I need you to give me your honest opinion here. I want to know the pros and cons of my Kirk Kristiansen Memorial stadium before I actually buy it.

I get components on discount sales (or freeload off friends) and build my own computers.

Sounds like someone else I know... (Me!)

Hey, Archy, why was it again that you only use computer programs to build stuff? Lack of LEGO(R) Brick? I know I read somewhere why you only use computer programs, but I can't remember where... Would you ever consider building a creation out of plastic just for *me*?

If you go to his homepage he says he does not want comments like "I want to see you build with real legos!" He can explain the rest.

If you simply re-read my post, I simply asked him WHY he doesn't. I don't tell him what to do, I ask him if he would.

I was at my friend Justin's place the week of New Year's, and he does not have internet.

Caveman, eh?

_____

Actually, I think most people don't realise the huge skillset needed to be a good (read: alive) caveman.

For one thing, you need to be able to start a fire with some pebbles and a stick. You need to be very fit, resistant to disease, you need the ability to track game long distances, the whole spear throwing thing isn't actually that important, even though it's very hard, there's the whole matter of the building shelters and general out-doorsy things, just to name a few...

Really, from a lot of viewpoints, our hunter-gatherer forebears were more advanced than we.

I'd wager that if you randomly picked an internet user, he probably wouldn't be able to make a stone knife if his life depended on it!

A number of reasons.

1) My ABS LEGO are in a very chaotic state right now...
2) I have no digital camera of my own ...
3) While Iím not a bad photographer - I am not an expert, and screenshots are easier to take than photos.
4) Due in part to the reasons mentioned above, I began experimenting with digital LEGO, finally settling with the LDraw family of programs. It has become my specialty, something that Iím good at, that not many others do, and that I can give people advice on.
5) I like it as an artistic medium.

Thanks for the info - Now I know. It's neat to see someone building with a virtual medium, I haven't seen that in a while...

Would you ever consider building a creation out of plastic just for *me*?

I do hope to eventually have a chance to organize me ABS LEGO collection and post something I build with that...

That would be way cool - I'd love to see that! But I like to see your CAD stuff too so it would make sense...

Theoretically speaking, possibly - I have read a lot about survival techniques.

The problem with that sort of thing is that until you actually try, you don't know if you're any good at it.

If I read a book on leather tanning, that wouldn't make me an expert. In fact, I probably wouldn't be able to manage very much of it at all.

Practice makes (nearly) perfect, they say.

And, as for your friend, well, he's hardly an average netizen, is he?

Unless he went to a Mall-Ninja training camp, in which case...

Justin probably could pull it off. He was in Boy Scouts of America when he was younger, and was recently a U.S. Army Ranger (before the helicopter accident).
How is Justin, by the way? I heard about his accident and felt rather sorry for him.

Quoting Architect of Vonthako
Technically it was New Years, and yes, I did have a good time.
Ah - Okay... Good to hear!

Some nice skills to know - I've read some books too, but as Areetsa said:

Which is a very good point.
Yet - I for one, have spent many hours outside in rugged wildlife. I've been lost in the 'woods' and made it back to civilization. I know my way around survival techniques, even though I'm not a military veteran nor was I ever boy scout...

Hey, Iím letting you all know ahead of time, so you donít wonder where I went: I will be leaving for my friend Justinís house around 5-5:30-ish (EST), and I wonít be back until probably Monday. He does not have internet at his place, so it is unlikely that I will be on the Ďpages over the weekend.

Okay - Thanks for the heads up!

Since I so far have no Photoshop, I just set up paper around my MOCs. But I really don't think it's the BEST way....

And now, another update for my fellow MOC-ers

I've relocated (yet again) to Kokomo, Indiana. I'm going to be working on making my way to Indianapolis, as that would be a good "launching point" for my goal of getting to India. There is an international airport, as well as the government offices for me to obtain my passport, visa, and whatever other documents at. Oh, and I'll be in the same city as Kelso, so I might run into
him at some point (oh, the horror).

Haha
