We'll put this here instead of starting a new thread. I've got a pretty basic formula for people to get their mocs noticed, but let's see what others on mocpages have to say before I weigh in on this.

Anyone? Help this kid out. That's what we're here for.

OK, Ridge. Be active in groups, comment on other people's things. They might want to go to your homepage and then to your MOCs if you leave maybe a little longer comment. Not just:
"Cool! I really like it." But maybe point out some techniques that you like. And, you could hint at them to check out your MOCs, I guess, by saying something this along with your comment: "That's a cool idea for a minifig gun, I should use that, my design is a bit simpler..." Only more so.
I dunno. That's just one of the techniques I use, but I didn't explain it well. Good luck!

@Ridge Getting popular is no easy matter, there is no simple way to get popular, I'd suggest being as active as you can, commenting on others creations and groups. Make good mocs (most people will check your stuff out, just out of curiosity especially if you make something never seen before) and commenting on others creations just to say "pleez chek out mah stuphz" won't get you many comments, but frankly I would trade all my one word comments for one sincere and honest critique. What I mean is would you rather have someone tell you how to improve your mocs or someone give you a 5?5 just so you look at their stuff?

Use either a white light, or take them early in the morning in a well-iluminated room.

Get up early or stay up late.

DO IT.

Early morning photos look incredible, if taken well. The interplay of light and shadow can be amazing.

Just check Eylar's stuff, he's got a reputation for that sort of thing for a reason.

...Don't... encourage him. Marks, as soon as someone posts an "inappropriate" moc, we delete it. Like I told you before, when someone crosses the line, we take care of it.

I have an idea, why don't you invite me to your group and I'll listen to your concerns. If you find ANYTHING that is against mocpages terms and conditions of use, I'll be more than happy to take care of it.

There have been a number of "creations" that are not fit for mocpages. I'm not going to tell you what they were, but let's just say that they were not fit for young eyes... These accounts have also been deleted and the IP address blocked. Trust me, it happens more than you know.

Ok, I'll help you. What you just did there is called SPAM and is generally looked down upon on mocpages. Simply asking someone to "chek out mi stuf" is probably the worst way to get attention.

If you want to get noticed on mocpages, I'll tell you the secret...

A: Build GOOD mocs!
and
B: Leave nice comments on other peoples creations WITHOUT asking them to check out your stuff.

I know, sounds too simple to actually work, but trust me, it does.

I think adding a number of common 1337sp33k blocker bypasses to the blocked list might be an idea.



That's why I don't use one.
Gives the wrong impression of association with the CFOL.

One of the hard and fast rules of moderation is when someone tries to get around the censors by using numbers (in your case, the number 3) instead of letters, the comment gets deleted, no question.

Just using numbers in plac3 of l33ters isn't wr0ng, only when you use them to get around moderation.

As I stated before, if you find something that IS against the rules of mocpages, let me know. You not agreeing with something on moral grounds is not enough to justify that it should be removed.

I thank you for your concern about the content of mocpages but what you are (or were) trying to do was to infringe on other peoples 1st amendment rights. All we ask is that you check ALL your facts before attempting to start a fight/war/rebellion or what ever. KNOW what the rules actually are before you say that someone else has broken them.

Case in point, you made some discriminatory remarks against another religion in one of my threads. Technically, what you did WAS against the rules. Please be sure you know what you're talking about before starting something like this again.

In the mean time, I wish you all the best in your LEGO building here on mocpages. After all, that's what this site IS FOR... Please, everyone... go back to building.

Because the first part of the correct spelling of that word is a word that got a kid IP banned. I know it's annoying but these are the things we have to deal with when people go out of there way to start fights here instead of just building.

The trouble is, the 'roosterpit' is a fighter aircraft component, where the pilot sits, whereas a flight deck is the part of an airliner in which the pilot and copilot are, and the cabin is where the passengers sit.

Could cause problems in discussions about aircraft in which multiple conversations are going on at once.

You know what, if you come to Mocpages looking for popularity then really why do you come here to this site? I mean Mocpages is all about post creations and sharing those creations with other people who like what you build. I mean really if you look at Mark, Chris and other great builders. They do not look for the popularity when they build their creations. They build those creations because either they were fun to make or they found out a new and creative way to make something, and it just happened to get noticed by a lot of people. So basically the younger builders, take your time, your chance of greatness will come. The way to becoming a master is long and difficult young padawans but you will learn the ways of what the masters know when the time is right [I am not saying that I am a master, I am only a mere Knight learning to become a master but it is the best thing I could come up with :P]

If only people understood these words when posting MOCS and commenting on MOCs, MOCpages would be a better place. I don't read minds or see in to the future (a true shame) just givin my usual Yoda advise.

Well I'm new to MP, and I can't imagine how it was before the groups, but some people should'nt have administrative powers, I've seen groups with(for example) 30 members and 10 admins and 20 moderators, all the drama is completely pointless considering MP is made so we can share our creations with the rest of the Lego community.

One moderator per 50 members is quite a sufficient ratio.

The trouble is that in most kiddie egoballoon groups, modship is given to the first 5/10/15/20/25 people who ask/join/say chek owt may stuffz/chek out their 1337 stuffz.

You also have to understand Juan that Commander Marks is a known instigator who tries to disrupt groups. Why does he do it? For attention. He adds absolutely NOTHING positive to MOC pages. Why he's still around is beyond me. Let him play his childish games. It's going to catch up to him eventually.
