I had to Google it, but I've had a blast the last 15 minutes or so wasting time at work by researching the "Skunk Ape." Listen to this quote taken from itsnature.org:

"Experts suggest that the reason the Skunk Ape is yet to be identified is that it may well live in underground dens where it hordes its stolen carrion..."

Yeah...or maybe, because it doesn't exist. LMFAO.

I'll have a brickfilm for sale some time around October of next year. Am I allowed to advertise that on my page? I emailed Sean Kenney about it, and he said it was fine. Would someone possibly end up deleting my page if I did? Also, if that's not alright, can I put up a link to a place where I would have it for sale?

Fishier than a tuna sandwich with a side of halibut on a salmon plate. Of course he spammed it but at this point, there's really nothing that can be done about it. If he'd spammed it to the point of having a couple thousand likes, then we'd take action. A couple hundred... not on the top of the priority list.

Hey, Phip. Remember me? Mr. 'Rebel'? Well. I read your comment (jeezus, you can rage) and I've been convinced that I'd rather not have you hate me. Granted, I'm not going to go to great lengths to repair this smoldering bridge, but I may as well give it a shot. But if you don't accept this peace offer, I'll just delete my comment and pretend this never happened. Or you could delete it for me; my activity on this site has grown more and more sporadic between marching band and lots of AP classes.

Now. I'm pretty sure you gave me my not score after I posted the big, bold disclaimer on the top of my page. You seem to think that I knew that LDD was not allowed. Au de contraire, in fact. If you scroll down to the first few comments on my page, you'll see that I thought LDD was in fact allowed, but was informed that it wasn't too late. Now. You never actually said that LDD was disallowed in either version of the rules, be it the official looking set in the rules thread, or the abridged version on the front page. You only stated it in the questions thread, which I wasn't keeping a close eye on. And as for the 'spit in the face' that I allegedly gave you, I'd like you to know that I viewed you giving me a score of zero as an insult. Harumph. Some 'show of respect'.

I read the rules and did my best, but you just slapped me in the face. And then you just levered your community position to get people to hate me over nothing. Mebbe YOU oughta take a look in the mirror. Good day.

Wow... that was supposed to be an apololgy? Ok then...

Look, every year there's always one of you that try to make a case for LDD being "real" Lego. It's not. It's a wonderful tool to use in design but it's not real Lego. Go ahead and LDD yourself a pizza. How does it taste? Or LDD a puppy, can he fetch that stick you threw? Or how bout a girlfriend? Is that the same as having a real one?

LDD is a good tool and fun to play with, but no matter what you say, it's not REAL Lego. The MocOlympics are for Lego builds, not computer drawings.

And further more, allow me to copy and paste the first line from your post:
"Yes. I know now that LDD is not allowed."

There ya go, end of story.

As for you thinking that I want people to hate you? Dude, I don't care either way. People will percieve you however they wish. If they love you or hate you is none of my concern.

You insulted me and my game by openly saying that you defy the rules even through you knew them and that you just "didn't have time to sift through the threads." Well, maybe it's time you learned some patience. Or heck, maybe if you couldn't find it... I dunno... maybe ASK? Sure we get ticked having to answer the same question 40 times, but for the most part we do it.

And you think I insulted YOU by scoring it a 0? Dude, I did you a FAVOR! I didn't delete the moc from the group and I left it open for the other judges to make their own decision about. You're the one that's being insulting here. Not me.

When I read your first line I was hoping that you'd come to your senses. I was hoping that you would basically say "hey Chris, I was wrong, let's move on." And I was totally ready to do just that. I'm not going to hold a grudge against you and I'm not going to "use my lofty powers" to try to get you ostricized from the group. I wish you the best of luck with your LDD creations and hope that you do well in everything you try... might want to take another stab at apologies though... just a thought.

Good luck to you.

Just changed some words here, the outcome is the same. Lego on the Internet people, serious business.

Though I fully support LDD/other digital methods as a means to build when you're financially unable (or away from your collection) to acquire the parts you need.

I agree 100%. LDD is great to mess around with if you don't have or can't get bricks on hand. It's also great for designing creations and then using those plans later. All this I agree with. It's just not allowed in the Olympics.

And on your other point, I agree as well. I thought the issue was over but some people just have to keep kicking a dead horse...

[Long winded speech about how he has the moral high ground]

/Facepalm
Seriously? I mean, ... Seriously? Elitist? A good build isn't determined by its size. Have you seen builders like Fredoichi over on Flickr? He's been repeatedly blogged on The Brothers Brick for builds that you can fit in the palm of your hand. Remember Nnenn? He loved Microscale, and built pretty small fairly often. The fact is that it's the QUALITY of a build that makes it great. The parts bit of my rant over with, I'll move along to the other things you said: First of all, what right do you have to call Chris immature? You've been whining about how you got DQ'd for breaking the rules, you insulted him AND his competition when he was the judge who gave you a chance for redemption, and you've repeatedly said you can't be bothered to look for a certain ruling on LDD. When it was presented to you, you said it didn't count. You were linked to it on the second or third comment, man! And you just blew it off. It may not have been in the main rules, but it was still declared non-kosher by Chris in the questions section. You know, for questions about the game and the RULES of said game?
And for that matter, OF COURSE it's official! That's where the judges made rulings about many, MANY other bits and pieces in situations similiar to yours, and the entrants followed said rulings and had no problem.
And finally, how is this anything like rascism? At all? There was no prejudice against you for using LDD. First of all, you were DQ'd for breaking the rules. Second off, Chris only became angry when you insulted him. See the connection here? Rudeness -> Anger. Huh, funny how those things work, right?
And let me just restate this, you weren't barred for being a minority, but for being a rule breaker.
*Ahem*. Sorry about that, but I really can't stand things like this. Chris does something as nice as host this wonderful contest for all of us (And gave people like me who screwed it up) a second chance, and then he gets crucified for it. Sheesh.

You do know they don't offer crayons right? (HAHAHA And you thought I forgot)

Joking aside...
1: To get your MOC into Brickworld is fairly simple. Just be a registered attendee for the full four days.

2: Absolutly! We're there all the time and we LOVE meeting all of you! Some people may seem "intimidated" by us and not approach us. Don't feel this way at all! We go to these conventions specifically to meet people! When you get there, if you see one of us, just walk up and introduce yourself. Don't worry if we "look busy," that's just an act.

3: Full registration entitles you to all 4 days of fun! Public days are only Friday and Saturday but full registration gives you Thursday and Friday as well! Not only is there SO much to see but there's also workshops and presentations that you don't get to be a part of if you're only there as a member of the public. Oh, and a giftbag and raffle prizes! For 50 bucks, you can't beat it man!

Registration opens in January I believe and I hope to see your name (or more specifically your parent's name) on the list!

So, correct me if I'm wrong, but it works like this for most lego conventions, does it?

1: someone decides to go. They beg, borrow and steal the money for a ticket to wherever the convention's being held this year.

2: they register on the site for the whole convention.

2B: the fee they pay is dependant on how much table space they think they'll need, eg; .5 m2, 2 m2, a table, two tables etc.

3: they find a hotel in the area that isn't too costly.

4: they fly over at great personal cost.

5: they spend the few hours they have in the wee hours of the morning before the convention starts putting everything back together and moaning about jet lag.

6: they set things up;
6A: if first time attendees, worrying about unpleasant people sneaking off bits of their display.
6B: if not, chatting with the guys next to them.

7: they mingle.

Actually, food poisoning doesn't turn you into a zombie.

Symptoms do replicate infection, though...

Care for a timeline?

8:30: Leftover Fish-N-Chips for tea.

9:00: Bedtime.

12:30: I say, bellyaches aren't much fun, eh?

1:00: Searching around in the middle of the night looking for a plunger.

2:30: Back to bed.

4:00: Mmm, Delhi Belly.

5:30: Montezuma takes his revenge.

6:00: Still got the trots.

7:00: Bed-time again.

9:00: All better.

10:30 PM: You're not getting away that easy!

TMI? Because I could use medical terms if you'd prefer...

Oh, and incidentally, that's why if I ever go to a developing country, I won't drink the water. Ever heard of Dysentery? Take the worst case of the squirts you've ever had, multiply it by 5 and add blood, fever and possible death.

Look at it this way, he's gotta look at himself in the mirror knowing that he has to lie about how many people like him. Sad really.

Okay, I guess we can live with that...

Sure. Phipson's unwritten rules, Phipson's unwritten contest.

Well, Chris being a bit light-headed at times notwithstanding, this was a bit harsh to all the others who have given their time and effort to make it happen. Contestants (and me) included.
Even without considering that the "no LDD" was among the first questions ever answered in the group, if you missed it you could have simply asked.
Even without asking, one can still see how digital LEGO is not actual LEGO.

I think at this point, we oughta just say that it was a silly misunderstanding and go home.

...

please?

Why? You ARE in part right, after all. It was just that the reaction was somewhat exaggerated.

Yeah? Well, I have a windmill in my beard! Who's argument is invalid now??

As Nicks was saying, you DID enter the Olympics, even if you entry was DQ'd or rated 0. That means you have access to all the side-games if you wish.
Only, not with a digital MOC :)
Let's move on, now...

(sometimes I should post some of my own LDD stuff)

Dear Chris,
I have been in a building slump lately and have just decided on what I would like to build. Now, if you did not know the title of my page is "Matt's Historical (Sci-Fi and Fantasy) Domination". Now I have PLENTY of Sci-Fi, and not enough History or Fantasy. I have Ideas for some Historical MOCs already so I don't need any help with that. What I do need help with is deciding on what to build that is fantasy. I have a movie picked out that I would like to build from. It is the movie "The Incredibles". I know I want to build miniland characters for it. I can't decide on what scene to build that would challenge me and not strain my collection too much. If you have seen the movie can you give me and Idea for a scene?

Glad I could help! Always good to know that I'm helping to make a positive influence on the young builders of today! HAHAHAHAHAHA (even better that you are starting to develope a sense of humor about it).

Jokes aside, good luck. You pulled the short straw on opponents there...

Gotta give ya points for being warped... And as sad as it may seem to you, your humor is right on track with how mine was not too long ago (while reading your list, I actually said to myself "wonder if he's going to end with Partridge in a pear tree." Thanks for not disappointing). Your pics look good so your presentation is heading in the right direction. Overall I'd say you're well on your way. Good luck!

I got one... try building the scene near the begining of the movie where he rips the tree out of the ground to stop the car. Make sure it's complete with little old lady worried about her cat that's clinging to the branch for dear life! Good luck!

Be rich.

Ok, jokes aside, you really want my advice on this...

In my opinion, kids these days put way too much pressure on dating way too young. Don't try (at this stage at least) to just go out there and "get a girlfriend." Stuff like that will come in time.

Just be friends with the girls first. Once they get to know you a bit, it'll be easier to find one that you gel with. I know peer pressure right now is telling you to "get the girl" but you've got PLENTY of time.

And if all else fails, just nail her with a caveman club and drag her back to your cave...

True, however, TLG does not endorse this site and is not affiliated with us in any way.

Megablocks, however shoddy a product it is, is close enough to Lego to be allowed on MOCpages. Were we a sponsored site, it would be a different story. Being privately owned... you see where this is going.
