Quoting Mechanik .
My trouble is on how to get the medieval look to a house.
My BEST advice on that would be to pick up the market place set and actually build it following the instructions. Doing that would teach you some of the basic skills needed to take your own builds in the direction you want them to go in.
Second, being as you most likely can't just go out and drop a hundred bucks on a set just to teach you some stuff...
Here’s some links to some castle interiors that really stood out to me.
First, Dark Spawn. The man’s a genius! Anything on his page will help you but I round this interior to be very well done.

Aliencat is one of my ALL time favorites. I chose this creation of his because of its smaller size and it won’t take nearly as long to pour over the details. But if you have the time, check out everything he’s posted. It’s worth it.

And of course, what would mocpages castle be without Eggy? Nothing I tell you, NOTHING. Here’s one of his smaller builds that has the PERFECT amount of detail. Study this one well, it’s a great example of lots of detail with not a lot of space.

Shameless self promotion here. But what I want you to take a look at is how I was able to make it “feel” like it was this huge sprawling catacomb when in actuality, the entire thing was only about 42x30 studs (not including the water tiles after the dais that the coffin is on).

Lee Jones. I chose this particular moc because it was too terribly complex and easier to replicate some of the techniques. But pay close attention to the placement of each element. That’s where the genius lies.

And finally, where would any of us be without the one, the only, the certifiably insane Mark Kelso? This post of Mark’s is a testament to how you can make something look so much more than the sum of its parts. While this is probably one of Mark’s best works, it’s also one of the easier ones to replicate. Minus the amazing photoshop work of course. Pay attention to how he built the walls, the side walkway, the dais… all simple ideas but when put together in the right fashion and photographed properly, the magic of his genius comes to light.

Hope this helped you out a bit. Now get to studying, those mocs aren’t going to build themselves ya know?!!?
