my first bionicle was onua mata. i got him in early summer 2001, when bionicle first came out. he was my favorite figure and still is my favorite character. i started mocing a few years later though, which was when i started to get a lot of extra rahkshi( rahkshi is spelled correctly) vahki, bohrok, etc. and i wanted to make my own versions of them. that was around 2004, which was the year that my oldest moc, reziden, was made. but, i have no idea what my very fisrt moc was until a certain point when i got a lot of new pieces around summer 2007, but i know reziden was before that. I got Tahu Mata First, and he was and is awesome! In fact that was my first Lego Product ever, and after that I had to have the rest! My first moc...no idea, but i agree with Kai, it prolly started when i was building the combiner sets! Permalink
mina was the toa mata leeuwa 9don't know ore it is spelled good) and it was mine first lego set... i loved it and i started MOCing right away, but with just one bionicle, you can't build that much more things than the original... (i was 5). and now i've got 60 bionicles. mostly toa's, a couple of touraga and matoran, about 20 "bad guys" and a couple of giants, with the legendairy makuta! but now i've stopped collecting them, but i still enjoy building them... btw now i'm workeing at "dum-dum", a dino-like bionicle...
that's my story! Permalink

Ahh, Yesh, Onua Mata. BEST. TOA. EVER. Although i do think that they underestimated his abilities. A Toa of Earth should be able to control anything that's found in the earth, right? That's saying that Onua should have been able to manipulate most of the elements on the periodic table, and through the combiation and interaction of said elements, he could have controled much more than just stone. Say he rubs Flint and iron (steel is an alloy, so he couldn't make that without help), and then he ignites a large clump of sodium. He becomes a toa of fire (in appearance)! BAM! Permalink

Interesting theory...one problem, the "Element of Earth" refers to the Alchemic meaning, rather the the by the book definition. Permalink

Still, if one of those big stone pillars that he shoots out of walls is iron rich, and he shoots another that is flint rich, and he smashes a big hunk of Magneseium or sodium...
I'm already making Toa based off the Periodic Table's elements ^^ Silicon would be able to do similar... Permalink
My first bionicle was Tahu Mata. I actually made a MOC out of his pieces on the way home before building the actual set ^^ I was MOCing right from the start. I still remember some of my early MOCs... I ought to resurrect a couple... Permalink
Quoting Kai Heffernan
My first bionicle was given to me on my 7th birthday, it was the red borohk, I loved the design and started collecting all of them.
I started MOCing when I started making those combonations in the back of the instruction booklets (oh, those combos were so good, why did lego stop them?) anyway I kept coming up with ways to make those bohrok combos better and eventualy I had made a completely custom bionicle, by then I had collected alot of bionicles including the tarakava, manas, and a couple of the first toa...
Well I've shared with you how I began MOCing, please do the same.
i love them! i had every single one plus an extra 2 reds and a black. Permalink
My first set was Turaga Onewa (2001). I still remember it. One day, when I was still a little kid just playing in my room, my mom came home and she brought this set for me. It was small, but it entertained me for hours =D Permalink
Mine was kopaka nuva i was 5 then and me and my dad built kopaka and all the other sets together but now i build them myself he still gives me tips like " if it has big weapon you should make big feet"XD Permalink
Ah, my first one... :) It was Toa Tahu Nuva, and, though I was 5, I played with him until about 10 p.m. that night (pretty late for a toddler). I soon lost all the pieces, but I just recently managed to get them all back. I got the Rahkshi Guurahk that same day, and got him put back together just last week. Permalink
i got into bionicles in 2003 when i was 4 and got the McDonald's happy meal bionicles but my first proper one was given as a birthday present it was toa metru onewa i was then collecting and collecting until i got like three full boxes of 2nd hand bionicles for free by a friend i and thats when i started making bigger and better mocs and maybe one day i will hand down by bionicles to one of my children hey bionicles could be one of my family traditions (: Permalink
I cannot remember when or how old I was when I got my first Bionicle, but I do remember that it was Makuta; the first Makuta actually. I loved that set but unfortunately I just recently lost his unique mask which was my favorite part of the set. I have found him on bricklink though so I'm really happy now! Permalink
I missed the early stuff (unless you count the Slizer/Throwbot ones) so my first ones would have been the hordikas Vakama and Nuju. I was very select back then with figuring out colour combinations to suit future creations, didn't stop me from getting the Toa Norik and Iruni 2 pack that was there. Ever since I've been getting select characters for colours, so I never really got any complete sets. A massive box I purchased in an online auction last year did enable me to gain access to some of the older sets and sets that I didn't buy, so I'm all good! Permalink
my first bionicle was turaga nuju and i bought it with a friend who got turaga whenua. the funny thing is that the store i got it from only sold bionicle once and only those two bionicles so lucky me maybe if i hadn't gotten it i would have never been a fan of bionicle. Permalink
