"I've been offended!!!"

What do you find offensive? Now, I’d like to keep this conversation on the close to serious side please. I’d really like to know what you find truly offensive. There’s been a lot of talk that certain things shouldn’t be allowed. I’m looking to establish a base line or general coconscious as to what should and shouldn’t, in your opinion, be allowed? Remember, this is an opinion poll and doesn't mean that anything is going to change in any way.

I myself have a laundry list about a mile long about this topic… but I’m interested in what you have to say.

Keep it clean, keep it nice, no fighting back and forth. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Remember that line when I put in my two cents…

Is this thread restricted to only offensive things? I ask that because there is alot of stuff that grinds my gears, but isn't particularly offensive to me.

No, I wasn't joking about Phaze, him and Heber made a moc saying "Kill Marks!" And he is a member here. Members have rights and he was humiliated by that moc, I haven't seen him since!

And the only reason they didn't like Marks was because of disrespect, spamming, and countless insults, and a great deal of them about religion. Now, where did you see this moc?

Shweet. All righty then;
1) Deplorable grammar skills (Gee, that's new...)

2) "Cool. Check out my mocs" (But of course not spelled like that)

3) People who join the site, comment on other people's stuff, but don't have any mocs on their page.

4) People who constantly ask for instructions on my stuff.

5) Seeing a Star Wars Vig with no more than 100 parts but with 20+ I Like Its.

And possibly other stuff that hasn't surfaced in my head yet.

I can't believe they do the FBI thing.

I've heard about this FBI and CIA stuff. I was even invited to join those groups... as you can see, I didn't. There are (as of right now) three official "leaders" of mocpages. Sean, Mark and myself. Sean of course being where the buck stops. Anyone else claiming to be "in the know" or "a part of the leadership team" is basically blowing smoke and should be ignored. Also, anyone claiming to actually BE mocpages administration should be reported to us. Sean doesn't take too kindly to stuff like that.

Big laundry list here, too.

The most prominent ones, -apart from my extremist purism which says burn the brickarms and bury the clay, but those things aren't technically against the rules- are A: the people who post their copypasta sticker sheets and claim they're ub3r c00l d3cals, B: the people who don't even pretend to post lego related stuff and upload 'art' -using the word loosely- such as drawings and crude MSPaint scribblings and C: people who post previews: 'new br1carms prototypes lol!' 'new l3gos sets coming s00n!' and 'im made teh colest comic evar but ima post lots of annoying previews beforehand'.

Not saying MSPaint can't be good -far from it- just that what people usually make with it and post is utter garbage.

The rules that say 'lego only' should be more visible.

Actually, if you ask me, one good, cryptic teaser image does more to stir up curiosity than a hundred large trailers. Just sayin'.

There's other things I could go on about, like the state of modern morals, or Political Correctness (TM) which says you can't say anything that might offend anyone (free speech? What's that?) or the way the media's ganging up on Israel, but those aren't applicable to lego so I won't.

End note: really glad about Sean's 'say what you want in your house' policy. Good to know I can actually rant on about the sorts of things that should be one-way tickets to a summary execution without needing to worry about the Net-Gestapo kicking in my virtual door.

Yeah, and some of those rights say members can say or do whatever they want -within reasonable limits- on their own pages.

Besides, even though I'm not sure there even was a moc like that, I know for a fact that there was a little deal being made between Marks and Phaze that involved Marks leaving the 'pages for good.

Also, brownie thieves. My mom and brother stole my brownie. But that's another story that will end up with lots of profanities, not for telling here.

I don't like the drama groups, and furthermore, I don't like hate groups, even if they're aimed at someone I don't like. Not quite at offensive levels, but close.

Seriously though, I can't say I'm offended by much of anything on MOC pages, it's FAR too strong a word for my liking. Too PC. However, I will say that I have a BIG problem with the self-righteousness that has reared it's ugly head as of late, with not so veiled insults and threats of abandoning MOC pages altogether. I support Dr. Jones, even if he is Canadian, for the WAY he posted his MOC that seems to have started this whole melee. See, that was a subtle and harmless joke about Canadia that I know Dr. Jones will NOT be offended by. I hope.~H

No, the tradition is to take the commander of the enemy forces, humiliate him (the more unspeakable the methods, the better) and pack him off to his home to tell all his people exactly what happened to his army and why he's breathing through his ears, smelling through his eyes and eating through his nostrils and is deaf unless his mouth is open.

I could see it offend say someone who worked for months on a project and his gets kicked off the "Across MOCpages" or "Explorer" tab because some ODST pod that took an hour was "accidently spammed to get 100 smilies.

I've got an issue with that too. I'm not naming names but some people have tried that onmr. I did not know if you are talking with someone on a creation and you keep rating it it gives a false rating. That was in my early days though.

It even offends me that people are sometimes bullied on here. I know some of the bully-ers and I know some of the bullied. Seeing this make me feel for them, and I always step up my guard. A lot of complaints in a couple of groups (None I can remember at the moment...) is frustrating. Now I am not on the annoyind MOCpages C.I.A. but I wanted to point it out, probably that's the third or forth time antone has said this.

I hope.~H

Nope, not offended at all. In fact, I am the first one to make Canadian jokes ;-)

That was pretty funny man - love the flip flops.

I drive a BMW and wear sandals myself in the summer. Mind you, I have a Toyota Tundra for the winter - I wonder if I can get tracks like that for my truck?

OK, valid point. I have yet to hear a Canadian or Britisher misuse the King's English like us Yanks do. Still, I do not want to live anywhere else, except maybe in limbo...that might be fun.

Well.

1) People who butcher the good English language by misspelling intentionally (i.e. "rite" instead of "right", etc.), using numbers for letters (i.e. 4w350m3 c0mm4nd3r ch33f, etc.), and using "text terms" (i.e. lol, brb, etc.). Plus, it really breaks up what should be a serious conversation.

2) People who believe that they are always right, even when they are so far from it, and try to force their opinions and beliefs on others. Not to be confused with people who are always right, like me.

3) Hypocrites.

(I don't remember installing this) but apparently 'Hilightersomething' was installed on my computer. When I see a certain word (eg: Wal Mart, SPORE, Halo, etc) it gets underlined in yellow. He probably has a similar program. It's pretty unnerving and I can't find out how to uninstall it. Lucky for me, not many words are hilighted.

Ah. Those are probably blocked on mine. I think you should take this to Mocpages Help. They might be able to tell you how to eliminate the program. It does sound like a form of spamming to me. And I have seen them before now that I recall; on Wiki, as reference cites. Another sneaky way to get past Mocpages blockers.

Good enough for me. You still might want to post a notice though, in case anyone else is experiencing this. It IS advertising and that's only allowed on the sidebars, not inside the pages of the members.

I'm not sure if I explained it well, but it just underlines brand names on ANY website. And links... I think it installed when I updated firefox.. It's a thing made by eBay apparently, so it just showas you places on ebay selling for instance the game when you hover over the link.

I know what he's talking about. I have that happen when I'm on my Yahoo email account. Whenever I type in Lego or Toys R Us or anything like that, it underlines it. Basically, it's giving me the option to go and shop for whatever brand name I happen to be typing.

It's not a mocpages thing, it's on (or not on) your personal accounts.

That's definitely intrusive advertising in my opinion. You should tell them how to remove it, though. As I said earlier, it seems to be blocked for me, but that might not be the case, and I'd certainly like to know how to get rid of it should it ever appear. Anyway, as you say, it's not harmful, but EBay should know better.

Ah, I'm not following the conversation here, but redirects and shopping keywords (in my case) were caused by a non-harmful virus. I can't google anything without chache-ing it. I just went aboot and found the program file of a program I don't have on my computer. There we go. no more "smartShopper- Compare travel rates" icons on the desktop.

Haven't seen any of those yet. I've seen ads with girls in tank tops and T-Shirts, but there's nothing wrong with girls in tank tops and T-Shirts.

There were a couple of homepages that were trying to sell things (which is inapproriate to begin with) of a sexual nature. But those accounts have been deleted.

What about those victoria secret and evony adds? They're pretty suggestive.
