The other thread got a little long, so I opened a new one.
Again, no whining or complaining about reviews of your creations that you post here. What anyone says is their opinion and remember, by posting your moc here, you're asking for it. If someone has nothing nice to say about your moc... you asked for it. On the flip side, if someone has nothing BUT nice things to say...
Putting your link in this thread is NOT a promise that it will be reviewed by anyone. We do what we can.

While I did look at both, I'm not going to get into specific commentary on either in particular. Rather, I'm going to give you an overall view here.
First, let's talk picture quality. Blurriness and messy backgrounds are the BANE of so many mocs posted here on MOCpages... this of course is something you DON'T have to worry about. Congratulations on taking your time, lighting the moc properly, and making sure there's a clean background! Hats off to you there.
Second, Build Technique. Already incorporating SNOT designs in your floors?... Impressive. Most impressive (he said in his best Vader impersonation).
Now is the time to start working on the smaller details of your mocs. Play with different pieces and see how different elements work together. Start looking around at things in the real world and try to find the "Lego shapes" that are hiding in them. You've got the basics down, now's the time to start branching out and finding your niche in this hobby.
Just keep doing what you're doing kid. Good luck!

I checked out both of them and I'm going to tell you what I've told so many others in the past...
PLEASE use something to steady the camera on when taking your pics AND use a clean background!
Nothing kills a moc more than blurry pics and a messy background. No one wants to strain to make out what you built only to have their eye focus on the wrong part of the pic and see dirty underwear on the floor...
(before you all go clicking on his page looking for dirty underwear... it's not there, I was using that as an example. But that would be funny wouldn't it?)
Your builds are coming along, work on your picure quality. As a matter of fact... check out Sushi's mocs that I commented on. He's only 13 and has a pretty good handle on how to do it.
Good luck! ~ Chris. Permalink | January 16, 2010, 10:42 pm |

I've told you this before and I'll tell you again young friend. You're trying to build too big for your collection. Don't get me wrong, there's a couple of good points to this moc that I'll get to in a second, but this, like your last build that I looked at, are just too spread out with too many mixed colors.
First, my overall suggestion for you and your building style. If I were you, with the limited number of bricks, I would concentrate on building on a much smaller scale. No bigger than say 16x16 studs at the most. You've got some basic skill so I say nurture that with working on asthetics on a smaller scale before you try to go "epic."
A couple of things that I did like where the cobblestone path. Nicely done with the round studs alternating colors. Then, there was the dirt path and the pond. For those two features however, I'd like you to think about how they look in real life. A pond/river is on a lower level than the ground surrounding it. I know you're using a baseplate under it, but how about either building a higer ground around it that tapers down, or putting the river along the side and placing the baseplate next to it? Same with the pathway. A dirt pathway is trodden down by people passing over it and therefore would be lower than the ground surrounding it.
Don't get discouraged though, I see where you're trying to go with these things. Just don't try to get there overnight. Take a step back and try smaller. One must learn to walk before you can fly. You can't fly into flying.
Good luck! ~ Chris.
Thanks once again Chris! I do agree about the size. It is a contest entry so I was trying to be good. But as you pointed out try a smaller scale. Also same for the path and pond. BTW I just got set number 5891 Apple Tree House, and I will have a lot more same colored bricks now. Once again thanks! Permalink | January 16, 2010, 10:45 pm |

Yay! Thank you for the tips. I never really come up with any detail parts, but I'll just keep trying and eventually I'll find something.

Well Ryan, you've got a great start on this. A paper company that doesn't use it's own paper... typical. hahaha
My only advice would be to try not to start off on a baseplate for creations like this. You want your water line lower than the surrounding land. I'm kinda being a stickler on this becuase I recently made the same mistake myself on my current project and am kicking myself over and over for building on a baseplate when I KNEW it was going to be attached to water... *slaps forehead*
Other than that, you've got a great start here! Good luck! Permalink | January 17, 2010, 7:02 pm |

Not really much to say about a sig-fig. If you like it and you think it's a good representation of you, then it's all good. Your photo and lighting skills are good though so keep it up there.

Well, technically the thread title says "Shamless", so as long as your self-plug is genuine, authentic, and not counterfeit, you should be good. ;)
(I noticed it right away, but I thought I'd give others a chance to toss in a wisecracking quip - no one else stepped up to the plate.)
