I hear that! I've just started working on the plastic version of Castellum Gloria (in Queen Katherine's Brittany) and I'm resisting the temptation to make it 3/4 the projected size. I'm working on the throne room, BTW, and it' a lot bigger than it looks on LDD. I have this weird anthropomorphic desire to "make things comfortable" for the figs, but - I dunno... OK, look closely at the pic in this link; enlarge the minifig pic. notice the "lighter" area between the lenses. Perhaps a gap? Now compare that to this http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=3626bp04. Here, there is no 'lighter' between the lenses; it's 'solid'. there seems to be a slight variation.

I was going to make a bad joke here, but I'll go with the real reason...

Basically, it's for legal purposes. When you sign up for an account, you're (kinda) signing a legal contract. That's why, when you sign up, it says "If you're under 18, get your parents permission before signing up." Long story short, legal mumbo jumbo.
