How can you round off the edges of castles?

I am not sure if I understand what you mean, but try this technique- http://www.mocpages.com/image_zoom.php?mocid=137838&id=/user_images/17109/12481913691

Not exactly what I meant, but I found a technique here:

If you prefer the studs up approach, you can do the ol' 1 x 1 round method: http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/64493

I'm not a huge fan of it, because texturally, it's very different than a solid surfaced wall (although Eggy ingeniously made some flat walls in that example so there was some consistency). But the approach shown above from Flickr has a different pattern to the surface as well, and it's limited in what size circumference you can make, so it's a matter of your tastes, and what technique will actually function best with the space available to you in the MOC.

I also have discovered another technique that I've not seen done before (although it probably has...nothing's new in LEGO!). But I'm actually going to be a greedy little slob and keep it to myself until I get around to building a castle Mmmwwwaaaa-ha-ha-ha! (Yes, JD...I've finally got plans to do one as soon as I finish the Eye of Chaos SHIP for Brick World). I'll post a "how to" once I've done the castle, but it'll be a while.

Ok, I'm pretty sure I'm right, (and this has nothing to do with making a castle, except it will help with mine) but did peasents live outside of the castle?

Oh yes, very much so. Just think of all the farmers!

Which is better? A King-side castle, or a Queen-side castle? I prefer Queen-side, because it varies the position a little and will sometimes throw off an opponent.

It sure can, especially if they're building their attack to the wrong side of the board! I'm not that good but I've beaten a couple of better players with that switch.

...did peasants live outside of the castle?

First of all - sorry if I'm butting in. Second: Well it would really depend on the castle - Most castles were the property of nobles, dukes and kings, people in "High" society. If they wanted a peasant to live in their castle, then they would allow the peasant. On most occasions nobles were very criticizing of those who were "below" their level of wealth and would turn their noses up to those who shovel the stalls. So - most likely - peasants would live outside the castle walls. If you're talking "Fantasy" style castle, do what you want. That's the pleasure of fantasy!
