Nice nanoscaled diorama. You represented that piece of action efficiently and with no distractions. Still a bit rough, both in build and photography, but you're getting there.

I don't know... my AFOL-sense is tingling but I can't pinpoint where it comes from. Same thing about the bombing: still a bit rough, but it's not that. There's something about the action that seems off. I'll let you know. Permalink | September 27, 2010, 6:32 pm |

You still need to find a fancy name for them, and let that kind of creature be known by posting some more of them and adding them to groups.

I would like to know what you think of some one who customizes. Not poor looking clones, but I mean some cutting and stuff like that. I really need to do that for historical accuracy, like a Dragoon Helmet. I would need to cut off the large end of a Firefighter's helmet, and glue some fuzzy felt onto it. What would you think of that? It's not like I would be doing a lot of it. Only when needed for Historical accurateness. Permalink | October 17, 2010, 11:48 am |

I'm a purist, so you're asking the wrong guy... yet I can't really see the need for ALL that accuracy, seen how minifigs are just chunky approximations (or parodies) of a human body in themselves... it would be like creating a low-res polygonal character and give him astoundingly rendered equipment: it wouldn't make sense (that's also why I dislike BA and stuff). Ooh! My turn!
Well, my 30-likes moc has been up since August, but Kelso gets 30 smilies within 4.6 seconds. ;)
To make your mocs popular, just comment normally (without saying "plz chek out mi mocs) and people will probably look at a few of your mocs. Entering contests (preferrably the MocOlympics or something of that calibre) can also help out. People think 'Hey, this is good, wonder what his other mocs look like?' Worked for me, it seems. Check out Dylan B's little essay as well, it has some neat pointers.

Truth is, I'm not much into custom body parts. I pride myself of my action figures' durability, and I like the thought that a 5-6 years old could play with them without causing a rain of pieces to fall down.
Sometimes fragile details are unavoidable, but custom body parts are often so flimsy that you can't even pose your MOC to take a pic without being careful.
Of course I create custom limbs for larger builds, but even then, I prefer to put a solid LEGO Technic structure under them.

Not many MOCs get more than 30 smiles, unless they're Star Wars or Halo. Transformers are doing great too these days.
Popularity of the MOC is not directly related to its quality, it's influenced by the builder's popularity, the theme's popularity, and random chance.
This said, you tend to get most of your "likes" in the first 24-48 hours, with a small "revival" when (if) your MOC gets to the "explore" page and then eventually if it gets featured on the main page, or even if it gets MOTD.
Why, I like the guy...

Some questions about LUGs for the renewed Israeli LUG:
Are you going to a LUG? If not, why?
Do the LUGs in your country allow TFOLs to participate?
Do you know any good ideas for LUG activities?
What is your favourite activity?
What do you like in your LUG?
What are talking about with your LUG-mates?
What activity is the best for a new LUG that hasn't made even one meeting yet?
Have you got any general advice for new LUGs?
1- No. I just don't have that kind of commitment to LEGO.
2- I have no idea. I visited ITAlug once, but the site's graphic pushed me away instantly. Seriously, you couldn't look twice at the page.
3- Yeah, go build something.

Depends on size and bulk. Assuming a humanoid design: less than 20 studs tall, pneumatic T pieces will suffice, and they're the most flexible joints around. More than that, you'll want something sturdier; Knights Kingdom/Exo Force click joints, perhaps. Bionicle ball joints are useless for anything with appreciable mass. Anything over 50 studs or so will almost always require worm gears; nothing else has the sheer strength. Permalink | November 17, 2011, 8:57 pm |
