Round 5 Matchups!
 Group admin
Ladies and Gentlemen… your round 5 categories!

I won’t bore you with all the regular mumbo jumbo. You’ve made it this far, you know the basic rules. There will be the same 5 judges this round as last round and you’ll need 3 votes to pass on to the semi finals!

Due Date: Your due date is Sunday, October 18th at 11:59 pm Eastern Time.

And now… the round 5 match ups! As these are new categories, I will again be taking questions until this Saturday.

Dave Sterling vs Mark Legorski in -
Set Alternate: Pick a set that you have, tell us what set you’re going to use, and then use ONLY those parts in the set to build WHATEVER you want! You MUST also include at least one picture of all the parts laid out (you should probably do this BEFORE you start building).

Chas Irish vs Crimso Giger in -
Play it again Sam: Take the lyrics from a song and build a moc around it. For the record, I had this idea LONG before Dave Kaleta gave us his Beatles tribute. But that’s a good place to look for inspiration! I’ve always wanted to see a line of minifigs doing the Macarena…

Steef de Prouw vs Legolord in -
“PhipsonInator!”: This category is me basically saying, “I’m in charge, build something I want to see.” HAHAHA! Those of you that know me know that I LOVE the cartoon Phineas and Ferb on Disney Channel. In that show, there is a mad scientist character named Dr. Doofenschmirtz. One of the running gags in the show is that in every episode, he builds an evil creation to destroy (or terrorize or whatever) the tri-state area. EVERY one of his creations ends in the suffix “inator.” Your job here, is to build a mad scientist creation and give it a funny backstory. Of course you don’t have to do one of “his” creations, but the name of the creation must end in “inator.” I’ve added a link here so you can do a little research on the good doctor if you need to: http://phineasandferb.wikia.com/wiki/Heinz_Doofenshmirtz or his “schemes and inventions here: http://phineasandferb.wikia.com/wiki/Doofenshmirtz%27s_schemes_and_inventions and the fact that I KNEW where to find those links tells ya what a dork I really am… Good luck!

Aliencat vs Kevin Fedde in -
Eat me, Drink me: This one is similar to last round’s “recycle” category. Your mission is to take a moc that we all know and switch up the scale for your reproduction. “What the he…?” you may be asking yourself. It’s simple. You can choose to make a microscale creation into minifig scale or vice versa. If you were to choose mirco to minifig with say, “Shannonia” then your job would be to make a section of Shannonia to minifig scale. If you were to chose minifig to micro you could take for example, one of Eggy’s Castles and redo it microscale. (If you don’t get the title, look up “Through the looking glass”)

Okay Chris, I know you think I'm Mr. Sensitive about ideas now ( who, by the way was an AWESOME character in X-Force/X-Static). I'm really not THAT emo, let's just say it was a bad week.

Anyway, I got the song idea partialy from Wes Pitter: http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/137011

And also because I was thinking a lot about Beatles Rock Band.

Regardless, I'm looking forward to all the round five builds, BUT, Chas and Crimso had better live up to the standard I set of what can be accomplished in the song category. In the immortal words of Dywane Johnson, "Just bring it!"

I KNEW someone was going to bring that up HAHAHA. I already had all the categories typed out (except for "Eat me, Drink me." that one's new from this week) and passed on to the judges a LOOOOONG time ago. There's also some categories coming up in later rounds that people are going to say "Hey, I came up with that over here..." but I assure you, I had the idea for these categories before you posted your short story moc. That specific category actually was "almost" one of the original categories starting from round 1.

When I saw your short story, my first thought (Right after OMG this is AWESOME!) was "great... now they're going to think that I ripped this idea from Dave..."

I know it looks like I ripped it, but I swear on all my LEGO that I didn't. But please do hold those two to the VERY high standards that you put out there on that.

Anyways, Great category, I already have a couple good ideas.

Additionally, the song lyric idea has been something that I've had in my mind for well over a year. There's one song in particular that I'm really hoping someone does because I've always seen it as a song that would make a GREAT moc. Of course no, I won't tell what that song is. Maybe after the guys post I'll tell ya. (Lee Jones has always wanted to do "It's raining men" but that's a WHOLE other story).

Hope that helps clear the air a bit and yeah, we abosolutly need to catch up at some point in the near future.

You're asking if you took one of your own say, minifig scale creations and made it microscale if that would be ok? If that's the question then sure, why not? (other way around would be fine too of course)

This is a wonderful category (I love music as much as I love Lego) but even if I really want to make something good, I know it won't be as good as your entry Dave... First I'm not as good as a builder, and also I'm afraid I won't have many, many time to do the entry. My lady is rather depressive at the moment and I just CAN'T play lego all the time, I've got to take care of her... Anyway I think this Round will be interesting. Good luck to everyone !

Hey Chris, I have a question, I have two of the sets I'm choosing, no I don't want to combine the pieces, but lets say I make two of the creations, for a groupy pic? It will be exactly the same, no difference between the two, would that be okay?

I'm a little confused. If you want to use ONE set to build two mocs, that's fine. You can choose any ONE set that you'd like and build whatever you want with that ONE set. You cannot use more than one set. Hope that clears it up for ya. ~ Chris.

Sorry for the confusion, not to good at english, never was.

Ok, got the question now. Sorry, but no, you can only use one set in this category. Two boxes of the same set is still two sets. ~ Chris.

Sure, why not? If it's included in the set, feel free to use it. Just be SURE you can prove it's part of the set if asked (not that you will be mind you, but just in case)

Well, these should make a good sampler, and then we can go from there - never can have too much head.

Its not exactly like that. I "photoshopped" in a background for the first picture because that's what the person I'm imitating did, to make it closer to the original. I didn't do anything to the Lego. Is that fine?

At this point in the contest, I'm going to say that we can let it slide but will not be judging the content of the opening picture. As long as the exact same content is in a picture lower down, then it should be fine. That's my opinion, the other judges may differ on it. If they read this before they see your post, then you should be fine.

Hope that helps. Long story short, fine by me.
