but I cannot even figure out how to download it.

For most Lego enthusiasts a wallet is kind of a moot point. I mean, we never have any money to put in it since we spend every dime on Lego. But then, I suppose we can all use our wallets to hold the Lego VIP card, right? ;-)
