Mind the fact this is alot of reading. Ok, lately I've been needing many more bricks for my vignette and other mocs I want to build. I'm also moving all my LEGOs from the 2nd floor to the basement of my house so I have room for many new mocs and mabey another vignette. So now you are wondering why I am saying all this stuff. I have a good friend who owns a huge lot of LEGOs dating even before 1980. He has seen my stuff and is wanting to help and contribute on many models. After I obtained the 6 new Egypt sets, he came to me with the idea of a new vignette A jungle, desert moc which I will put on 3 60" 30" tables and even try to make a boat for all. Now this is just a plan atm and not fully done. Another reason for me saying this is that if any of you would so kindly put a link or 2 of a 1920s steamship that can carry cars and other items thats realistic and practical. I hope all these things work out because if they do, I will have many new mocs to show. Just a update so far

Surprise!

Yes, I live! Despite many attempts to sabotage my hair, set my house on fire, and other ridiculously complicated ways to kill me, I have bested my enemies and I live to build another day!

Fine. I'll give you the boring story. I've been hypnotized by my Xbox and several new games and have been unable to get to the computer anyway because recent snowstorms have made the interner connection here rather unsteady. We've had the whole week off of school, and I finally started building. On the list of things to upload, we have the Thunderbull (already uploaded), a pair of mini attack choppers, two mobile bunkers, a fighter-bomber, and another team of soldiers.

Good to be back.

Quick news, I have recently obtained my shipment of fresh (tho used :) ) pieces from Bricklink. I have also finished the overview look of the vig. (Egypt/jungle) on a 1/16 scale, and is accurate to pieces (VERY annoying getting the measurements on so many sets to fit perfectly). All I am missing now is the 4x 60" by 30" tables, my friend with his collection, and $360 to get enough plates for the base... I still find it funny that I bought atleast more than half of the seller's tan bricks.

Haha, you're spot on. These major projects are actually somewhat of a resume. My career plan for the future is at three ideas, lego ( work my way up to designer ), architect, and last resort will be marketing ( I've actually good at marketing on MMOs [ laugh if u want but if you want to be good, you have to start somwhere ] aswell as selling stuff at school (legaly)). To reach these goals i will be at college for sometime.

Hey, good for you. I respect people with marketing talent. Mostly because they specialize in hacking your brain and convincing you to buy something you normally wouldn't go near...

Since it was my birthday yesterday, I have been given a large amount of money and more to come. I recently bought 3 1/100 Gundams from Ebay (things are beast), I'll spend a bit more towards finishing my Tippmann A-5. After that is complete, I will be buying pieces and tables to work on my vignette. Note though, I altered construction parts so I hope I can get a good war atmosphere to it.

Another update. For a while now I have been having hard times thinking on what to build. tho, 2 days ago I was flipping thru an old LEGO catelog. Looked at a few sets and one of the Space Police sets caught my attention. Looking at the odd car for the headquarters set and my mind started to think. I have made something similar to it but much more uniquely interchangeable. I will post pics tommorrow. Just letting you all know so I don't look like I have been asleep for the long time.

Old topic but I believe I need to talk about a MAJOR alteration to my island. Its last update showed a lot of empty space, major water, dull buildings, and most importantly, its way to low the beach looked funny and the ocean isnt much. Well, I have recently moved the project to my basement where I put my LEGOs since there is more space to build by far ( very big basement that has hardly anything in it). With this new space, I will like to say that the base will be EXTREMELY altered. I will rase the area up to a bit more than a ft. high and much more detailed with caves, small hangar in the side of the island and a large docking area suspended by colums from the rocks to connect it to the base. I end my info on the base and all I can say is masked duplo on extreme proportions.

Hey Ultra, I've been meaning to ask you about UNE/18th history...
I've been thinking that when the UNE came across the TPC, they just accepted the TPC's theory that explains how humans got to Hondus, Incron, and Tiber. Lets assume that they kind of worked hand-in-hand together to expand they're empires. I also kind of think that the TPC's advanced space-technology alowed the UNE to grow in 50 years like Moffatt has said.
But if it was truly the UNE who discovered the TPC, and not the other way around, then I guess that it would be acceptable to say that an Earthling invented our Tachyon drives which, with the use of TPC tech, *really* made the UNE and TPC expand.

Sorry for the *very* late response, Matt. Replying is a much more efficient means of attracting my attention.

Anyhow, I think it was that Earth 'discovered' the TPC, and then they worked more or less together for the next 50-100 years. Technically, for the great EOS war, the TPC was allied with the COP. Then when the EOS was finally defeated the TPC solidly supported and allied with the UNE against the genocidal ideals of the COP; hence the 'Saints and Angels' incident where the COP decided it wanted the TPC on its side, or else [http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/160858]. That's the long and short of me suddenly deciding to switch from COP to UNE because you guys would actually allow us to exist. But yes, I've long held that the TPC has better tech than the UNE, but it's not like we're hoarding it or anything.

After many movies, I keep altering the design of my base. The most recent movie made me rethink the design so it can be more afordable. In The Manchurian Candidate, the brainwashing base showed that you can have a hightech base within small buildings yet blends and looks like ruins. I know I speak alot of this base yet have not many photos but there alot of things happening here which delays alot of work. I currently have 3 new models that need posting and my updated/ modified Juggernaut. With any luck, I could probably get my sis to loan me her new camera.

Well that was misunderstood. No, there will be no brainwashing rooms. I made a refrence that in the movie, there was a brainwashing room... well the entire base if you haven't watched the movie. I was planing on making it a hideout with military useage. Ironically, days before I saw that movie, I was thinking that the COP were brainwashed soldiers who are captured by the Death Guard so they can turn them back to a form of normality. I guess in the end, this base will be complicated with so many ideas. P.S. The Manchurian Candidate is rated R but it is really cool and very bizzare. One last thing, the base will cater greatly for my PLAGUES's leader who I shall post in soon time... The Doctor has been freed >:-)

What's the difference between brainwashing and a different culture? The Coalition (Nine separate Realms), at least the Empire of Tarsis, who y'all 18th fight the most, is nothing like Earth/TPC. They speak another language, come from another world, have another history, and have a social order they believe to be the perfect. And divine in origin, depending whom you ask. It's a feudal realm, with capitalism only on the individual scale, and completely decentralized outside the navy.

This leads me to wonder, what is the definition of brainwashing? Is it merely someone who's been led to believe what they're doing is right, or does it go deeper? Someone's who's been raised their entire life in one environment coming into conflict with an entirely different world?

Of course, you have no idea of knowing this, so think of this as an educational opportunity, rather than me ranting. It's also an opportunity to ask big questions. Because I'm tired and I do that.

Before this gets worse and turns into an argument, the idea was never to be serious. The idea came into my mind during class when I had nothing to do, it helped pass the time thinking of a mini battle. I never intended to do the idea, just bored. I would like to apologize if I upset you with the idea that didn't go along with the war history and knowledge. I understand how one can be a bit annoyed over one's comments for I to have that feeling every so often with other nonrelated stories and ideas.

To me, brain washing has always meant, that the subject has strong belief in something, and the goal of brainwashing is to alter, or even invert their belief in said something, through forceful or coercive measures. I personally never implied that the COP uses such techniques, but then again, never heard they didn't ;)

True enough. Most Tarsins aren't all "COALITION, ---- YEAH!" They're just fulfilling their oaths of loyalty and duty to their people, from their perspective. And if that involves conquering some quaint little democratic union... So be it.

But does every society not "brainwash" its members to think their way is the best way? Look at America and the cult of legitness we've built around our nation's founders (which has completely worked on me, those guys were awesome)... Or Russia and what they're doing with Putin right now.

I am inclined to agree with you there. Prime example: The Cold War. In the states, even mention that you saw a friend involved in something slightly envolvong communisim(even if it didn't) they could end up in court. In the USSR, mention something anti-communist you could end up dead.

The goal was to, as you said, create a strong belief that the respective nations government was the only good choice, and it was largely successful, especially in the states.

Fourth, my base's progress has been horribly low but I'm not giving up. Fifth, my space carrier is more than 60% complete. The front is complete but the back is only half complete. I was doing random search on Google images the other night (can't fall asleep and bored) and what I got, I can't believe I never occured to me, the relationship of a name with the 18thDSF and 40k. I searched "Death Guard" and a ton of Chaos weaponry, armor, vehicles, and bizzare soldier of war. It got my mind thinking that why haven't we tried to incorporate the brutality (though the Green Skins are even more brutal but they have very crude weapons of war) of Chaos and this group's Death Guard. We could combine these two sides and get massive weapons of war without being so sleek. Think about it really, tanks, APCs, mechs, and so on, they are going in and out of fierce battles yet come out looking brand new. I don't care how strong its armor is, theres bound to be damage and thats what I like about 40k, its a brutal war and the vehicles show it. What I'm trying to say is that we could throw out the mainstream sleek vehicles and instead, we could build rugged tanks and such because in thats what war is all about. Why don't we try to design such mocs, it's easier and more realistic. If you put a rugged tank with thick armor and powerful guns up against a sleek tank with hightech gagets, we all know who wins there. Sometimes war isn't about technology, its durability and survival of combat. I'm not saying lets go rainbow (rather ironic if u see a rainbow tank in war, lol) and lose all sense reality. Trash those comments when someone tells you need to cover up those studs because, like I said earlier, looks don't win a battle, it's durability that keeps you alive. Now lets be practical and create true weapons of war and not some fancy piece of work that belongs in a showroom. This is war people, not a beauty pageant.

I'm 100% with you. I always have been of that school of thought. Just look at the Tiger (Panzer V) tank. Yeah, it was strong, but it wasn't all that good looking with its flat surfaces, 90 degree angles, and the unfinished look to it. Sadly, the school of thought on MOCpages is "Looks like a winner, it IS a winner!" Especially if you get into groups like the 23rd Century World where MOCs are evaluated by looks alone. If it were up to me, I'd build flying boxes and cubes for spaceships. Why? Because aerodynamics is irrelevant in space, and you can get the most armor and comprehensive weaponry into a cube (or sphere). Honestly, though, if we interpret our understanding of space travel, and that 'ships' in spaces don't really work (rudders don't work in space, so why do we act like conventional designs for 'ships' do?) then the most logical design would be one where engines are on all sides of the vessel to be aimed anywhere you need instantly.

Anyhow, that's my case for cubic ships. The Borg had the right idea.

Well, I saw this coming. I've put in over between $1k - $2k on my base but in my current situation, I'm needing to end the project. It's costing more than I thought. I thought it would cost around $4k but my calculations were wrong. Sounds insane really, $4k on a project. The parts I need kept rising in price on BL as time went by. But with closing this project, I will start working on my other that has been dormant for some time now. Its a guerilla military freighter and its over 60% complete. I'm just glad most of the pieces that are expensive, I already have.

You'll be amazed about how large my collection is. I thought it would be easier to find a Lego group out here now that I'm in college (still living at home still and there aten't any apartments around my college) but so far, I have found nothing. About the teasers and such, do you mean of the base or the ship? Once I find a group out here, I have 2 ideas on hand. First is starting the base back up. The second idea is a Egyptian desert which will contain every major set of the Pharaoh's Quest line (already obtained) and a few of the Adventurers Desert sets. The Egypt idea is a tad bit easier to do since I already have the overview blueprints done for it, showing what set goes where, landmarks, port/ small town, and river. Let me just say that it took awhile drawing it up exactly since I had to do extensive measuring of stud length so I could keep it as perfect as possible.

The only part of the series I didn't like was the Orient one, but even that had its good points. Wish LEGO would republish those.

About the teasers and such, do you mean of the base or the ship? .... Adventurers...

About both, actually. Always helps if you post WIPs. I don't usually because if I do take too long, I'd get bored and never finish it. I have a very active imagination, and I usually just follow that.

Well good luck finding a group, they're out there I'm sure. Keep looking!

I'll try to get some teasers of the ship and I still have a few completed mocs to post. Though I have a camera on hand, I'm waiting for my sis to get her new one. She is younger than me, of course, but her camera I used to take pics of my latest mocs was FAR better than what mine could do. She is really into photography, and pretty good at it, like I'm into Legos, so much money towards our hobbies. All in all, I'll take a few pics of the ship when I can, I just hope I can get the entire ship in one shot, lol.
