Battlestar Variants

I was looking for something else to build from the BSG theme, and ran across Ravenstar Studios. They make these little plastic models like the ones they'd push around on the tactical table. Are these just random redesigns or are they actually based on the show? Anyone?

I stumbled onto this site many years ago in obsessive way and when I was them it seemed they were all his own design. saying that there was another site lost the name of it long ago that had 60 to 70 plus battlestar designs all created by fans. Probably should add as long as the basic shape is there, it is a battlestar just the same as in star trek star wars if you noticed had the 50's to ultra modern era. George Lucas's first film what ever the name was to the creation of star wars. all has elements of each decade Phantom menace 50,s era jedi ultra modern or the 80,s.
So El Barto do as I did and have fun designing your own and let your creative juices flow I'm still blown away with the response in now 4 days of releasing it on moc pages Yet in Brickshelf very little response. NO figure.

Well, I found an article on Brothers Brick that featured your Rubycon. I bet that has drawn a great deal of people from outside the usual MOC pages crowd. Funny, I seem to get more attention on Brickshelf, go finger. As I've observed over the past couple of months, there are a few key things that seem to generate excitement in the world of Lego, not just a cool moc. You have to have the cgi, and a storyline seems to be pretty big, too. So, the Rubycon is like the Lego hat-trick. Battlestars do rule!

Hey thank you for the update on what has been happening. Well there is a feather in my cap 3 good comments and one saying its too fat can't please everyone. Least I am happy with it. It was fun putting the story together has one of my favorite characters. How did your search go? Just keep looking google using Battlestar and what ever other word to go with it. The other hard disc with all my old bsg stuff died in 08 so I have slowly been trying to re collect all the lost info. Thanks again El Barto happy searching

Well, some guys like 'em skinny. Anyway, went digging for more ship variations, including some docking stations. Gunstars, Warstars, where do they get this stuff? I don't know, I may just go back and work on the underbelly some more. Ribs, ribs and more ribs.

The great thing about the battlestar universe like in all the others it relies on those brilliant and talented creative people to have an idea and go with that. Why not try your own design and create. I am counting the peices of the cygnus go far 8200 and 3 containers to go out of 12. I will be taking many more photos of the galactica before it gets dismantled. You are right the Rubycon is far too good looking to dismantle at least for now but is has most of the smooth plates.
I also typed in google battlestar rubycon and it has now been built by a nerd sweet I am a builder by trade and to be called a nerd, I must have brains too. LOL. I was going to coat the galactica with plates but then decided that I will move forward with models not backwards. Have you seen the other huge lld moc or is it LDD baseship in brickshelf ??? 10000 parts nice and sleek my thoughts will it support its self may attempt it, I saw the round baseship and that has crossed my mind too. I like to try to build the ships others have not don in large scale or it just seems that I am copying their mocs. You with your galactica mine would have to be twice as long if not more with 2 studs between the ribs Ive not gone down that path yet nor with the pegasus Now that with the engines will be tuff to look right that is why I am developing my skills before attempting them. Have a great time exploring the universe also if you have not already done so join the colonial.fleet.com very talented folks there as well. and this one have a look superb stuff there

I posted a message and it has not appeared here. Now I have to try and rethink all the info I placed here for you. I have found many sites by typing Battlestar or the whole title and or what ship I was looking for and seemed to hit many targets. I also joined “colonial fleet “ and there were some might good cgi stuff. I recon that in all honesty have a bash at designing your own style wagon there is no way it would be wrong. Even the original wagon was different to the 78 series always try to build them. I have packed my stuff away again needed the room for more visitors this place is like a railway terminal with layover. Such is the life….The rubycon is also designed to have landing bays on the side that are thin in design as a variation to the original. Soon the galactica will explode but first I have to take 100’s more detailed shots and the overall image. Just for prosperity same with the con, She will stay for a while .
Hey I like your new images see we are making a difference on having new expectations from out peers.
another one you could try

Scifi-Meshes.com heaps of links

I found some pictures of the Galactica on the Battlestar Wiki site that I had not seen before, and I now find that the underbelly section is lacking. Unfortunately this will have to include a parts order. I guess I'm still obsessed, and can't seem to move on...Surprised no one else has joined in the conversation. Have fun with your guests!

You should purchase the model of the galactica and that has everything you need to see. I bought all the models available on the market. That made it easier to get the models right I have a large battlestar and large pegasus but I have to develop the engines to do any justice. have you got an email address that you use for public messages rather than a private email so I can send you some very detailed pictures of the belly. just thought use mine and send your address to mine then I can get the info sooner to you. I use this one for a general public.

I should have gotten a model, that probably would have been easier. I just thought the photos seemed to have more detail, at least compared to the models I saw. I do have a gmail account:

Since you gave me your email I will use my private one to send the images I think you will be able to guess who it is by the name.
They will be sent soon

I see that your missing post has jumped in unexpectedly. I looked up that base ship on brickshelf. Pretty slick. I like the little bits that represent the raiders. At first I didn't think it would work in the real world. But as I look at it more, it may have been built in segments, like a centipede, and clicked them from the center and out. Each segment is 8 studs long, with the width tapering in. It might actually work. And that builder seems to have crated a fair amount of the fleet. Maybe he'll end up on Moc Pages.
So a BSG 2x mine. Now that is expensive! But I can see why you would want to go that way. To get all those little greeblings in between the ribs, plus all of the little guns. But would you be able to get far enough away from it indoors to take a picture? A walleye lens maybe?
