Hi! New person. Any advice?

Oh, where do I begin?

1) If Chris Phipson is near, just keep walking and don't make eye contact.

2) While Mega Bloks appear to be Lego compatible, they're actually the spawn of the devil, and will cause spontaneous human combustion along with a bad case of jazz hands.

3) People on this site are terrific, so mingle, build, and have a blast! Fire away with any specific questions. And welcome aboard!

General Kelso, I must ask for you to share thine wisdom. As you know I'm making a series called "Screaming Eagles" about the 101 during WWII(you dont? oh well yah do now) I recently added a new character for to series and I have been getting a medium on the "Bad-esque Idea" gauge can you take a look at it and give me your opinion on my decision? http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/226843

Not bad. I'm curious enough at this point to see where you're going with the character.

I had kind of a fun notion when the woman was first spotted (I'm assuming that's the character you where refering to) that she was a ghost or something and no one else could see her. Not THAT would be a cool idea for a war story...someone who'd passed away, saving the life of someone still living by coming to them in a vision and leading them to safety.

Sounds like an awesome idea! Sort of like Ben Kenobi helping Luke in the classic Star Wars movies.

Mark? I made a preview MOC for my 1-year MOC, and.... LOOK AT WHAT IT GOT! http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/227141
21 like its 300 views. This is NOT the actual MOC! Just a preview. Do you say this is INSANE?!?!?

Well, 'coming' is spelled with one 'm' and there really isn't a rule about correcting grammar on here.

If you're wanting to avoid further mistakes, try downloading Mozilla Firefox; it tells you via red underline if something is spelled incorrectly and gives you options to fix it.

Otherwise, WIP usually attract a lot of views, and whets the apatite of your audience, so don't sweat the comments. If you don't want 'em, un-check that box that says 'Enables comments.'

That's just my 0.02, take it or leave it.

Are you happy with that number of responses...if so, that's great. The longer you're around, and the more you comment on other's posts, the more comments you get yourself. Let's see what happens with the final post - here's hoping you get some great feedback.

I'd say work for more complexity in your creations. That means more detail, and perhaps larger works.

Your presentation is actually pretty good, and your chopper, IMHO, is a step up in contrast to your earlier pieces...so, you're definitely heading in the right direction. Just keep pushing the skill level and creativity. Some nice work, in the mean time!

Kelso,

http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/212451

1 I was wondering if you could give me a little review of this MOC (mainly the photography and layout), and maybe some tips on techniques I used (the bomb falling fire thing, the moving/floating ship)

2
I also use my iPod Touch sometimes to go on this website and it's sort of a pain to zoom in and out on the small screen. (the iPod Touch is considered 'a mobile'). If a site is mobile-compatible, it will bring up a mobile website with a slightly different layout to fit a mobile's screen. I was wondering if a 'mobile MOCpages' could be possible in the future...

Thanks

Remember that comic I was working on? Well, I decided to re-write it (for my purpose), and have been working on the set for episode one. I just can't come up with a title. It needs to be short, yet invokes a strong sense of emotion. The title I came up with is: Avenged. I don't want to say anything of the story because it is a HUGE twist in the E.N.W.G. story line. I am keeping the idea of having the viewers come up with their own interpretation of the story. For the first episode I have selected Boulevard Of Broken Dreams by Green Day. The video that I selected with the song edited out the one swear: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gWNRUVMboq4

REALLY nice work. I loved the vertical format, and the motion of the bomb drop was well executed. Some of the pics, with elements in focus and others out of focus, was nicely done, too. I might suggest...if you have the capacity...to go with a grey or black background with MOCs that have a lot of white. The only other thing that bothered me, and only a bit, was your camera angle on the vertical shot. I would've just tilted things a tiny bit so the vig was perfectly straight with the borders of the pic. But that's SUCH a minor issue.

As for a mobile MOCpages. I don't suspect that's anything on the immediate horizon, but if you want to plant a bug in Sean's ear about it, you could always send him a quick email with the suggestion.

Hey, not bad! I really liked the main shot, and then some of the pics with the single light source. I definitely would recommend taking the yellow cast down a bit on the first few pics, or eliminating that coloration entirely.

Nice job on the formatting of the images (i.e. the camera placement, cropping, etc.), and the build itself was very well done.

I reallly liked the clean quality of the build, Joe. The elimination of all of the studs, and the cool blue background are great touches.

I think if you were able to make the forms in the landscaping a bit more varied (i.e. less "boxy") that it might take the MOC up another notch. Oranic forms can be really tough to do in Lego, but when we see it done well, those MOCs always stand out.

My .02 on it.

Dude...great call on both counts! The short title still gives us a clue as to what it's going to be about, and "Boulevard" has the potential for some excellent imagery to go along with it. I'll look forward to seeing what you come up with.

I'm afraid it's been too long since I've done one...I can't remember the process. I'll have to learn it all over again next time I do one. BUT...

...if I'm not mistaken there are a few posts here on MOCpages that offer tutorials on how to embed tunes. (it's the same process, by the way, as embedding videos). Anyone here happen to know the link to those tutorials?

I can tell you that I use Playlist, and they have a tutorial as well. I also went into the HTML once it was on the new page I was making, and adjusted measurements so the embedded playlist was invisible.

Not a lot of help, but at least check into playlist, and meanwhile, hopefully someone here can provide a link or two for the full steps to embedding.

I do indeed have the capacity, so next time, I'll do a dark background. It seems to make sense. :P

Thanks for the tips (especially about straight photos and such) and comment, and I think I'll e-mail Sean, I hadn't thought of that.

My friend Jason, (AKA: Heber) he says that MOCpages isn't working for him. Unless he signs out. Signing in causes MOCpages not to work for him. Nothing works for him when signed in. It's weird. I know he didn't get banned cause his page is still up. Can you find the solution please? He can't take it much longer.

Yeah, I'll try to have it up this weekend, if not within the next 2 weeks. I really want to put that extra layer of "polish" on it. I have never made something entirely out of SNOT so this has been fun. I also started the set for #2 and that one is my favorite. I can give some away about that one. For followers of my E.N.W.G stuff, and people who read a lot of what I was talking about with Daniel Smith back in January, you would know about moon trench warfare. So for the set of episode two I hadn't planned on making it SNOT, but the after looking at all the studs it really horrified me mainly because of that lack of extra polish. So I redoing it, I came across something I hadn't before. The tunnels that went along with the trenches. When making the end side and the surface, I remembered about the tunnels in WWI so I kept it, and it adds even more polish!

I'm glad your taking the extra time to really nail down the clean look for the build. Going no studs can be more difficult and parts intensive, but it just looks so much better. My work schedule's got me completely distracted from the hobby right now, so please let me know when you've posted this one...looking forward to checking it out.
