Because I had a car battery, a jar of chunky peanut butter, bungee cords and a ceiling fan... come on, tell me you wouldn't do the same.

Hey Phipson, have you ever considered going to a doctor to find a cure for your lack of self pride?

Have you ever considered learning to shut your mouth? Who do you think you are?

People like you are the reason that Goldman left. You're not funny and your "banter" is not welcomed.

There's a certain way things work around here. First you EARN the respect of those that came before you (AFOL, TFOL and everyone else) and THEN you're allowed to TRY to be funny. You haven't gotten that far, so settle down sparky.

And Phipson replied to that... the Phipson reply of doom...
Anyways, he doesn't need a doctor. he's got enough self
pride, and you need to get some yourself.
Sorry to say that, buddy, but it came straight out of the piehole.

It's not just what you said HERE. I've been watching you lately and you should really think twice before you type.

I'm sure you're not a bad kid, just the opposite. You just need some direction.

This is the advice group so I'm going to offer you some advice. Slow down. Think before you type and ponder what the outcome of you posting what it is you're about to post might be.

Why do you people think I don't talk about politics, religion or other "hot button" issues around here? I have my very strong views on those subjects, but they don't belong HERE.

There is a very fine line you walk when attempting jokes. Know who you're talking to and be SURE that you have the kind of good repoir with that person before you "attempt" to be funny.

Here's some advice: 1.) Use the scroll bar to get through the bits you've read. 2.) Don't start a thread unless you actually have something specific to say that doesn't belong in the general conversation thread. 3.) It's probably not a good idea to start a thread unless you're the group's creator or a group moderator.

Now for the real question, is the "page format" for a moderator any different, or is it more like being a moderator in a group, where next to every comment there is a "delete" option, and you get sent a message for every questionable comment, if not how is it?

It is different. We have more options and fun little icons to click here and there. Our homepage is also different. And when we look at "your" pages, we have options on those too.

Yeap, I'm working on brickworld stuff right now... well, not this second becuase I'm typing... There's a lot on my plate there so I'll be busy with that right up until the day before BW I think.

So, do you plan your mocs or do you just sit down a build them? And do you recommend bricklink to pick-a-brick?

I usually have a pretty good idea of what I want going in. I have a visual in my head of what I want the build to look like, then I let the bricks lead me where they will. It all starts with a basic concept and builds from there.

Let's take my current TRON build for example. I had the basic plan of wanting a tank, a recognizer and the main control ship all on a grid pattern backdrop. My first version of the recognizer wasn't all that great but my second version (that I haven't posted yet) was pretty darn cool. A great artist once said of his sculptures that the statue was already in the granite he was carving it out of, he only removed what wasn't needed to let it out.

Am I saying I'm a great artist? No, not at all, but it's good advice. The moc is already there, you just have to apply the bricks to the right place to bring it out (not as easy as it seems, I know).

As for cracklink VS PAB. I personally choose PAB. Bricklink is AWESOME, no doubt, but I prefer to be able to go to the store and take my bricks home with me right then and there. Just my personal preference. For every person that says PAB is the way to go, there'll be one that says that cracklink is the one true path. You have to choose which is right for you.

Good luck ~ Chris.

First, it's Lego. Singular, even when speaking in the plural form.

Second, get straight A's on your report card, clean your room, wash the car, clean the garage, vaccumm the house, take out the garbage, do the dishes, walk the dog, clean the cat box and have all your homework done before 5pm... do all that for two months straight without being asked. Then ask for more Lego. If that doesn't work, then I've got nothing for you.

Good luck! ~ Chris.

(You guys think I'm kidding? Not at all. If you want more "rewards" whether it's Lego, video games or whatever, the BEST way to get it is by going above and beyond when it comes to helping out around the house. Trust me on this...)

Chris I'm not going to lie and tell you I didn't start writing this comment fully intending to follow Kelso's orders and post my best impersonation of a clone-kiddie, but actually a semi-pertinent inquiry just fired though my brain:

Writer's Block (or, rather, Builder's Block) - how do you get rid of it?

See, I find that I typically end up on the 'pages to either post a build, or to try to find inspiration for something to build. Sometimes the bricks just flow together seamlessly, with no thought - just expression. Other times, like now, I'll have something I want to build but I'll sit down in front of my bricks and go completely brain dead. What's that about?

And before all of you fellow AFOL's suggest it, NO. Building-under-the-influence is not a beneficial solution for me.

Nor me, but I keep doing it.....

If I may offer my humble opinion, I find my ideas actually outweigh my limited building time (pesky kids wanting food and the toilet - don't they realise daddy wants to play with his bricks) so I tend to scribble ideas down, maybe with a sketch, on a To-build list. Then you've got a bunch of things to go at and from the sketch you've got an idea of what it should look like. If it's a question of where to start, I break things down into elements and do a bit at a time, not necessarily in the most sensible order. My last MOC, i built the figs first, then vehicles, then scenery to accomodate it all. I only found out then that I would have to ditch 4 or 5 figs to avoid it being too busy. C'est la vie.

Quoting Chris Phipson

(You guys think I'm kidding? Not at all. If you want more "rewards" whether it's Lego, video games or whatever, the BEST way to get it is by going above and beyond when it comes to helping out around the house. Trust me on this...)

Amen! This is a very true statement fellas. Ok, enough of that, back to the smack!

And before all of you fellow AFOL's suggest it, NO. Building-under-the-influence is not a beneficial solution for me.

You could try drinking.....oh, forget it.....

a semi-pertinent inquiry just fired though my brain:
Those thoughts hurt my head.

Quoting Matthew David Writer's Block (or, rather, Builder's Block) - how do you get rid of it?
Watch TV. Take a nap. Use the bathroom. Eat something. Listen to your favorite music. Just get the motivation and imagination going.

Quoting Matthew David See, I find that I typically end up on the 'pages to either post a build, or to try to find inspiration for something to build. Sometimes the bricks just flow together seamlessly, with no thought - just expression.
Lego building can sometimes be poetry. Elegant poetry. But more often than not you'll get the horrificly sharpied 'mi awsim 245th clon troopr legin' to ruin that poetry and elegance.

Quoting Matthew David Other times, like now, I'll have something I want to build but I'll sit down in front of my bricks and go completely brain dead. What's that about?

Ah. Weetardo brickedemia. It happens to all of us.

Quoting Matthew David And before all of you fellow AFOL's suggest it, NO. Building-under-the-influence is not a beneficial solution for me.

Well I guess we're all a bit different. It worked for me a number of times...

Since my comment has to be modded for some reason, I will just say that I've (and I'm betting everyone else has) had your situation before. My best response was (and is) to always either watch TV, eat something, take a nap, or listen to music you like. Just do something that is not Lego related. That way your mind will be freshly recharged and ready to have a sit with the bricks. Oh, and I will admit that B.U.I is not the best solution.

Then how do you even build, it is a known fact LEGO has drug-like addictive qualities =P

Now for some serious advice, try building something you've never even considered building before, or watch TV, play video games etc. you'll eventually find something that you'll want to recreate.
